A list of puns related to "Videography"
I am getting married in October and Iβm looking for wedding videographers in my area. They are so expensive! For a 2-3 minute edited video, Iβm looking at $4,000+
For those whoβve done it, is wedding videography worth it? Do you actually watch your wedding video?
For those who decided not to do it, did you regret it? Why or why not?
Iβm so conflicted.
Edit: would you guys recommend a black magic 6k pro ?
Because he was a little jerky.
This obviously depends on what kind of look and feel you want to go for, but what are really the "standard"/average focal lengths used for videography?
For example, in photography people prefer to use 80mm or higher for portraits, but would the same focal length be desirable for lets say, an interview? Or would a 50mm/30 to 35mm be adequate?
I want to get more into videography. I own a m43 system with a 25mm 1.7 (50mm focal length due cropfactor) and recently acquired the 12-40mm 2.8 (24-80 focal length).
Hi, I'm looking to get into shooting basketball tournaments, and potentially any other sports I can work on. I'm not looking to break the bank on my first sports video lens, so I would like to know if any of you have recommendations that fall under $300 that are super effective and get the job done. I'm shooting on a Sony A7RII.
I would say Lady Gaga unfortunately devolved with her music videos they used to such events and it seems like she's been phoning it in when it comes to her videography these days.
So Iβm a long time photographer whose had his R5 for a few months now, and I want to slip it into video mode, and realised Iβm WAY out of my depth π£
I bought the CFExpress in prep for this journey, through the thing into clog3 and imported the output into premiere and it looks⦠meh.
Is anyone able to provide me the right things to look for? I can see the clog lute exist but other than that I donβt know what I should be looking for, really.
Thanks in advance! And apologies for the noobish blanket question!
Question in the title! I want to get some more advice and inspiration on taking some headshots and band promo shots of musicians. I'm most particularly interested in any content creators who give tips and advice, but also happy to look through people who just post their work if you know of anyone. Thanks!
Ive already got the Mobo and CPU lying around doing nothing so i figure its time to build somewhere to store all of my projects. Ive currently got 8tb or so in use, some of it is active projects and files I need available for future projects. Looking to eventually have 48tb total, with half of that being usable, and the other half will be a mirror copy. But for now it will be 32tb, with 16 usable. Im putting together the additional parts I need, and wondering if there's anywhere I can save a few bucks, or if there's items I need to get better versions of. This will be a storage only system with no other uses so it doesnt need to do much. It also wont be running 24/7, I usually move active projects onto a Samsung T5 SSD for editing.
And when I add the two additional 8tb drives to get to the 48tb goal, I'll need to use a pci expander I'm assuming, unless there's a better option!
Would love some help!

Title. Budget is 500-800$, but I really would like to keep it as cheap as possible. Anyone have good recommendations?
Bonus questions:
- A good prime lens for this instance?
- Anyone care to share the biggest thing they have learned in real estate videography?
Iβve always been interested in film and photo but never really followed through and really invested time, resources and energy into it.
Now that Iβm a bit older, have some more financial freedom and can invest some more time into it I really would like to learn more about videography. But as always, the internet is a curse and a blessing at the same time. I feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, guides, videos and tutorials.
Iβm also fairly new to reddit but was hoping to get a bit more guidance here, so here I am.
How to start becoming a videographer? What guides to read, what tutorials to watch, what equipment to start with? Any tips at all? Iβm not really bound to a specific type of video making just want to start learning how to make good videos / mini movies etc.
Iβm grateful for any help that i can get.
Hey guys, I would love to have some opinion about if I should continue or not, especially I am not sure if it's my problem or it's just the nature of this business.
Long story short, I quit my high pay job in the financial industry to re-discover my life (33 yr. old) by traveling the world, I end up finding that I love making video as I did a lot while traveling. I got the idea to make 60 seconds video like Video CV, or pitching video. SO I paired up with a photographer and start this together.
We started from the 1st low-paid client, and work all the way up. As covid hits, I started to provide live streaming service as well ( I had a computer engineering background). Overall we have about 1 to 2 gigs per month, mainly 60 seconds pitching video. Since I am quite good at public speaking, so I also offer storytelling/elevator pitch service in our 60 seconds video package.
It's been almost 21 months since we started and looking at the numbers, I am only earning 40% of what I used to earn, which means I am just barely surviving every month. I start to wonder if videography as a business would work in a way that I can have a high-quality living or not.
The two bottlenecks are :
[a] as a crew of 2 people, we are def., not filmmakers, not like those who have a big crew with lots of equipment. Though most of our clients like our work and the biggest client is also the recurring one. We feel happy that our video has helped clients (startups) get funding from the government.
