A list of puns related to "Zelda Breath Of The Wild"
BOTW was a game that appealed to all gamers, not just Zelda fans due to the big shifts in the formula. So I am curious if for those of you who a) have never played a zelda game before or b) was not a fan of the series prior to this. Did BOTW make you invested in the franchise?
Did you want to play the older games due to how much you enjoyed BOTW?
Lttp but I finally played Breath of the Wild. I'm a huge Zelda fan, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess are some of my favorite games of all time. The main reasoning is the dungeons. And there simply isn't any in Breath of the Wild. Sure theres shrines but they're all relatively short and revolve around 4 puzzles and that's it. There's also the Divine Beasts but they're also pretty short and it's just one big open area rather than an actual dungeon. It's still a great game, huge open world, although it's pretty empty imo. It just doesn't feel like a Zelda game. Zelda is supposed to have these huge dungeons that make you think using the new tools you've acquired along with a boss battle using said new tool. That's what I love about Zelda. But this game decided to focus more on the exploration factor rather than the actual puzzles which is a shame imo. Personally I feel like it should've just been a new IP as that's what it feels like to me, just I'm a Zelda world. But here's hoping Breath of the Wild 2 will come back with dungeons.
Woo!
So I bought BotW with the switch, super excited to play. I'm a HUGE fan of the Zelda fans. Put it in, and couldn't get into it. Tried Mario Oddessy that came with the console and loved it! (Which is odd as I'm not normally a fan of Mario games)
Since then I have gone back a few time to BotW, the longest stretch being a week of playing it while I was sick, and while it's not a bad game, something isn't clicking with me and I can't say I enjoy it, but I can't put my finger one why. I can't even say I haven't given it enough if a chance, as I beat 3 out of 4 dungeons.
Did anyone else have this problem? If so, what caused you to not enjoy the game?
I'm vegan irl too
I finally finished the main game last night after putting in many, many hours. Ultimately I found all of the memories, completed the 4 divine beasts, about 20 or so side quests, completed tarrey town, bought and fully furnished the house in hateno, unlocked the 4 great fairies and bought most armor sets and upgraded the ancient, cold, and fire armor to 2 stars, 60ish shrines, and ~50 koroks before I decided to go see the ending.
First I want to say that I loved the game and it was definitely the best game I have played in years. I am a huge Zelda fan with posters, t-shirts, and even a tattoo. I do plan to go back through and try to do all shrines, koroks, and sidequests.
So my first complaint. The game didn't have enough real dungeons. The 4 divine beasts seemed to be the only real dungeons similar to past zelda dungeon design except they were missing enemies. Hyrule castle could be considered another dungeon but it let you bypass much of the area if you had the updraft ability. The shrines were like mini-dungeons, but they were so short and easy that even if you made a big dungeon out of 10 shrines they just didn't feel challenging. Past games would require you to use a multitude of abilities/items from previous dungeons in order to get through the whole dungeon. Since BotW is open world and you can do the divine beasts in any order you choose, your only real requirement is to complete the great plateau to get your sheikah slate abilities unlocked and you can complete any of the divine beasts or even just go straight to Ganon.
The game was too easy. I went through the elephant divine beast with only 5 hearts and 1 extra stamina. I defeated the boss there on my first attempt. After I finished the first divine beast I went shrine hunting and unlocking stuff on the map for a long time and when I was finally able to get the master sword, I swapped out hearts for a full 2nd wheel of stamina. From this point onward everything in the game was incredibly easy. The full extra stamina bar let me climb and glide pretty much anywhere I wanted and the bosses in the remaining 3 divine beasts were all easily defeated on the first attempt with the master sword. The only real challenge seemed to come with the second phase of the first fight with Ganon. I am still not entirely sure how you are supposed to do that part of the fight, but a combination of camel divine beast ability and time stop made quick work of it. In many cases the mini-bosses on the world map were m

I haven't yet been really able to play the ezio games or origins or Odyssey, but I've been paying a lot of attention to how many are regarding every game since 3 but especially the since the last 2 came out. Some of us Zelda fans feel very similar to the latest zelda game, Breath of the Wild. It too was made when the developers felt the old formula was getting stale and the last game in the series didn't sell well. It also added a lot of rpg elements that zelda has never had before. In fact some would say that they changed so much in this new game is not even a zelda game. The only difference really is even people like me who feel this way about breath of the wild, or BOTW for short, we still feel it's an amazing game, one of the best of all time, where as some here think the newer games are just terrible simply as games.
For people like me the problem with botw isn't what was added, it what was taken out. Series staples such as massive dungeons, special items and metroid like progression were simpler gone altogether. The story is also much less important then in the other games. If they simply added every thing they did but kept the series staples I would have been thrilled and there would be nothing to talk about. I feel for assassin's creed the same applies. I think well implemented rpg additions would work fine as long as classic elements such as a strong emphasis on stealth, modern day, likable characters, actual parkour and so on were still around. There's really no reason to add a bunch of stuff but also take out series staples.
Maybe Ubisoft had the right intentions to revitalized the series for the fans, but regardless they have lost the favor of many, and as a Zelda fan with the knowledge Nintendo is not ever planning to go back to the classic formula, even if botw was massively successful, I can't help but feel some kinship with with the naysayers, since I'm part of a very small minority in the zelda fan base. I hopefully soon will be able to play the ezio games, I can't say I will prefer them simply becuase they are the way the series started, but I think I will prefer the "feel" of the way the games were meant to be more, if that makes sense.
