I've wanted to tell these stories for awhile, and I can't think of a better place that would appreciate the horror, pain and suffering of all this. I made a throwaway just in case (I've posted here a few times before). Not that I'd care if these people found my posts, cuz they could sure do with a strong dose of reality, but still...
A bit of background as to why I submitted myself to this torture: Hubbers and I had a long distance relationship and when we decided to move in together, it made more sense for me to move here with him. He had a better job, nicer place to live and a close-knit, supportive family. That catch was all the hoops we'd have to jump through for me to live in another country. It's a long, expensive, tricky process with lots of secretive, hidden info (my theory is they don't want tons of immigrants, so they make it super hard) that would take several years to complete. In the meantime, I can stay here as an implied resident, but I can't work. Which brings me to The Beginning.
So near the end of the year, hubbers work had their annual Christmas party, where we met up with one of his really good friends that also happened to work there (we'll call him No Balls) and his gf/fiance/wife (who shall be known as Bitch Face). No Balls and Bitch Face have two brats, brats that surpass ALL bratty, snot-nosed spawns from Hell (we will call them Thing 1 and Thing 2). Well Bitch Face was going on about how sad she was that her maternity leave was up in a few months (they get a whole year of maternity leave!) and that she wasn't looking forward to going back to work cuz of the cost of daycare would pretty much just be her entire pay for the month.
Now I didn't know them well at the time, we'd only met once or twice before, but I was eager to help hubbers out financially as he was footing all the bills. The next words out of my mouth pretty much ruined my life for the next year and a half, but I jokingly said, "Heck, pay me half of that and I'll do it!" Oh gawds, if I only knew...
We all had a good laugh at the time, because they knew I was very CF and didn't particularly like kids very much. At that point, I just really didn't get the big deal about them and was uncomfortable because I don't know what to do or how to act. I generally like them more the older they get, as long as they aren't complete doucheroosters.
