Are UFOs The Forbidden Frontier Of American Democracy? β Liberation Times | Reimagining Old News
So America western expansion is romanticized into the βWild Westβ and the adventure filled frontier. Itβs a whole genre that still commands public attention, as we can see from red dead redemptions popularity.
Does the Russian frontier in Siberia and Central Asia mythologized in the same way. Is there a whole genre based around 18th and 18th century eastern expansion in the same way we have Westerns in America?
Were they similar to the ancient Roman frontier fortifications? Can anyone put me in the direction of a resource, be it book, YouTube or web article, where I can learn? Iβve recently been fascinated by this topic but havenβt been able to find any information on my own.
Thank you.
Im very interested in those settings right now and would like a a good story or history on them
Looking for any rule sets that can be modified to best suit the 18th century North American eastern frontier (thatβs not specific to the US revolutionary war).
Battles of which Iβm drawing inspiration:
Most notable mechanics Iβm looking for:
Iβd like any rules to be historical in the blending of the European and native cultures that frequently saw a lot of collaboration.
Not sure anything this specific exists, but if there is anything close that I can manipulate to fit or combine with additional rules, it would be greatly appreciated. Honestly the closest game I know of with a close βfeelβ to the scale I want is Saga. Scalable but is still on the smaller side of engagements.
The idea of the American West has always fascinated me. I want a book that shows what life was like in that region, as well as its transformation. Let me know if I need to be more specific, thanks!
In my American history classes, the idea that westward expansion offered a "safety valve" for the discontented came up several times.
Does current historiography still find this idea plausible?
I would have been between third and sixth grade when reading this, as part of a school program in Columbus, OH. The main character was a girl living with her family (Baum Family) in a rural area in a rural area as a settler in the IIRC the midwest. The story itself was mostly slice-of-life, including such details as how sugar was sold, how musket balls were made, how smoking was performed, one scene where the father told the story of him mistaking a tree stump for a bear on his way home, etc.. The story takes place in multiple seasons.
The story itself was unusual or rare; it was printed from a home computer rather than as a published book and may have originally been a serial novel of some sort. I do not remember the title (though it may have contained the family's last name) and I never learned when it was published. I do not remember the character's first name, nor her precise age.

Basically what the title says lol. Just started watching hardcore history.. and just finished Blueprint for Armageddon.. now watching Wrath of the Kahns.. and was thinking how cool an old west or American frontier show would be
I started playing frontier recently. I live in america, I play on the south american server. My ping has never passed 135ms. Now, some people complain that tw is on 5 pm pst, but back on the NA server, tw starts at 6 pm pst, so it's not a huge difference. The south american server size is considered small, but I would say it is still 2-4 times larger than the NA server.
Currently there is no cross server match making between south america, middle east, and asia, but hopefully blooming implement this in the future. If you are playing in early morning hours, you will 100 percent be matched with bots, but I see this as an advantage, the wins are quick and you get enormous amounts of bronze and exp.
There are some english speakers here. I have not looked for a house yet. I'm just looking to get established at this point. Solo play doesn't really bother me. I will be looking for an english house in the future. The chat also has a tool that translate languages for you.
The whole Survival Sim genre has been expanded a lot lately with all different kinds of settings to live out a Survival Fantasy, No More Room Left in Hell being a realistic & scary Survival Sim experience of a Zombie Apocalypse, The Long Dark being a beautifully scary experience in surviving the Anarchic collapse of a fallen society up against harsh nature, Subnautica being a experience of exploring a foreign ocean amongst surviving it, & Green Hell being a horrific simulation of surviving a harsh Jungle full of dangerous people you canβt understand.
But one concept that hasnβt been explored that I would absolutely love to see done right, is the American Frontier, I imagine it being like a First Person Open World Survival Sim experience, but combined with Construction & Management, like running a ranch to get by, having to make close calls in shooting off cattle thieves, exploring a forest only to accidentally end up in a bandit territory that doesnβt want you there, facing a ferocious bear out in the snowy barren mountains, think of it like Red Dead Redemption meets New Vegas meets The Long Dark.
I am no game developer, but it would be amazing to see someone somewhere do this concept justice, I would love to experience Survival in the American Frontier in video game form.
Given this time is pre-gold rush, and before the belief of Manifest Destiny was widely held.......How might my family react to a decision to βhead West?β
If i have enough money can i demand a lawyer and a trial? How is this likely to go for poor and rich people navigating what would have a been a rather thin court system near the frontier.
