First appointment with new pain doc, this was a while ago but I was just thinking about it and was curious about others experiences. My pain doc said when I said I have rls he said no I have nerve damage and he talked about how it’s weird I have nerve damage on my spine L5-S1 right side (emg by neurologist confirmed it) post spinal fusion. He said when those with nerve damage post spinal fusion don’t usually have nerve damage that will show up on that test.
This gave me hope maybe he can address that pain. Also it would make sense I read online and it seemed to make sense to me “if you’re under 30 and have rls symptoms it’s probably a nerve related thing”.
Also I think during winter I’ve noticed my feet get colder than they used to. Maybe the nerve damage is causing less blood circulation to my feet? Okay fuck this is actually scaring me now I didn’t expecr that but well that’s my life oh well.
I messed my back up as a teenager and am now in my thirties and now have navigated most of my life being accused of pretending to be disabled by weirdos everywhere while not being able to collect disability because of course the state government will not take anybody who doesn't have a lawyer seriously, so I spent my 20s trying to work and repeatedly hurting myself. People bring up my "horrible track record" with jobs. Its sick.
Anyway now my right hand randomly goes numb, something that I've only been enjoying in my left arm for the longest time. I also now have a part of my left thigh that sometimes burns sometimes feels cold and stinging.
I have 5 herniated disks in my lower back and 2 in my neck. I am unbelievaby sick of knowing I'll end up in a wheelchair while being treated like a fraud 24/7. I hate this. I am so tired of this.
I’m no chiropractor, but I know a lot of average cases are with people with some sort of back ache/pain or something to do with the shoulders, but I never real have heard anyone have symptoms I have if I don’t get some help besides a couple people.
As a bodybuilder, I’m probably just more always of my body and quality of life, but some days I just feel the worse and know it’s due to a vertebrae being misaligned, and when I go they are like yup, your atlas is very out, blah blah. Sacrum and t3, basically wherever I feel the symptom. Sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe and get anxiety that I’ve never experienced before after getting pain in my upper thoracic, and these are the worst sleepless nights. And these all go away after getting adjusted, and I can live my life, most symptoms I’ve noticed for myself anyways go away after cervical alignment.
One thing I’ve always wondered was this due to my genetics or result of an injury/adaptation? If I had the same injury as someone, since biomechanilly we’re the same, would I feel the same pain and symptoms, or is it just due to luck? I’m guessing it’s just compensation because that’s what your job is to literally adapt the spine back to what it’s supposed to be. Thinking back when people hurt their ribs or break a bone, they usually get some of the worst symptoms besides pains even though they are perfectly healthy like me

As some researchers have pointed out, the CDC’s comparison was an overstatement. Based on various studies and projections, on average a person infected with the delta strain of COVID-19 can infect 6 or 7 people, whereas someone infected with chickenpox can infect 9 or 10. Nonetheless, both diseases are highly contagious, although the viruses that cause them are very different.
Chickenpox is spread by inhalation, and children are infectious a few days before symptoms appear. The blisters also contain live viruses that can become airborne and inhaled or can be transmitted through direct contact.
Even after the chickenpox blisters are gone, the varicella-zoster virus is not. The viruses travel to nerve root clusters located along the spinal cord. There, the viruses establish a persistent, dormant state in the nuclei of the nerve cells.
Over the course of a person’s life, the viruses may reactivate, but usually the immune system eliminates the active viruses before they can appear as shingles. However, as the immune system weakens with age, or as a result of illness or stress, reactivated viruses can travel back along the nerves and erupt again as painful blisters. Typically, only one nerve-root cluster is involved, and the blisters appear in the area of the skin supplied by those nerves.
Unlike the COVID-19 and influenza viruses, which have genomes of single-stranded RNA, varicella-zoster’s genome is double-stranded DNA. This makes its genome more stable and able to be copied more accurately than single-stranded RNA genomes.
Although experts disagree on the exact rate at which varicella-zoster accumulates genetic changes, called mutations, a reasonable estimate of its evolution rate is one new mutation every 200 to 400 years. This rate is in contrast to influenza, for example, whose RNA genome is copied so sloppily that it accumulates about 40 new mutations every year, according to my calculations based on data published here.
The closest existing relative to varicella-zoster infects an old-world monkey. The evolutionary lines that led to humans and old-world monkeys split 23 million years ago; thus, our cohabitation with varicella-zoster goes back at least that far.

