A list of puns related to "1950s Fashion"
Apologies if this has been asked before, but why is the Bad Place stuck in 1950s fashion? We see this when our four heroes need to dress to fit in, and we see this with Shawn and his lackeys.
Are the creators of The Good Place saying the 1950s were a time of evil?
Hi! Iβm researching some accurate 1950βs outfits to see for myself as a mildly plus size person (I teeter in between straight and plus size). Patterns are mostly sold as reproductions from the era and none are in my size, so I just want to know what someone my size would actually wear in their 30βs from the 1950βs- 1955 to be exact, but I am Open to the entire decade.
Weβre fashions becoming more size-inclusive at this point, or weβre clothes more stylish for smaller sizes only?
Additionally, what were undergarments like for plus size women?
Im also seeing that culottes are popular form the 1930βs through the 50βs. Does this sound right?
The book I'm looking for is a fashion illustration book from approximately 1950. It was given to me by my grandmother when I was a child approximately 1994, but she stopped illustrating 1957. It was oversized, about 16 inches by 10, and had a hardback gray cover. The beginning of the book was a textbook of fashion illustration, mostly text with some drawings all black and white. The last 25-30 pages of the book were drawings of "costume through the ages", approximately 6 per page of the Romans through the 1950s. Thank you for your help.
Everybody from the ages 13-24 suddenly start dressing up in 1950s American era vintage clothing and start copying the accent those people commonly spoke and the music they danced and listened to. They also start engaging in pastimes that were common at the time.
Teens and young adults who don't live in English speaking countries can now suddenly talk to and understand eachother in an American Transatlantic accent. They still also start dressing up in 1950s American vintage clothing and start doing generic 1950s era pastimes all while completely ignoring school uniforms, or mandatory dress codes.
They don't copy the discrimination that was more common at the time. All of them are permenantly stuck in a 1950s way of life, but they can still use modern technology easily and understand modern languages.
How do other generations react to this? What ends up happening next?
Hi guys,
I'm attending a vintage event for 1940s to 1960s and was wondering if I could get your advice. I have a 3 piece oak green woollen suit, a get flat cap and dark brown leather brogue boots. What style/colour of shirt and tie/cravat, would be period correct and look good?
Thank you very much
I'm taking about 1950s fashion in the west (just trying to avoid any confusion) honestly can it at least be normalized so there isn't extreme social pressure against it l would love to (actively permitting) waer a suit as casual clothing and im sure many other people would like to wear 1950s clothing to but if you do it the whole town has a problem with it and you have to admit it looks a lot better then ripped jeans and shirts with stupid designs on it among many other things
Lately I've been trying to find out more about Black women's hairstyles in the US in the late 1940s and early 1950s. I'm particularly interested in ordinary, everyday hairstyles or even evening out ones, but not the only-celebrities-wear-it ones. Which ones were popular in which years, etc. Also in what social/economic class, if it varies. My undestanding modern weave wasn't invented until the 1950s and the hot comb was common.
I just really wanted to know if there were particular styles that defined that era.
Also, were there any fashions (clothing, jewelry, makeup) more common to black women, similar to the Zoot suit in a certain era?
Hello.. Iβm interested in learning about fashion in Brazil during the 1950s for a podcast I produce. Trouble is, beyond googling, Iβm pretty green when it comes to the world of fashion. As such, I was hoping someone here might be able to give me some pointers or help direct me towards particular places of interest. Any leads would be welcome! Many thanks!
