Do you think RT cores could be 'unified' with shader cores?

Kinda like how Nvidia unified pixel and vertex shaders with the legendary G80 processor back in mid 2000s?

Sounds like a no brainer to me, assuming it's possible that is!

Take 3070 for example. It has just 46 RT cores, compared to whopping 5,888 "unified shaders". Cobble them all together and you'll have a massive boost in RT performance!

Anyhow, that's what I'd in mind when I took the shower today... Hope you don't mind.

Shaders causing serious lagging on MBP M1 Pro 14" (base model).

Hey, I'm a total Minecraft and gaming newb. I got Minecraft about a month ago, playing vanilla since. Decided to try some shaders, downloaded Sildurs Vibrant Shaders which seemed from what I read to not have a high FPS cost. Anyway, it lags really bad. I have seen what seem to be much more intensive shader packs on the previous generation of M1 macs, so assumed the new MBP 14" could handle this easily. Are there adjustments that need to be made in settings? Any thoughts tips or advise would be welcome.

Main thing I tried with her is using one color to mix in with 80% of the colors on the model to try to give her a unified look, which is something I’ll definitely be doing again. Resources (models, shaders, rigs)

Hi Guys,

where do community usually find textures, models and rigs?
I am not talking about turbo or cgtrader but free one for learning purposes.

All websites like highend or gallery on autodesk seemed outdated.

I know that for houdini it is mostly odforce, blueprints. For blender it is blender artist and blenderkit. Unreal got marvelous epic marketplace, C4D have GSG and other. But I could not anything similar for maya.

Shader Graph | Why is my model disappearing?

I followed this tutorial to make swaying grass but wanted to use a full model rather than a plane, along with a texture of my choosing.

What is the standard way to use shaders with different models .

I'm building a simple rendering engine to learn OpenGL and I wanted to recognise what was the 'standard' way to use shaders when drawing multiple models? Should every model have its own shader? Or would you have the basic idea of a shader, bind it and then send uniform‍ variables into it to affect things like colour etc?

can't play infinite, says I'm missing shader model 6?

so it installed just fine but if I try to run it it gives me an error that says I'm missing shader model 6 and tells me to ensure that I have directX12 installed (which I do), then proceeds to act like it's running for a second or two but doesn't actually open, what does this even mean? is it currently fixable?

Edit: after some googling I found this info on my graphics card:

graphics specs: Radeon RX 580

openGL 4.6

OpenCL 2.1

Vulkan: 1.2

Shader model: 6.4

HELP: Cannot Launch Game! "Could not find compatible graphics device due to missing feature: Shader Model 6 and Hardware Tiled Resource Tier 2"

[FIXED]

Diehard Halo fan here...someone kind please help me!

I meet all the minimum hardware specification requirements, so please read my specs/troubleshooting attempts below before suggesting to update drivers, Windows 10, or get a new/better GPU/CPU. Thank you!

When launching from Steam or the Xbox App I get two separate errors in this order:

  1. β€œCould not find compatible graphics device due to the following missing feature: Shader Model 6. Please ensure you have a DirectX 12 compatible graphics adaptor and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer.”
  2. β€œCould not find compatible graphics device due to the following missing feature: Hardware Tiled Resources Tier 2. Please ensure you have a DirectX 12 compatible graphics adaptor and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer.”

However...

The Hardware Tile Resource Tier 2 version of the error ONLY APPEARS when the integrated graphics are enabled in Device Manager.

So, if Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 are ENABLED in Device Manager. I will get BOTH the Shader Model 6 and Hardware Tile Resource Tier 2 error

But, if Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 are DISABLED in Device Manager, I ONLY get the Shader Model 6 error.

It appears the game may be attempting to use my onboard graphics until I disable them even though my monitor is plugged into my 2070S.

DXCapsViewer interestingly shows that my Shader model is 5.1?? View the screenshot attached. How do I update this to 6? I thought this is supposed to happen automatically via installing the game and/or updated drivers?

I have tried the following to troubleshoot:

  • Updating Nvidia drivers to and beyond 496.49 including the recent updates as of Nov 16
    • Including uninstalling all previous drivers using DDU for a fresh install
  • Reinstalling DirectX 12 & verifying DirectX 12 in Dxdiag
  • Checking for Windows Updates (there are none)
  • Running windows update troubleshooter
  • Downloading/Launching from Steam and Xbox App
  • Reinstalling the game on Steam and Xbox App
  • Verifying file integrity on Steam
  • Disabling/uninstalling Motherboard graphics
  • Launching without High-Res Textures on Xbox App
  • Running sfs /scannow and DISM health cleanup commands
  • Verified I have over 150 GB free of SSD space
  • Verified my RTX 2070 Super has 8GB of VRAM (minimum is 4GB)
