A list of puns related to "Anatomy of the human heart"
Or was this just a fun little line thrown in by Peter Jackson and company?
It took three appointments...THREE! The second one didn't provide ANYTHING. Our lil boy is stubborn and a tummy sleeper just like his parents. When we went in the third time, they said if they didn't get the heart we'd have to drive to the city to get it done there...I broke down crying. I hate going to the city (we live outside of SF and honestly I can't stand SF these days).
The tech got his coworker to come in when our boy was being his usual stubborn self, and she worked some magic and GOT THE SHOTS! The tech who was assigned to us was a little embarrassed he had to get her, but I told him, "you're the only person who thought to get her to help you, you're the one who solved the problem and you should be very proud of yourself. Great teamwork from the both of you!!"
And our boy is looking so handsome. Hubby is already getting cocky about his son, says, "did you see those biceps? Those are some meaty biceps at 20 weeks old!"
Halfway through the pregnancy, impatient for the next 20 weeks to go by smoothly and healthily for our little one so we can finally meet him!
Just something I was curious about, I didn't know if there was much in the way of non-invasive ways of studying anatomy or if a doctor/scientist would just have to slice up dead people and study their viscera under a microscope.
Bonus question: When did we first have a mostly-accurate concept of human anatomy? As in when did we know what all the organs and systems were and how they behaved?
Hi everyone
I'm a relatively decent painter, drawer etc. but lately I've really been wanting to nail down the basics. I'm sure I could go to art school but living in the High COL nightmare that Los Angeles is, I think it's probably not even kind of worth saddling myself with that much debt.
Can anyone recommend any books or videos that they use to draw the form accurately? I want to work on something like a graphic novel and want my characters to look anatomically accurate at the very least.
Thanks!
#The Body Poetic: Understanding the Anatomy of a Poem
Chapter One: The Heart
Welcome to βThe Body Poetic: Understanding the Anatomy of a Poemβ. I am your host, u/actualnameislana, and in this series of essays we will be dissecting a single poem, piece by piece, over the next few weeks. We will be looking at what makes its heart beat, how it stands and walks around on its feet, how it uses its skeletal structure to keep all its parts organized, as well as a ton of other bits and bobs and organs and parts that maybe you didn't even know existed. Β Basically we will be pulling all the pieces of a poem apart to see what makes it tick.
A word of caution before we begin; this won't be a look at any specific βpoetic techniquesβ like rhyme, metaphor, or line breaks. If you want that, take a look at my series: The Poetry Primer: Alliteration to Zeugma. Neither will this be a discussion of common ways amateur poets damage their own creations. If you want that, take a look at my other series Bad Poetry: A How-Not-To Guide.
Instead, this series is aimed at a slightly different audience. Not at the amateur poets, or those just taking the first few baby steps into the world of poetic expression but at those poets who have been writing a few years, maybe have a couple poems published by small journals or online presses, and now want to reach a bit higher and really hone their craft to a fine razorβs edge. If that describes you, you're in luck. This series is for you.
So let's dig right in and start peeling back the layers. Sharpen your knives, gentlemen and gentle-ladies. We're going straight through the chest cavity this time and examining...
#The Heart
Let's start our discussion by asking ourselves a question: what type of thing is a poem?
Well, poetry can be described in all of these waysβit is:
one of the arts
an outlet of human expression
a creative construction of language
a form of literature
an oral tradition
Because it can be all these things, or some of them, or even just one at a time, creating a comprehensive definition of βpoetryβ for all poems at all times throughout the entire expanse of human history is a game only the very foolish or the very ignorant will play for long. You will quickly find that every poem is its own little universe with rules and grammars and priorities and
