A list of puns related to "Speedcubing"
I picked up the hobby maybe 2 (?) years ago and its been just a side-thing if ever I'm bored. For anyone wondering, I can consistently get an average of 50 to 60 seconds and my personal record is 35 seconds
Hi everyone. I got into speedcubing about 4 or 5 years ago and I neglected the hobby for many years. Recently, I have gotten back into the cubing world and am trying to improve my times and whatnot.
Back in the day, I used to use Prisma Puzzle Timer and when I rediscovered my love of cubing recently, I realized that the developers had stopped working on it.
Naturally, being a Computer Science student, I thought I would take a shot at creating a new offline speedcubing timer. I am aware that there are lots of great timers available online, but I thought it might be useful every once in a while to have an offline timer. Living in a third-world country, we often don't have internet and I would love to have a simple, cross-platform timer in those cases to practice solving on.
The project is called RKimer, which is a melee word derived from Rubik, Kotlin and Timer. (A bit on the nose, I know). If you have a better name, please let me know!
I have decided to write it in Kotlin, since it speeds up development by pretty much a metric tonne.
If anyone has any suggestions, or would like to contribute to developing the timer, please head over to the project GitHub page.
I am open to suggestions and criticism, however, if you download the software and find a bug or have a problem or feature request, please file a GitHub issue on the project page.
RKimer is available for download on the GitHub page as well, although if it gets enough attention, I might set up a website for the program and host download links and documentation there.
Please note: The project is still in the early days of development. I've decided to release it to the public anyway, in the hopes of getting useful advice and suggestions early on in the development.
TL;DR
I made a new speedcubing timer, check it out on GitHub and let me know what you think.
EDIT:
I forgot to mention, right now, the scramble algorithm only generates scrambles for the 3x3 Rubik's Cube, but in future, I hope to support all WCA puzzles.

I have a ton of specialized Rubik's cubes designed for speed solving from a few years back when this was my hobby - got everything from 2x2-7x7 cubes and sole other minxes as well. If you're interested DM me and i can send a pic of the whole collection
Ok I made my compulsory post time to go

(Speedcubing is solving a rubik's cube fast)
I enjoy both but I find it really difficult to focus on both. Right now I feel speedcubing but you could easily say that a month ago I was all chess. Idk what to do.
Left Brain For Rubiks
The left brain is known to be called as βdigital brainβ as it carries out all the math workload, logical, linear thinking and verbal functions.
Thus, learning to solve different types of Rubikβs cubes with a simple formula sharpens your brain.

Is there any place or resource I can look into if I want to learn how to speed cube?
Hi everyone!
I'm a long time casual speedcuber (averaging a bit over 20 seconds), and have always really enjoyed the hobby. I also loved seeing this really awesome community expand from afar, with the amazing Youtube channels that have come up over the last years and cool videos sharing the awesome atmosphere at competitions. Now there's even a Netflix documentary!
I had an idea for a new approach to an algorithm trainer a few years ago though, and being a software engineer by trade I tinkered a bit with a low quality prototype for my own use in my spare-time. I have recently been blessed with the chance to work full time on whatever projects I'd like for some time though, and decided to give this idea a shot, and I just finished a high quality minimum version of what I'd envisioned! It's available at https://www.sc-trainer.com, and is designed to work well on all devices, computers/tablets/smartphones.
A little preview:
The view of the trainer in action
Before I explain a bit more about the idea behind it, I just wanted to ask you if you would take the time to try it out and provide me with some feedback? I have both included "Give feedback" buttons in between algorithm tests which link to a Google Form, but I'm also happy to receive any feedback or discussions about the potential of the app here in replies. I'd also love to hear if I've missed similar tools that already exist that do what I want to create, as I don't know of any right now!
So my overall goals with this web app is to make algorithm practice have more flow, be more efficient, maybe also a bit more gamified/fun, and also give you more insights into your strengths and weaknesses, through better data than current tools allow. As of this early version it is mostly (hopefully) satisfying the flow part, and is basically a full revision tool for PLL with 2-sided recognition, as it only has the single mode of reviewing all algorithms from all angles.
My main innovation (at least as far as I know it's an innovation), is to attempt to remove the scrambling phase from algorithm trainers which is the only method I currently know of. Instead of scrambling before every new algorithm to make your cube show the case, you instead start with a solved cube, see the case
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi all, some of you may have heard of CubeDesk, the first speedcubing app made for desktop. Well, CubeDesk is now available on the web! This means that:
If you're interested in checking it out, go to https://cubedesk.io and click the Free Sign Up button! Right now, you need an invite code to create an account, but if you head over to the Discord channel (link on the website) and ask someone in the #invite-codes channel, you'll get one pretty easily. I have the invite system in place so that the servers don't get overwhelmed in the first couple of weeks.
Hope you guys like it! Some screenshots:
