Iβve been keenly aware of how dangerous it is to have connection (internet), communication (platform, apps) and power (utilities) in the hands of the few. Iβm not very up to speed on agorism but you were welcoming in the past when I had questions.
What is the agorist perspective on how communication should play out in a free society? Whatβs the ideal alternative to where we are today?
Thanks in advance. Trying to wrap my head around alternatives.
Hi,
I've generally heard syndicalism described as the view that trade unionism is the best path to the abolition of government. I've also heard agorism described as the idea that the black market should be used to peacefully replace the state and achieve anarchism. Do these ideologies touch on anything other than practice. Is there theory involved? Do the thinkers of syndicalism and agorism have anything to say on how they would with to structure society after the end of the government? Are these ideas purely of the rail and not of the station?
Can anyone explain to me the key economic difference between agorism and anarcho capitalism. Iβve been looking online and canβt find anything which really makes me see the difference. All I have seen is that agorists use the grey and black markets to subvert state power. But as far as Iβm aware ancaps belive in the same concept. Can anyone help me?
I heard it has something to do with black & grey markets but I don't fully understand it
I just heard about Agorism in a cryptocurrency discussion.
In short, it's sort of a form of libertarian civil-disobedience with a stateless free market goal. The idea is to use grey-markets instead of state-approved white-markets to starve the state of its revenue, transferring its responsibilities over to decentralized institutions.
Agorism seems to be this brother ideology of Ancap that seems to be accepted by some left wing communities as an actual anarchist ideology. What do you think?
After reading a great deal of anarchist literature, Iβve basically come to the conclusion that Agorism presents the best strategy for actually security liberty. I donβt want to get too much into the praxis debate, but I basically consider Agorism to be much more practical and consistent with anarchist principles.
That being said, almost all Agorist theory pre-supposes the existence of a market. This makes it only really make sense for achieving systems of market-anarchy (mutualism, market-socialism, individualist anarchism, etc.)
From my point of view, Iβm not opposed to anarcho-communism (or other forms of collectivist anarchism, like syndicalism, which donβt want markets), but the fact that it isnβt consistent with agorist praxis makes it seems much less practical to me. Iβm wondering if thereβs any anarcho-communists here who are familiar with agorist theory, and could enlighten me on the AnCom viewpoint of Agorism.
Iβve heard that itβs a form of free market anarchism, but is also anti-capitalist. Can anybody explain it to me?
Thanks
I was reading the popular "what is agorism" thread, and while i certainly like the idea of agorism, it seems far to idealistic, particularly because of the need for a mass transition. People dont like change.
Its obvious massive cities like NYC and LA could not be sustained in agorism, how would we support and exodus from these cities?
How would we deal with educating people to live off the land? Particularly the types of people in a city who have never even seen a cow?
How would we deal with the loss of factories and technology that currently control everyones lives, which imo also cant really be supported by agorism.
Kinda curious coming from an Agorist, the stances on Agorism from other people ( brief explanation: Its Left Rothbardianism that prioritizes Pacifism above all else and believes the best way for a Pacifist Society to exist is an Anarchist, Culturally Left and Economically Right Wing Society and the best way to do this is to utilize Grey and Black Markets instead of relying on White Markets. Its more complicated than that, but its a brief explanation )
Because government is mind control and taxation = theft.
While I was chatting with my comrade he told me my profile picture is an "agorism flag" (my pfp is a black and white gif of the black-red anarchist flag waving).
Hey all,
Iβm a Marxist, but Iβm curious about a variety of economic models and ideas, and what little I know about agorism is very interesting to me. I love the idea of revolutionaries creating their own systems (financial and otherwise) and learning to rely on ourselves first.
What are the most important pieces to read if I am wanting to learn more? This could be work that is directly about the ideology or maybe just related in your opinion.
Thanks in advance!
