For example, when G/S/C were first released, I really wanted a Wooper because I thought they were cute. I could not catch one to save my life. It was the first time I could remember going through all my pokeballs to try and catch a Pokémon. Multiple times. To this day it still feels like I have trouble catching them, and they’re mocking me with their cold, dead, fish eyes.

EDIT: Well, I applaud you all for following the rules of the subreddit, although I admit that this post got a lot more of a negative reaction than even I anticipated.
I just wanted to make it clear that this is an entirely fictional attraction, and I do not abuse animals nor am I attracted to real animals. I think the personification of the Pokémon is the reason why I like fictional animals over real ones - Fictional animals can have complex feelings and are fully sapient, which I like, but real animals don't share those qualities. If a real animal can't consent or experience romantic attraction, then I'm not interested.
Whether you want to label me as a zoophile or not boils down to semantics, but I think the important thing here is that I do have empathy towards animals and I am aware that real animals cannot be in relationships, so there really isn't anything to worry about.
I also regret mentioning anything about NSFW since a lot of you are assuming that this post is about sexual attraction. This post is not sexual.
