A list of puns related to "Thiosulfate"
Apparently the unstable complex [Fe(S2O3)2]- is formed at the beginning (violet colour) and turns colourless after time. The iron 3+ reduces to iron 2+ and this process can be catalysed but I don't know what reaction pathways the catalyst provides. Help would be appreciated!
Catalysts used are 2+ transition metal ions e.g. manganese (ii) chloride
I made a similar post earlier but I don't think I was specific enough.
In the lab, I liberated iodine by adding 0.12g of potassium iodate, dissolved in water, to 2g of potassium iodide and sulfuric acid. This was titrated against sodium thiosulfate.
I'm a bit lost on how to calculate the concentration of thiosulfate from this.
The two equations that I've derived so far, are:
2S2O3^2- + I2 ---> S4O6^2- + 2I^- and
IO3^- + 5I^- + 6H^+ ---> 3I2 + 3H2O
If I understand correctly, I need to work out the moles of 3I2 and this is equal to the moles of I2, then I work out the concentration from there. But which steps do I take to perform this calculation?
I'm thinking that I work out the moles of potassium iodate by doing mass/Mr, then proceeding from there, but really I have no idea.
Having a bit of trouble determining the dipole moment of thiosulfate. According to this link dipole should point toward the outside S but I couldn't figure out why. Why would there be a dipole between two S atoms?
Leo likes to talk about keeping blood pressure low and I wonder if he ever mentioned Sodium Thiosulfate?

This thing is a very powerful antioxidant that seems to be hearing protecting, which you should consider when using ototoxic drugs like blood pressure meds. It's possible it's tumor protective, can reduce the rate of coronary artery calcification progression in hemodialysis patientsβ¦

This stuff is very cheap on ebay, but I have no idea of how much to use.
Can someone explain this to me especially in relation with hcl in the stomach? thanks
I have been looking around for a while now on a method of how to do this though I am struggling to find a method for standardizing the stuff as it is needed for a dissolved oxygen test. any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Hello all. I am looking to add sodium thiosulfate to store brand shampoo for the purpose of dechlorinating hair after swimming.
Sodium thiosulfate is the main dechlorinating ingredient in Ultraswim as far as I can tell. I also have aquariums and routinely use the same chemical to make tap water safe for my fish.
Iβm looking for a good way to mix it into the bulk shampoos I buy. I have long hair (past low back) and use a good amount of product with each shower.
It comes in a medium size crystal form (2-3mm). Is there a good way to dissolve and mix this into regular shampoos and body wash with good distribution without watering it down or making a bubbly foamy mess?
Iβve been treating a plant with colloidal silver at 35ppm, but I have silver thiosulfate and Iβve heard itβs better. Can I switch over? And how do I properly use the silver thiosulfate? This is my first time breeding/reversing a fem plant. Will the rest of the plane be unusable? Thanks for any info yβall can give. ππΎ
I have sodium thiosulfate anhydrous crystals, and wanted to know if it would be enough or do I need other additions in the solution. Also what % is recommended?
I am doing a paper on Wijs method for finding the iodine value. It says that in the experiment, 0.1 N of sodium thiosulfate is equal to 0.1 M of it. (This is a standardized EU test for iodine value so it can not be false) However, in the internet it says that the molarity:normality ratio for sodium thiosulfate is 1:2. What exactly is going on here?
So I saw online a few weeks ago you could use Sodium Thiosulfate instead of Prime as a cheaper alternative one drop for every gallon. Well I have 1lb of the Sodium Thiosulfate crystals this would be my first time using them and I'm not super sure how much to use to dechlorinate my 1 cup water 1 cup bleach Purigen mix.
I'm hoping I'm not the only person to think of using Sodium Thiosulfate and maybe someone else can share their wisdom with me.
