A list of puns related to "Unisys"
I found a solution to this issue as I'm building my own rig:
https://www.reddit.com/r/vintagecomputing/comments/dl6ebf/56pin_ideatapi_cdrom_connector/
For anyone else trying to figure out how to connect a CD-ROM to the 56-pins on the PDA-2000 motherboard you have to use a 50-pin cable and leave pins 1-6 open. The specific cable is a "50-Pin Mini IDC 2.0mm Laptop Ribbon Cable" and a Toshiba XM-1402B ATAPI CD-ROM with a 50 pin connection
50-Pin Mini IDC 2.0mm Laptop Ribbon Cable
You need to get a compatible CD-ROM drive with 50-pin ATAPI:
Toshiba XM-1402B ATAPI CD-ROM
or Toshiba XM-2402B ATAPI CD-ROM
Source is a PDA-2000 motherboard compatibility document: http://cwcyrix.nsupdate.info/ftp-archives/ftp.fic.com.tw/system_sff/misc/compatibility/Pda-2000/pda2000221c.PDF
The XM-1402B ATAPI CD-ROM has a 50 pin connection in the back that fits the cable shown above.
Here is what the back of the XM-1402B looks like:

Here is the manual for the PDA-2000 manual that says you can use a 50 pin cable in the 56 pin connector and just leave 6 pins uncovered:

Hope this helps someone!
I received a job offer at Unisys. From the little googlefu I did it is a mixed bag to work here. I don't know if a lot of the reviews were people that were mass laid of a while ago. I am curious what the environment is nowadays.
Edit: feel free to PM me if that works for you
Just to emphasize the advancement in Iota's technological maturity - Intel has been trying to find a solution for edge computing Data confidence layers with Chainlink from back in 2019, they may still be working with chainlink on this. (source https://blog.chain.link/driving-demand-for-enterprise-smart-contracts-using-the-trusted-computation-framework-and-attested-oracles-via-chainlink/ )
Dell announced project Alvarium in conjunction with Iota and Linux early 2020. The alvarium project was supported by industry leaders including Arm, IBM, IOTA Foundation, Mobiledge X, OSIsoft, Unisys and more. NOTE no mention of Intel. (source 10:50min - 19 Nov 2020- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNbJC9yqyVU)
Somewhere in between 19 November 2020 to February 2021 - Intel was introduced to Alavarium. In project Alvarium, Intel found a solution for edge computing and was comfortable enough to broadcast to their partners.
Although Iota's tangle was featured as the solution - this was a team approach, Iota was part of a team of professional businesses. The best thing that has come out of this is that Iota was part of a working group.
Key points related to Iota:
Works towards standardisation
Works as part of a professional working group providing edge computing solutions
Feeless
Open source
Fit for purpose
Chosen as the partner for data confidence fabric
Use case: Iota will allow businesses to monetize data without having to expose business processes.
I am having a very hard time getting a laptop repaired which is brand new out of the box. Unisys has not arrived at any of the scheduled visits for this repair, has not called to explain why they couldnβt make it, and this has been going on for a month. 4 missed rescheduled appointments so far. Anyone else having this low level of support for the business and enterprise sector?
I'm not a sports guy, but I figured with the Super Bowl just taking place, I'd use one for the title. This is definitely a rant. Just up to my eyeballs in frustration over HP/Unisys.
So a couple weeks ago we had a DL580 Gen 9 just turn off on it's own. So of course we turned it back on, and it stayed up for like 5 minutes then off again. So we opened a case. This is an ESXi host so we have 10 others in the cluster so not super critical to get back online, but we want it back as soon as possible.
1st Engineer visit: Replaced some parts, didn't get any better.
2nd Engineer visit: Replaced some parts, made it worse, server wouldn't even power up any more. Engineer put parts back into server that were there before.
3rd Engineer visit (today): Engineer replaced some different parts, and wow, server powers on. We're back in business! Except... not...
Apparently, the engineer (Unisys) on visit #2 decided to ship back our good HDDs with the other parts he shipped back to HP on visit #2. Same engineer visited all 3 times. But he actually called me to see if I knew where the HDDs were. I'm on the west coast, and the server on the east coast, so I have no clue. So the he admits to me that he accidentally shipped the HDDs back to HP. That he is going to call the Depot to see if they still have them, to ship them back to me.
I just got a call from HP support. Of course, the engineer didn't tell them he lost the HDDs, just put an order in for 2 new HDDs.
The incompetence of these companies are mind boggling.
Not sure if anyone can find this but I remember playing this game when I was a kid I am pretty sure it was an educational game since we played it on school computers. The computers at the time had a scroll ball instead of a mouse and the keyboard was attached. All I remember was almost all the pixel art was green and you'd answer questions and each time a dungeon door would open until you finally got to the end of the dungeon and got a golden chest.
I believe we played it on the ICON workstation made by Unisys.
I picked up this system on eBay last month to setup DOS/Win98 retro gaming system. I really like how small it is. The 1.2GB HDD does work but I removed it and replaced with a CF to IDE adapter. I modified the front of the case so I could swap the CF cards. I did add a Soundblaster CT4780 PCI sound card but was having issues with the performance in DOS. I ended up swapping with an ESS 1869 ISA sound card and it is working well in DOS and Win98. The first time I fired up Descent I was super stoked! I have also been playing Doom and Hexen. I have seen a couple of postings on vintagecomputing of similar systems. It did not come with a CD drive and the motherboard connector for it is not a standard 40 pin but is a 56 pin that has the same pin spacing as a 2.5" IDE HDD. I am determined to figure out the pinout and get a CD installed.

What's up guys!
$Unisys engages in security-centric information solutions for clients across the government, financial services, and commercial markets. I've looked at their client list, they have acquired some pretty big companies like Dell, Bank of China, Henkel, Hershey, Philips, Spirit . I've included all of these to show they have diversity in their portfolio. They are all throughout the world. They also have a Vimeo I will link down below that show their presentations and Q and A's.
I got in Unisys around 15$ a share. This December they broke all time highs of 21$ a share. They have been steadily climbing every week gaining about a dollar. This is a business that isn't hugely affected by COVID-19. The CEO said on Vimeo their "Net leverage has improved substantially over the past 12 months". Moving forward they are focusing on higher growth sub markets that have allowed for higher margins. These are submarkets where they have industrial leadership and are expected to capitalize. They are taking the solutions approach to acquire these new sub markets. These solutions are very custom to the client, but within the solution they have very structured framework and intellectual ability, this will allow maximum leverage and scale. The things they have done throughout 2020 will accelerate their maximum prophetization. I believe they are also consolidating all of their options of business into one. Also, they wiped out around more than 60% of their debt just this year. I feel like this is a very long term stock. They use to be volatile but that has changed after 2020.
Thanks for my 2 cents. Hope you guys find use of the info!
Has anyone used Unisys Stealth? What are your thoughts? Limitations you've come across?
https://stealthsecurity.unisys.com/products-services/
I'm trying to get a feel of the software and if others have had any issues with it.
Thanks in advance
