Top Minds at r/Conservative celebrate CTH's quarantine...by saying that's not enough, calling a vote-based social media site biased in and of itself, and playing the victim yet again.

I was scrolling down r/all and saw r/Conservative celebrating CTH getting banned and wanted to see their take on it. It was exactly what I expected and slightly worse. I'd comment there instead of post here, but I was banned a while back for daring to say that they're still obsessed with winning the 2016 election in the first place.

Here are the full comments for anyone willing to find more gems

Top Comment: "It's something I guess but if rules were applied with anything resembling fairness in mind they'd be banned outright..." Top Reply: "Yeah I think it’s common knowledge now that Reddit is pretty left wing biased..."

"It's about time. TMOR next please." Replies include a colorful description of the sub and the OP calling for the quarantine of /r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISTS of all subs.

This is the part I didn't expect, where a mod no less tries to play the victim card with the flimsiest reason I've seen.

Sub mod stickies a comment, sarcastically saying "Top Basement Dwellers never brigade", with link to a link showing that a comment thread got posted on TMOR..a post which currently has zero points, and used a No Participation link

If that's a brigade, then I'm a one-man battalion.

what are some random scenes from movies, that irrespective of the quality of the movie itself~ remain very powerful for you, (more in comments)?

For example, for me, for no particular reason

  • MOVIE: Girl with a pearl earing, with scarlette johansson~ where she raises the concern of washing vermeer's window, as " won't it might change the light"? the wife and grandmother stare at her imperiously as they realize she has an artistic sensibility they hadn't even considered. an amazing moment in a decent movie.

  • TV: Mad men, The carousel scene, don draper explaining to kadak, "it's not a donut, it's a carousel, it takes around and around but shows us where we've been" (wildly paraphrased). An exemplary scene of a great series.

In that scene from The Matrix where Neo wake up at his computer, it's going through multiple webpages and scrolling through them slowly by itself searching through all articles because he's searching for articles relating to Morpheus. Is there any software out there that does a similar thing?

Basically the title.

I was thinking that it looked like a cool concept for a program; where you search for something and it automatically displays and cycles through results for you with minimal user input allowing for you to read through the pages at a decent pace without having to go back to the search results page when looking for something etc. Was wondering if something like that ever existed or if it was just another one of those weird movie interpretations of how the internet works.

A horror movie should hesitate to call itself that when the majority of scenes involve killings with no real rhyme or reason besides "shock" factor.

I thoroughly enjoy horror movies when they have atmosphere that makes you feel eerie even long after the scene has passed (The Silence of the Lambs, IT, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Film is art, so people may enjoy that of a lot of blood n' gore and I say go for it. I feel as though the term "horror" is being stretched a bit thin.

We celebrate the lead-up to New Year's Day, not the day itself.

At least in the US and other Western countries, the real celebration is on the night of December 31st. There are festivities leading up to midnight and right after the ball drops, but nothing really revolves around New Year's Day itself, other than maybe parades. Has anyone noticed that? I wonder if other cultures put so much emphasis on the day before new years.

Edit: I know that people who celebrate the Lunar New Year don't count down to New Year's Day. They just have festivities on the actual day.
