A list of puns related to "Stateless Address Autoconfiguration"
Hey guys,
So I'm hoping this is a fairly simple problem, but I'm a bit out of my depth. I am an algorithmic musician and use two laptops to communicate with eachother in musical ways using a software called Max/MSP. In the past to do this I have used UDP. I would go Cmd > ipconfig, then find the IPv4 address of the laptop I wanted to send to (using the same Wifi connection). This always worked fine and dandy, however I have reached a point in the project where stability is key, and the connections are constantly going down.
SO, I decided to switch to a local ethernet solution. My laptops do not have RJ45 ports so I had to buy a couple USB > RJ45 adapters. I then tried to set it up using a regular ethernet cable, which did not work. I then learned that I specifically needed a crossover cable. I bought one of those, set it up, and instantly saw some results - the local connection was made.
However, the two laptops do not appear to have the same Ethernet properties. When I open ipconfig on Laptop number 1, I was met with 'Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address: blablabla'. I took the IP address and tried to send data to this from Laptop number 2, and it worked!! Which is great, except I need it to work the other way round ... Laptop 1 needs to send info to Laptop 2.
Now, when I open ipconfig on Laptop 2, I am met with something different, it doesn't mention the Autoconfiguration IPv4, but instead just shows a regular IPv4 address, which is different to the other and when entered into the software, unsurprisingly does not work.
It appears to me that Laptop 1 is working in the way that it should, but perhaps I need to setup something on Laptop 2? I opened up Network Connections in an attempt to figure it out, and noticed an inconsistency ... Laptop 1 has 'Ethernet 2: Windows Adapter', and Ethernet 4: ASIX Adapter (the new adapter). However, laptop 2 has more options: Ethernet (1): Realtek PCle, Ethernet 2: TAP- Windows, and then Ethernet 3: ASIX AX88772 (my new adaptor). I have tried using my adapter on different ports, turning on and off other adaptors, to no avail.
I believe all I need is the Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address for Laptop 2 when connected to the ASIX Adaptor - yet this IP is only showing on Laptop 1.
Hope this makes sense, would really appreciate any help ... please go easy on me, I am a musician really and not a computer scientist, so this is all very confusing to me :)
Thanks!
Hello!
I am trying to install windowmaker live on my laptop.
I made the bootable from my main os Lubuntu with the iso and etcher.
I got to the installer menu but at the network part it says autoconfiguration failed and then tried to guide me to DHCP configuration.
Now I don't understand what I am supposed to write in the DHCP config, all I have Is a WiFi connection here, so I don't know what to do here.
I can't go forward from the install cause it seems that to install the bootloader I need Internet, continuing without it I don't get any boot menus not even a grub command line, just a never ending 'insert default media' message.
Any help here?
in my generation, once we were born, we followed our father's residence permit and can become Brunei stateless. Now, my children need to apply for 'stateless' or 'permanent resident' status due to change of law.
My eldest son is now 13 years old, still unable to apply for red IC. Why? because lack of nationality. unless he want to apply for green ic, otherwise need PMO to approve his 'stateless' nationality, then only can apply for red IC at immigration. I was informed that, based on our criteria, they definitely will grant 'stateless', it is only a matter of time.
When i went to immigration to apply for ic for my boy, i only aware the seriousness of this issue. from IC division --> re-entry permit division --> MOHA main building --> PMO.
how long more need to wait ah, PMO?
Hi Brunei Reddit,
I'm a Stateless Individual (in my 20s) currently considering immigrating in hopes to obtain Permanent Residency status preferably in any foreign country where I can progressively work towards eventual citizenship. I am specifically seeking advice and opinions from knowledgeable & experienced individuals who can shed some light on which country is immigration-friendly towards stateless individuals.
Note: I'm a professional working in the Finance sector (4 years + experience) and am currently finishing my ACCA qualification to be an ACCA member. I'd be relying heavily on my skillset to score any favorable chances as a candidate. Open to all suggestions as am currently on planning phase. Appreciate any form of advice and input. Thank you!
I am a stateless PR (born, raised and educated in Brunei) who have given up waiting for my Brunei citizenship result which I sat in 2012. I am hoping to get a PhD from UBD before I applied to migrate to Singapore. If anyone has any experiences migrating to Singapore could you share it please? I have given up hopes of waiting for my Brunei citizenship for decades. Thank you.
Ever since I discovered the potential of crypto currency, I've been obsessed with creating a project that could utilize and benefit the large population of refugees and other stateless people. I don't mean using crypto for charity, I mean using crypto for some kind of unconventional business model that people could tap into.
Crypto has so much more potential than money transfers, staking pools, NFTs, or what I see as shallower aspects of a deep idea. I think that these days all the parts are within the capabilities of crypto to radically change the lives of those who don't have access to an ID, stable money, etc. How can these parts be put together in a way that could make a project that could be of use to refugees?
I'm very curious what norms would apply in case if a stateless person murders another stateless person on a territory, that is not part of any country (like the middle of an ocean).
Would the stateless person go to prison? If yes, in which country?
Could someone explain this to me step-by-step?
Stateless as de jure
Recently, I found myself wanting to put up a website where I request input from arbitrary visitors of the page. I care enough to solicit the input from humans, but I definitely didn't want to filter through lots of responses from bots, so I built this basic proof of work algorithm in rust to prevent excessive spam.
