A list of puns related to "Apache OpenOffice"
Isn't it time for Apache to let go of the OpenOffice brand?
After 9 years of growing LibreOffice adoption and neglect of OpenOffice the feud between the caretakers of both office suites still stands.
OpenOffice itself is still a strong brand, but the software behind is gets barely updated.
LibreOffice on the other hand is improving on a steady pace and is becoming a real Foss household name.
Wouldn't it be a mature decision to hand over the OpenOffice brand to the document foundation, which proves to create a worthy successor? This to the benefit of the open source movement as a whole?
Honestly, I can't grasp why such a move is so difficult to achieve. Isn't the spirit of open source to strive to a mutual benefit?
Many of you probably already know about it, but I didn't. It is free, can load all office files to edit view etc and has a decent enough set of programs to create alternatives.
I bought a new laptop and didn't have the financial means to pay £80 or whatever it is... and not being interested in a subscription (365) OpenOffice is a life saver considering I need to view word/PowerPoint documents a lot for my job.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else out there was needing a free alternative to MS. :)
my openoffice docx's have kind of gotten out of organization. i'm searching for file contents by using keywords from the documents to try to find them (improper use of titling) and am unable to search this way for openoffice documents. is there a method of searching for contents that would allow me to find the file based on keywords within said files? thanks