The only way I see to scale this business is to have more high-paid clients, by hiring more people. Or make it as a marketing company instead. Our USP is that while we make good videos, like I said, I am a quite good speaker so I can help clients to draft/ fine-tune their pitch.
[b] we do not actually have enough clients, some may say this is normal due to covid, but I dont want to blame Covid. Somehow I also feel like people treat videographer just as a commodity, they don't really see the value behind it.
That's the background story.
Can anyone of you share a bit especially if you were coming from a corporate background, is your earning less than before, do you have to sacrifice your living standard just to do what you like? How is it working for you? How did you scale up the business?
Deep down I really want it to work, but I felt like it's been already 20 months and I don't know if this is gonna be profitable as I think most people cannot afford a few thousand for
... keep reading on reddit β‘The purpose for this post to exist is to be a congregate of resources I've come upon over the course of several years growing my business from the ground up. In some way, it's a bit selfish so that I can pool together links for future reference - and also just share this post with people that approach me for advice in the future.
My goal here is to make us all on the path to be millionaires, because it is my belief that the field of video has replaced Engineering, accountant, financing, law and other previously prestigious degrees as now the most profitable.
If you choose to disagree, this post is not for you. If you see the potential of what impact your skills as a videographer can provide to the world & the value in return you can grant yourself, stick around.
The problem
The video industry is currently not equipped to solve business problems. In film school, video school, video YouTube channels, and other resources as such - we aren't taught how to leverage our skillset to earn money for ourselves and produce profit to bring value to others.
There isn't a business out there that would reject the idea that video wouldn't help their business grow. The issue here is these business owners, and us as videographers cannot quantify the results of our work.
When peers reach out and ask me how I go about pricing my videos - the answer to the mystery above is the difference between our prices. It has nothing to do with how good you are with a camera. What you charge $1,500 for - I might be able to charge $10,000 and hire you at your rate.
This raises an ethics question. Is it ethical? Absolutely. I paid you exactly what you asked for. Didn't blink, didn't negotiate. How many clients do you have currently as good as me?
Is it ethical for the the client? Absolutely. I drive a 2017 Honda Accord with 37mpg. My client drives a brand new Audi A5. Both of our cars do the same exact thing. Get us to our destination. Yet, he paid 3x more than I did for my car. He values coolness and speed. I value reliability & gas mileage.
For that $10,000 video - the reason I am able to charge that much is because I have a proven track record of being able to give a 10x ROI on my work. A video is useless unless it is applied well. You can upload it to Instagram, let it live and die there and have it be worth nothing. Or you can learn how to apply that video to make it profitable for

I have a budget of 3000aud left after the camera and microphones. I still need to buy a cage for the 6k (I think I'll get the SmallRig 3299 kit), I have the Canon 50mm and 24-105mm from our photography cameras, but I want to get a dedicated video lens. I'm currently choosing between the Rokinon/Samyang 24mm and the Sigma 18-35mm (I was told by a cinematographer that the fixed lens is better quality that the sigma but it doesn't seem to be the case reading reviews) I'll be shooting social media content and small ads, so more interview style or people doing activities. Also looking at the Neewer 2 pack RGB led light video kit and or the nanlite lumipad kit... The lumipad is triple the price but looks a bit more professional than the Amazon kit, I'm just not sure!

I am getting married in October in Burlington (but live in Raleigh) and Iβm looking for a wedding videographer. Most of the companies Iβve reached out to cost $4,000+ for a 2-5 minute video.
Does anyone know of any other videographers in the area that may be a bit cheaper to stay within my budget? Can be Raleigh or anywhere in NC if willing to travel!
The good news is that I recently got a 9-5 job after years and years of weird random schedules. Bad news is that this probably eliminates going back to college in the traditional sense.
I'd really love to take some classes in photography, shooting video and film this year. And I'm open to everything, since I'm not sure if a traditional college class schedule would work for me.
Anyone here have any suggestions? I thought maybe there's an underworked pro willing to make some extra money on the weekends, or an indie filmmaker collective, or some kind of community college or adult learning annex program I haven't heard of yet.
Thanks!