Crate: https://crates.io/crates/blake3-proof-of-work
Docs: https://docs.rs/blake3-proof-of-work
Repo: https://github.com/samuelSchlesinger/proof-of-work
This is my first published rust crate, so I'd be really happy to receive any feedback. The available (though inactive) alternative to this crate seems to be https://docs.rs/pow, which I checked out and decided against for my personal use for a number of reasons.

I can see how the former fits in with communist propaganda, but it seems rather arbitrary to apply that kind of concept to many different political ideologies.
So the case is countries like Finland and Estonia for example, that are right next to Russia. I'm from Finland, and like most countries in the Eastern Europe, we have been under attack from Russia many times in history. The threat of invasion is there all the time - even though the probability is low at the moment.
But the only reason Russia chooses to honour our sovereignty at the moment is because Finland is an internationally recognised state with a vast network of allies through diplomacy, and we would have economic and military backing from them, should Russia ever launch an invasion.
That international support would not be there, if the state of Finland ceased to exist. If Russia was to ever see Finland as "no-man's land", their troops would be on Finnish soil by the evening.
The same thing applies to all the small countries in the world that are next to large countries with imperialist ambitions (and because every state has at least some level of imperialist ambitions, this really means every country).
Would achieving an anarchist stateless society, instead of, eg. libertarian socialist state, be a good idea at all, if it would mean that a war with an imperialist neighbour would be inevitable? Or worse, that an imperialist and authoritarian neighbour would just conquer the new stateless territory? That would definitely be a bye-bye to anarchism.
Rojava for example has a very good reason to be a state, because they really need the international recognition and support.
I don't think it would be much fun to have an anarchist system in place for a while, only for it to be swallowed by an imperialist, authoritarian state like Russia or Turkey (in my examples).
And just to clarify, I'm not here to debate, I just want everyone to understand what I understand about this topic. I'm here to learn.
How is food distributed in higher communism how we make sure that a person does not take much more than he needs ?
hi i've recently started my pilgrimage up the arch mountain. installing and configuring os as wiki guide suggests turned out to be an interesting journey. learning and reading much more than i've expected.
im stuck on dns step, i've read that i can just add entries to /etc/resolv.conf, but i also read that NetworkManager (which im using) can autoconfigure this stuff from dhcp.
what is the propper way to implement this dns autoconfiguration?
can i also configure stuff such so there are dns servers that i got from dhcp server, and there is also one static, that will be checked after "dynamic" ones?
p.s. is there a propper way to start systemd-networkd on system startup?
I found these statements in the README of bcrypt-ruby GitHub repo:
> The default cost factor used by bcrypt-ruby is 12, which is fine for session-based authentication. If you are using a stateless authentication architecture (e.g., HTTP Basic Auth), you will want to lower the cost factor to reduce your server load and keep your request times down. This will lower the security provided you, but there are few alternatives.
Why stateless auth should have a lower cost than session-based auth? Can anyone enlighten me on this?
Did marx really said that communism is stateless? If yes, where?
I am asking whether if there has been a stateless society of more than a million people because most non-state societies I have read such as tribes, bands and chiefdoms seem to have number in the thousands but has there any evidence of stateless society having a larger population much more than that?
Hi, I just started this show recently and Iβve checked up online to see if anyone was talking about a specific show I had in mind with a similarity to this one, but no one seemed to mention it in posts like these.
Firstly, the show Iβm talking about is Touch. It is by the same guy who created Heroes (which i also find similar to Sense8), and it follows a young autistic boy who helps events connect with each other around the world using a sequence of numbers that get revealed bit by bit each episode. Sorta like a butterfly effect, this show is. Sense8 and Touch share a similar title sequence: a compilation of people around the world just doing people things. and I think that is a great way to show that they have similar taste. Both have concepts of human connection, and show how human beings can lean on each other for help in their daily lives. Itβs pretty cool. Downside is that Touch S2 sucks, as they change the whole structure of the episodes, but the first season is very awesome.
The other shows that I find similar that are already mentioned in other posts are The OA and Heroes. Iβm not really going to get into those. The OA can be better explained by people who understand it more than I do, and Heroes is about a bunch of people of the world, mostly Americans, possessing strange powers and they are connected or something and need to stop some bomb in New York from exploding.
Another show I think is worth checking out is Grand Army. It is focused on five really different students who attend a Brooklyn school of the showβs name. The characters are all affected by a school lockdown cuz of a bomb threat, and the show dives into each characterβs lives afterwards. They also sometimes cross paths from time to time and have little dramas with each other, but itβs mostly independent issues. They ARE connected, though. This show is one season, eight episodes(?), so it is a really easy watch.
I also recommend Stateless. Itβs a limited series with 6 episodes, I think, too lazy to check (Iβm passionately writing this as quick as I can before I doze off). It is based on the real life Cornelia Rau situation, where some Australian chick is sent to an Immigration Detention Center for illegals trying to get into Australia, her very own country, yes very bizarre. The show isnβt completely focused on her though, it also shows the struggles of a Pakistan guy locked up there, a guard of the facility, the manager of the facility, and the guardβs wife. I think the show does
