A list of puns related to "Samantha Barks"
I have had quite a fancy for a co worker who's simply gorgeous and I've worked hard on building a connection with her, like getting to know her interests. One of them happened to be singing which I'm not too caring off but my sister has been on and off watching a UK tv show from 2008 called I'd Do Anything and one of the contestants that has really impressed me is Samantha Barks. Her performance in the semi final was so gorgeous and I decided to take a chance is message it to my crush and she absolutely loved it. We talked a bit more and we agreed to meet up after work on Friday. Really has brightened my entire month.
Thank you so much Samantha!

Very minor post, non consequential, non serious issue post just something I've been thinking about and want to write up on as part of my sociology couse.
I'd Do Anything was a UK singing competition tv show about 12 women competing for a West End role of Nancy in Oliver Twist. One of the contestants, also the youngest, was 17 year old Samantha Barks who came third in the Final. I think based on her behavior in the quarter and semi finals towards Rachel Tucker as well as comments from the panel, cost her the win in the Final.
Throughout the series, she conducted herself, personality wise, really well. Being the youngest in the competition, she was a real dark horse and performed consistently well from weeks 1-8, the audience could really relate to her in a lot of ways and root for her. However she made a lot of mistakes in the tail end of the quarter final and in the semi final which cost her the win in the end.
First mistake was her lack of an enthusiastic reaction to getting through to the Semi Final.

Her lax reaction basically says unintentionally, that she doesn't really care or that's she's overconfident or unappreciative. Compare it to Jodie and Jessie who show total excitement and joy at getting through to the semi finals. Psychology wise, while stoicism is a trait I really liked from her in the competition, joy/excitement is more appealing to the average viewer.
Second mistake she makes is shortly after the sing off where she doesn't hug contestant Rachel Tucker while Jodie and Jessie do. She instead turns away.

This shows coldness to the audience, her and Rachel both were pretty hostile to each other throughout the competition.

But her not congratulating her on making it through conveys bitchiness to the audience and bitterness over Niamh not making it through, which rubs the audience the wrong way.
Those were her mistakes in the quarter final.
In the semi final, she was tasked by the judges to be able to move them emotionally. The judges feedback indicates that she failed to do this however they give her a pass and still praise her.

This to the audience conveys basically the idea that Samantha is being given an easier time based on her age rather than merit, the judges stated that she failed to move them (which was her task for that week) but still praise h

I've seen that costume change go wrong in so many youtube compilations, I feel so bad for her.
She got up after a moment of surprise (and untangling herself from the dress!) and finished the song to massive applause! Definitely the most shocking live theatre moment I've ever seen!
I didn't like Samantha Barks in the Les Mis movie. And I want to explain why because I have a lot to say about her performance. But before that, I'd like to make a note that Samantha Barks is an incredible performer. I am in no way trying to say anything to degrade her or her talent, however, I did not enjoy her permanence as Eponine.
On a vocal level, she was spectacular. I truly have nothing to complain about in that sense. But her acting, in my opinion, was very average. "On My Own" felt extremely one dimensional and simply 'okay'. I felt that she knew the character Eponine was experiencing pain from being heart broken and that is really the only emotion I sensed. The entire song, even during the key change ("and I know, it's only in my mind) there was no switch or new realization. This is partially my own interpretation, but I see Eponine as someone who is tough, strong-willed, and not the type to wallow in her own sorrows. This key change area would've been a great opportunity to convey some of those feelings of needing to keep herself together even though she was suffering. I did not feel an alter in emotions.
Backtracking to what I also said about how her performance felt one dimensional, throughout most of the movie it felt as if she was simply playing the victim. However, I strongly believe she should've had more internal struggle and should've added more emotions such as frustration (the Marius doesn't want her), emptiness (because of how alone she talks about feeling), love (for Marius), etc. In terms of love, I felt she was in love with him but only in the sense of heart break. It didn't feel, to me, that she was completely over whelmed by her affections towards him. It felt more that she was simply sad that he had no interest in her romantically.
"On My Own" is a song that has many different feelings in it. From the lyrics to the storyline, it's undeniable to say there aren't several contrasting feelings Eponine holds. I believe that a good actor (in general but specifically for a single scene or song in this case) can convey many emotions and characteristics at once. In life, situations that greatly affect people don't simply leave them with one emotion. Thoughts and feelings change, and there are always different ones in single events. For example, using Les Mis for reference, Anne Hathaway during "I Dreamed a Dream" did a spectacular job. She had the ability to show a multiplexed character. The song was an absolute rollercoaster of emoti
