A list of puns related to "70 Mm Film"
Without getting into the specifics of this film in order to remain anonymous... I may be in possession of a cannister of film that is labeled with "Apollo #, #, #", "Film Type: Master", "Film Size: 70mm". This label also says "JSC Form 2138 (May 66) ... NASA-JSC" near the bottom. This film came from a legitimate source through a professional/friendly relationship a few decades ago and has been in my family's possession ever since.
Upon careful inspection, the first few frames that I can see of the physical film in the cannister match up exactly with digitized footage found online for one of the Apollo missions that is labeled on the cannister. I haven't looked at any of the rest of the film for fear of damaging it, but there is a significant amount. Probably a couple pounds worth.
Before doing anything with this film, I would like to have it inspected for it's legitimacy and see if this is indeed the original master film shot on these missions. Does anyone have any recommendations for a service/location that could do this for me? I am against shipping anything in the mail for obvious reasons and am located in northern central Texas. If there is a more appropriate subreddit for this type of question, please let me know.
I just got out of the 6pm showing of "Hateful 8" at Park Theatre, the only place that is playing it as of right now. While the movie itself was a fun time, as Tarantino films usually are, I went to this screening (even though it was an hour trip for me to get there) because it was the only chance I thought I might be able to experience it in film as Tarantino had made it: in 70 MM film.
However, as the movie wrapped up, a few moments before the credits rolled, the movie stopped and the manager came out to tell us we had been watching digital. There was a problem with the film, so they decided to show us the digital. In return, we got a popcorn coupon on our way out. The problem I have is that they did not tell us during the movie that anything had changed. One could notice a significant change early on in the movie, but I merely assumed it was the use of a color filter, as I was assured this was a film projection.
Call me a film snob, but I didn't come out all the way out there to experience it in digital, I could have easily waited for the digital wide release at closer theatres. I can't remember the last time I saw an actual movie on film, and wanted the experience. If they had stopped the movie, apologized, and reissued a ticket for a later date, I would have ultimately been fine with it. But the problem is that rather than tell us, they waited until the end of the movie so that when many of the audience members asked for refunds, they could say "you saw the whole movie".
So if you are just looking to catch the new Tarantino film, by all means check it out, its a great movie! But for the people out there who wanted to see it in 70 MM, please be warned, it is a DIGITAL.
TL;DR: Park Theatre is showing digital version of "Hateful 8", even though the website claims it is a 70 MM film version.
Comes with accessories small rig cage , custom battery grip and original batteries and both custom battery grip charger and regular batteries charger canon
What are the noticeable differences between 70 mm film and 35 mm and any other size of film? And why not just use digital?
