TIL the 1967 French Grand Prix was so poorly received and seen as boring, mainly because it was held in the then-new Bugatti Circuit. Some drivers preffered the race was run on the 13,6 km long Circuit de la Sarthe.

(FM7) Iβm halfway done with a free play 24 hour endurance race at Le Mans circuit de la sarthe (night)
So last week on Friday night I bought the Audi R18 E-tron Quattro with stock parts and decided βhey you know whatβs a great idea, a 24 hour endurance race with absolutely no assistsβ while the difficulty is only on highly skilled I have had my troubles. What Iβve done over the course of this week is chop away at it in 2-3 hour sessions and itβs not the the computers are hard to pass itβs that as the stint goes on I really begin to lose focus. I donβt know about anyone else but I believe Le Mans is very punishing in this aspect as there are high speed straights and sharp corners following those straights. This leads to late breaking where there are either barriers or no wide racing lines to take. Both chicanes on the mulsanne straight and mulsanne corner are great examples. Now Iβm just over 12 hours in and just wanted to ask has anyone else here done something similar and if so what was it like for you?

A strange Circuit de la Sarthe question
I have been wondering for years how people who live in and around Circuit de la Sarthe deal with Le Mans when it's on. I've heard commentators say before there are people whose driveways open on to the Mulsanne straight. What happens when the armco goes up and the cars start running? Do they just have to camp out at home for a few days? I'd be really curious to know what the race weekend is like for people living nearby. Hopefully some experienced folks here can help answer this for me!
