| The Eagles continued to rely on the run last week against the Chargers, but unfortunately they didnβt get the same result facing a more talented team in the Chargers. While throwing less than 20 times may field a win against the worst team, those are harder to come by against stiffer competition.The Eagles offense will see that this week as they take on a Denver Broncos team that just blew out the division rival Cowboys. The Eagles may also be forced to run this week against the Broncos who rank 6th against the run as opposed to the last 3 weeks where the Raiders, Lions and Chargers were in the bottom 5. Hurts will most likely need to take a bigger role in the offense this week if the Eagles hope to squeak out a win, I think that Sirianni is still going to need to stick with the run to be able to help Hurts with play action and easier throws. On the other side of the ball the Eagles will hope to not allow the already accurate Bridgewater to complete 80% of his passes, something the Eagles have already allowed to occur 5 times this season. The Broncos have a talented receiving corps and Bridgewater has the arm and accuracy to find them, especially if the Eagles allow the underneath stuff like they have all season. Gannon will need to find a way to get pressure on Bridgewater if the Eagles hope to win, but I donβt know the answer to how he does this. He blitzed at a clip of roughly 30% last week, but was not able to get to Herbert or disrupt the throw. This task could be made more difficult if the Eagles are without corners Avonte Maddox and Darius Slay who left last weekβs game and were limited at practice on Thursday. The Eagles have the 2nd easiest remaining schedule, but a loss on Sunday would all but dash their playoff hopes in 2021.Go Birds! |

For example. If you look at the Vikings during the 90s, it was like every year was a new QB. Rich Gannon, Sean Salisbury, Warren Moon, Brad Johnson, Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, and Daunte Culpeper was the Franchise QB going into the 2000s.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

| Jalen Hurts seems to be putting it together and played his best half of football this season in the first half against the Broncos. He looked more comfortable in the pocket and climbed the pocket and went through read progressions, something we have not seen from him before. The Eagles dominated both sides of the ball against the Broncos and cruised to an easy win. Their opponent this week, the Saints, had much different circumstances in week 10 losing a tough one to the Titans 23-21. The Saints should be a tough challenge for the Eagles and their new found rushing identity they want to maintain. The Saints defense ranks 1st against the run this season giving up only 72.9 yards per game and a measly 3.1 yards per carry. However the Saints are vulnerable through the air giving up 264.9 yards per game to opposing QBs which is good for 26th. If the Eagles want to win this game they will need to lean on Jalen Hurts and the passing game to move the football. I donβt think they will be able to pound the rock like they have the last few weeks. If they can put up some points I think they will have a good chance of winning the game against a Saints offense which has the 31st ranked passing offense and struggles when they are behind in games. | Another week and another poor performance by the Eagles who have a lackluster offense and a porous predictable defense. Derek Carr had his way with the Eagles defense completing over 90% of his passes against Jonathan Gannonβs defense. Gannon wants to prevent the big plays, but in the process is laying out the welcome mat for opposing offenses to march down the field. On offense it hasnβt been much better for the Eagles this season, Jalen Hurts continues to struggle going through his reads and is limiting the offense and what Nick Sirianni can run. This isnβt to shift blame from Sirianni who seems to abandon the run on a weekly basis, though on Sunday that was partially due to an early injury to lead back Miles Sanders. This week they will travel to Detroit to take on a struggling Lions team who has yet to notch a W this season. While this sounds like an easy win for the Eagles and allow them to get back on track, I wouldnβt be so sure. The Lions were competitive with a good Rams team in week 7, albeit they pulled out all the stops with two fake punts and a successful onside kick. However DeAndre Swift managed 144 AP yards vs the Rams and defending opposing running backs is an area the Eagles have struggled with mightily this season. Swift could be posed for a big day both in the passing game and on the ground against the weak LB and safety corps of the Eagles. Add in the Eagles bend and then bend further defense plays right into the strength of the Lions offense this season which has been using dink and dunk passes with Jared Goff. The Lions lack big play receivers, but Goff has been accurate this season completing 66% of his passes working underneath. If anything the Eagles offense and Jalen Hurts should be able to get something going against the Lions pass defense which has not been good this season, but neither has Hurts outside of garbage time, so we will see what happens, as always. | The Eagles finally put it all together, it was against the worst team in the league who doesnβt have a win yet this year, but it was a nice W nevertheless. Sirianni finally got over his fear of running the football. The Eagles offense was humming as they ran the ball 46 times and largely took the ball out of Jalen Hurts passing the ball as he had only 14 passing attempts in the 44-6 win. On defense the Eagles limited the Lions offense who were not able to get anything going last week. The Eagles will face a much tougher task this week when Justin Herbert and the Chargers come to town. Herbert is a talented young QB with two very good WRs and a talented RB at his disposal the line is much upgraded from last season. The Eagles will need to hold Herbert in check so that they can rely on the run game much like they did this past week against the Lions. If the Eagles let Herbert pick them apart like Carr did in week 7, it could be a long day for the Eagles. The Eagles need to use the run to keep Herbert on the sidelines and control the clock, if they can do that they may be to put together their first back to back wins this season.Go Birds! |

| The Eagles struggled for the 3rd straight week against the high scoring Kansas City offense in Week 4. The Eagles will try to stop the skid this week as they travel down to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have surprised people this year jumping out to a 3-1 record as QB Sam Darnold has found new life one a new team. Darnold currently leads the NFL in rushing TDs for a QB with 5 which is as many as Lamar Jackson(5) and Kylar Murray combined(2). The Eagles will need to be aware of his running threat, however he has also looked competent as a passer now that he doesnβt have Adam Gase calling the plays. On defense the Carolina defense is stout currently ranking 3rd in total yards and 3rd in points. They have talent at all three levels of the defense and fly to the football. Hurts is going to have to be willing to hang in the pocket and go through his reads and check down if the first read isnβt there. He is also going to need to be accurate with his passes in the secondary, he wonβt get away with some of the errant passes like last week against the Chiefs secondary. He also needs to be prepared to face more pressure this week as well. The Eagles would be smart to get Hurts in a rhythm with some screens and short passes and run the football to keep the Carolina pass rushers honest. If Siranni abandons the run and Hurts struggles to go through his reads expect it to be another long day and another notch in the L column for the Birds. If the Eagles can play up to their potential and eliminate mistakes, they can pull out a double, but that is something they have yet to do this season outside of week 1. Go Birds! |

| The Eagles surprised a lot of people opening weekend when they made quick work of a rebuilding Falcons team. Jalen Hurts exceeded expectations throwing for 261 yards and 3 TDs including one to Eagles first round pick Devonta Smith. Smith was as advertised hauling in 6 passes and the score.On the other side, the defense struggled early allowing the Falcons to move the ball, but settled down and held the Falcons to just 6 points. The Birds will have a tougher task in their home opener as they welcome the San Francisco 49ers to town. Unlike the Falcons the 49ers have an established coach in Kyle Shannahan and a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Last week the 49ers defeated the Lions, but they definitely gave their fans some clenched buttholes in the 4th quarter as they let the Lions back in the game. If the Eagles want to move to 2-0, Hurts will need to build off of what he did to the Falcons and keep cool in a pocket that will likely see more pressure from a pass rush led by Nick Bosa. The 49ers may employ a spy to limit the damage Hurts can do with his legs. If they do, Hurts proved last week he can hurt you with his arm when the line gives him time, something that is no easy task against the 49ers. If Hurts does get time the 49ers showed they were vulnerable in that area against Detroit where Jared Goff threw for 338 yards and 3 TDs. On the other side of the ball, the 49ers were explosive against Detroit. Deebo Samuel and Jimmy G hooked up for 189 yards in the win.The 49ers have a bunch of weapons on offense, two key ones Samuel and Kittle could create matchup problems for the Eagles. They will need to replicate their performance from last week where they held Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts. This will be a good measuring stick for the Eagles to determine if they are a contender this year or if last week was a fluke. Should be a good game regardless. Go Birds! |

| The Eagles were brought back down to Earth last week as they lost a tough one to the San Francisco 49ers and in the process lost key players on both lines. Brandan Graham tore his achilles and will miss the remainder of the season and Brandon Brooks strained his pectoral muscle and will miss 8 weeks of action. The two lines are where the Eagles are most deep, but their backups will have big shoes to fill on Monday Night Football when the Eagles travel down to Arlington to square-off against the division rival Cowboys. The Cowboys are dealing with injury issues of their own as they will be missing All-Pro Demarcus Lawrence who was injured in week 1, along with WR Michael Gallup. Eagles young QB Jalen Hurts will look to improve from his first outing against the Cowboys in 2020 when he struggled to get anything going and turned the ball over multiple times in the lopsided loss. The Dallas defense has struggled to defend against the pass this season giving up 346 yards per game which is good for second worst in the league. The Eagles will need to get this going in the air to put up points to keep pace with the quick scoring Cowboys offense which looks back on track with the return of Dak Prescott. Prescott and the Cowboys talented WRs will test the Eagles secondary which is currently ranked 3rd against the pass, but has not faced a WR combo as dangerous as Lamb and Cooper. Look for Gannon to mix up coverages and try to get pressure on Prescott will turn the ball over when under pressure and trying to make a play. I expect this game to be a shoot out with two talented offenses. Go Birds! |