I’ve been using an Acti-Patch/Pain Loop lately, the same science behind the permanent stimulator. I put it right over my clavicle, and it really works…! it takes away the bad tingling within the bone, and the pins and needles around the incision site. The CRPS is worse in my hand, and it seems to help with that as well.
My pain doc suggested it as a 3rd option after Stellate ganglion blocks, and ketamine infusions. I’ve tried both. The ketamine works, but it’s very expensive.
What’s the ‘installation’ like?
Have you had any negative side effects or limitations?
I’m considering it, and will of course talk to my doc, but I wanted some real-world accounts from people who have one.

Just feeling a bit sad. It's a beautiful day and I'm lying down. I would like to be in the garden but when my back pain is bad I get intercostal pain that makes it feel like I'm being stabbed when I breathe. It doesn't help that I'm carrying too much weight.
The meds that work aren't good for my mental health. Kinda a rock and a hard place really.
I just want to have a pain free day again.
For the past few years i have had some bad nervepain down my right leg, and have basically just assumed that I have endo around my sciatic nerve. My doctors haven't been really worried about it, and I had resigned to waiting for another laparoscopic surgery to treat it. However, today at my physical therapist, we did some new "tests" and exercises, and he concluded with that my nerve pain seemed a lot like a disc prolapse, which I will mention at my doctors appointment next week.
In the meanwhile, have any of you guys had any experience with either of these issues? Any luck in treatment of either? I have just attributed all my issues to endo, as endo really is a "everything hurts - fuck you"-disease, but now I'm thinking that a good chunk of pain could maybe be taken away from the endo-pile...
I've treated this seriously ever since I started having pain while sitting down in late 2020. I've been given the runaround, dismissed with prednisone, and have had great difficulty getting approval for surgery all throughout 2021. And now, I no longer get any urges to go the bathroom. At all. And somehow, this is not enough to alarm any health care providers I've seen.
Sometimes when I adjust, I can feel the presence of urine in my body. If I go through the motions and force movement below my waist, I can manage to remove SOME urine, but not much. Bowel movements are worse. It has become normal to go up to three days without a BM. I have no idea how much waste is just trapped in my body, or how it may be affecting me. I have not had any involuntary releases. I've come close, but I haven't had full loss of control just yet. There's just something seriously wrong with the removal process.
(also, I can sit down without feeling any immediate or direct pain, but I think this is mostly because I'm slightly losing feeling down there. It's as if I can still tell that something is wrong, though.)
Right now, going to the hospital isn't really an option because in my state, COVID cases have completely swamped nearly every hospital. I actually went to the hospital twice in early July and then again in late July. The second time, I specifically asked to be transfered elsewhere so I could get an emergent MRI done, but this was right when cases were beginning to rise and I was told that a transfer wouldn't be possible due to hospital beds being full.
I just don't know what to do. I've done all I can to try and prevent permanent damage, but I can't help but feel as if it has already occurred.
[21][F]Spinal and back pain, near shoulder blades. After “heart attack”?
[21][F] [5’9”][172lb][white] Existing medical issues: Anxiety prescribed medication: Lexapro 10mg No other recreational drugs or medication. My main issue: is the tingling numbness in the shoulder blade area, up to neck near shoulders. Very painful pinch like sensation. Very snappy? I believe i have a pinched nerve in my spine. The pain comes and goes and it spreads. It’s gotten progressively worse as it is also numb now, in both shoulder areas. I also think I had a heart attack a few nights ago. I have all the symptoms but it’s kinda crazy cause I’m 21. Does anyone know what could be happening? I’m also getting very light headed and almost floaty at times. Also after the “heart attack” my left arm near my shoulder is numb and hurts to touch. My body also feels tight and I cannot hold my arms above my head for long, I get exhausted quickly in almost 4 seconds…What’s going on? Thanks…