My fiancΓ© and I are eloping in nature next autumn with a limited number of witnesses (probably just with a brother each, possibly a couple of close friends too). Both of us dislike being the center of attention, but we also want a special day with no stress. We each have divorced parents, and I know all eight of them would behave if they were invited, but we would really just rather notβ¦.do that. We already plan to have a photographer. So my question is, is it worth it to also have a videographer? Iβm thinking it would be nice to have a short video that we could also share with our parents and any other family and friends that wonβt be there. The photographer Iβve found that I like is $1500 for just photography and $2800 for both film and photography (her wife would do the film and I like their vibe and I think it might actually help with us not liking attention on us having an extra person, if that makes sense). Just not sure if an extra $1300 is worth itβ¦but itβs also our wedding so like..why not? Has anyone else chosen to go for video or chosen not to and had regrets either way?
so iβm an 18 year old who has a passion for videography and i work for a wedding catering buisness part time. i see people who do the photography/ videography there all the time and theyβre always happy and love what they doing. so i wanted to try and maybe work towards a job like that.
are there any tips anybody can give me to help me get into something like this? i have no idea what iβm doing so.
also there is an issue of equipment. i am broke barely making enough as it is and have nothing to work with. is it realistic to film weddings for people with very inexpensive equipment? or should i strive to get at least amateurish equipment before starting anything? Thanks in advance ~ <3
Hi everyone, I recently posted a question whether there is money to be made in real estate photo- & videography. Many of you responded and we had examples for and against it however it seems to be a very repetitive field. Along this weddings were mentioned as a much better pay rate for each job, even so they can also be repetitive and can be a lot more work that day and afterwards for the editing. Some mentioned that they aim to move towards commercial shoots and many seem to dream of earning a living with documentaries, short films and movies. So my question is, what are the most lucrative fields out there as there are many more fields for example in the commercial sector like food, cars or events. Where is the biggest money to be made and what are the pros and cons for each? I know this is a wide topic so happy to hear about all experiences, what topic did you focus on and why? πΈππ₯
First I want to say I am totally newbie in videography. With my a7c and 28-60mm kit lens I am not satisfied with landscape videography. Also struggling to find any resources regarding to landscape videography.
After some some research I came up with samyang 24 f2.8 prime lens (since I do vlogging too).
And why choosing prime lens is because of weight( use it with a7c with crane m2) also for low light.
Hope will get some advice/resources from your experience. Thanks in advance.
Been at it for a while and want to know any tips on how you guys were able to support yourselves full time with your work? I do fashion films and music videos mainly. Would love to know what your focus is and how long it took as well as any tips. Thanks!
Hey,
I was wondering if there is a list with all the different Linkin Park songs? Like all studio songs, LPU songs, unreleased tracks in general, covers (like NIN or Adele) and live tracks not included in releases etc.? I've searched the internet but all the time there were songs missing...
I've collected many songs over the years and I'm just curious whether I've missed some of them :)
I appreciate any kind of advice!
Thank you!
Iβve been working at my job doing videography for 4 months now (initially was hired as a photographer but havenβt taken a single photo) and I continue to make little mistakes here and there and do not feel confident in my skills, how long did it take you to become comfortable doing videography where you felt like you wouldnβt mess up every shoot?
Would be interested in reading up more photography books for the new year!
I currently have Liam Wong's To: Ky: Oo and may also be interested in Tyler Mitchell's "I Can Make You Feel Good."
Hoping to hear any recommendations for photography books that you covet!
I have a brand new drone that shoots sick photos/videos, I'd love to test it out and have some fun. You wanna make a music video? Make a short Film? I'll help - things like this Seem fun. I'm down to just do shit that is productive but at the same time fun.
Not really looking for someone to just get wasted with and stare at a tv... cool, fun shit that has value in life would be optimal!
Hi! This is my first time posting anything on here; but I wanted to hop on to converse with any Adele residency attendees out there. I am fortunate to go see Adele opening night and was curious to hear peoples ideas on what the setlist might be since I have yet to read anything on the subject! Or what the venue will be like since I havenβt been to Vegas before.
I also wanted get an idea on what some attendees are wearing for Adeleβs shows at the colosseum? We will be dressing to the nines, if course, with how much we spent on ticketsβ¦π³. But I didnβt know if there was a theme in the past with her shows or a dress code in general?
I was also hoping to get any advice from people who have gone to any concert in the past to get thoughts on videoing? I want to be present for everything but also want to remember this night as this will be my first concert. I donβt know if I should get my camera out at all or if I should just watch as there are multiple videos of earlier concerts that I can find online? Any thoughts will be helpful! Lastly, will there be merchandise for sale at the venue before/after the show since she has yet to add anything more to her online store to promote β30ββ¦
Iβm a beginner in all things related to videography, but was wondering if there are any free courses on video production, post-production, freelance business-related courses?
Howdy! Iβve been freelancing for a while and this past year Iβve gained a lot of interest in my services doing wedding videos and portrait photography. I have a few people lined up for next year and Iβm thinking I want to start an LLC to do this work more part time and maybe even eventually full time.
Iβd love any and all advice about starting your business, what your experience was like, equipment must haves, etc.!
