A list of puns related to "The House At Pooh Corner"
Pooh fans, I have a few questions, I'd gladly take any answer.
β’ Which one should I read? β’ Should I do both? β’ Can I read House at Pooh Corner without the first book?
Thanks!
Hi /r/BookCollecting, I have a friend who has a first edition of A House on Pooh Corner with its original dust jacket. It has some minor water damage on the hard cover and wear/discoloration of the dust jacket. My friend is not having much luck finding someone who can appraise the book. Are there any here knowledgeable in collectible book appraisal who I could put in contact with the book's owner?
I live in a single story, pier and beam house in South Louisiana, built around 1940. In the far northwest corner of the house (a bedroom) I hear a sound most nights that is not in the room, and it seems to be in the wall. I can't identify what it is, but it is a buzzing, and sounds vaguely like a drill or impact driver or maybe grunting (think large, happy pig). It's intermittent, but can go on for extended periods.
I don't think it's an animal because no amount of my banging on walls or the floor has any effect. Also, the cat is absolutely not interested in it.
It happens when were in bed and most, if not all, major appliances are not in use.
Any ideas what's going on? Am I going to have to open the wall to track this down? Should I just go ahead and schedule an exorcism?
Eta: I've contacted a bee keeper friend first and will do a more thorough check for insect activity after work. Paper wasps are a real possibility I'm my area which....ugh.
How would I check for a door bell transformer.
Edit 2: No sound tonight, but we've had a cold snap and it's about 20F colder than last night. Looking like insects. No visible insect activity when I looked after work, but it's been colder all day, so they may have been nesting.
I swear they sunk at least 40 grand in building that tiny little thing.
Background, weβve been together almost two years and our relationship is excellent. Weβve had some rocky points and some big fights in the past. But things have been really good for the past few months.
So, my girlfriend went out to celebrate her friend getting a promotion at work yesterday. Was supposed to be a drink or two then she was going to come home.
I was invited out but I was exhausted from work, and went home and showered and went to bed. She said she was just going for a quick drink then sheβd be heading home. To me I expect about an hour or hour and a half max.
I woke up about 2 hours later and she wasnβt home. I text her if she was okay and whatβs going on, she replied simply she was heading home right then.
I nodded back off for a while and woke up about an hour later, the drive home would have been like 25 minutes maybe.
I pulled up find friends and it showed her around the corner from our place. So I threw on my shoes and went around the corner.
I found her in the car drinking from a bottle of liquor talking to this dude, her Uber driver. She noticed me and opened the door, she was obviously plastered.
She said, hey whatβs up...
I just asked what was going on ? She didnβt say much so I turned and started walking away. She got out of the car and followed me, and the Uber driver left. We obviously had a fight after that, because of what that looked like. She showed me on her Uber app that that actually was her Uber driver. So I asked her what the fuck they were doing. She said she asked him on the way home to stop and get some liquor. So they did and then parked around the corner and talked.
She swears nothing happened and she was talking to him about some other stressful things going on in our lives etc, but I just canβt believe what I found. I feel like itβs a huge breach of trust if what she said was true, and who knows if thereβs more. I do believe that man had bad intentions with my gf and I feel like she wasnβt helping the situation at all , if not outright enticing it.
What should I do at this point? Just looking for advice of any sort, on one hand, I want to just cut things off. I feel like even if she had no bad intentions there, she sure as shit put herself into a situation where that kinda thing can happen. And the fact that they were parked around the corner from our place is super fucking suspect.

That guy. The one that literally has a rooftop patio.
Asking too much? In a really awkward spot?
