TIL that Die Hard, much debated over whether or not it is a Christmas film, was first released to cinemas in the middle of July 1988. Its distributor, 20th Century Fox, had greenlit the screenplay in June 1987 because they needed a summer blockbuster for the following year. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die…

TIL that the first Star Wars (1977) movie was offered by George Lucas to Disney but got declined. It was released by FOX instead and became then the highest grossing movie ever. Decades later, Disney would buy both the Star Wars franchise and 20th Century Fox in deals worth billions. indianexpress.com/article…

(Mistake or Simpsons-esque prophecy?) In Addams Family Values (1994), the kids are being punished by means of positive family entertainment. Joel says β€œbut… It’s Disney.β€œ Then, The Sound of Music begins to play, which, was owned by 20th Century Fox, but is now, technically, a Disney movie.

So as far as I understand... 20th Century Fox had the rights to produce Mega Man live action movie, but after Disney acquired it, everything went silent. Now the project headed to Netflix. Can a similar fate happen to Alita IP?

(Correct me if I'm wrong about the info in the title)

So I brought it up because the scenario already looks familiar - 20th Century Fox wanted to produce something (Alita sequel/Mega Man movie) but after Disney bought 20thCF, the projects got abandoned by the new owner.

I guess Disney sold the rights to produce Mega Man movie to Netflix. Will it do the same with Alita?
