A list of puns related to "Rtd"
She doesnβt seem like a strong powerful force anymore. There is literally no depth to the character. Sheβs like an immature, annoying, over enthusiastic primary school teacher. Compare any of the incarnations before her and the difference is crazy. Ruth was a little better but still felt like something was missing. Sure 11 was a little childish too but the balance was perfect, there was actual depth to the character. Also the companions we have in this era, are the equivalent to poor supporting characters in the previous eras.
EDIT: Although I do prefer the doctor to be a man (thereβs nothing wrong with that btw) my complaints arenβt anything to do with her gender. I think Ruth would be better. Even characters like River Song or Missy would suit being the Doctor better than Jodie.
Just curious, I see people that dislike Chibnall, people that dislike Jodie and people that dislike both at the same time. In my opinion, Jodie had the potential to be great but was hurt by Chibnall and even so, she did well considering what she had been given.
So a recent interview with RTD contains the following paragraph
> He canβt contain his excitement. βIβve already written some of the episodes. The first will go out in November 2023 β thatβs the 60th anniversary of the show.β Give us a scoop then, I beg. He says he canβt. Is Olly Alexander the new Doctor? βBehave! Stop it! We have genuinely not cast anyone yet. Weβre just starting auditions.β
I only bring this up because Iβve seen a few people arguing that the original announcement was vague and that they might not actually release anything in 2023.
I mean, only one of those is a federal law, but they just harangued several of us on my train for not having our tickets out quickly enough while just ignoring people who are completely unmasked. I really hate RTD security.
Would you be annoyed if he did that, or would you like it. Would you like if old companions become full time companions.
This dude was raging for 15+ minutes in front of Whole Foods in the Wewatta pavilion, threatening to "beat the shit" out of people walking by. He then confronted a woman pushing a stroller and screamed profanities at her while swinging his arms. Then, he goes into this little routine.
I spoke to three RTD officers and they all said it's not their issue. They all said he's not an "active threat" and that local elections prevent them from dealing with people on their own property. Beyond that, I had to walk through the tunnel, by a woman openly lighting something in a converted hypodermic needle (on the stairs), to find the only officers were in front of the A-line. There was no security at Chestnut pavilion, nor the tunnel.
If local politics is preventing them from securing their own property, maybe they should announce that people should stop riding RTD. I take the E-line at least 3-4 days a week for work and maybe get security on a stop for 1 time per month. I'm so tired of RTD tweeting about the 1-year anniversary of the N-line, but totally ignoring the blatant security issues they have. I love RTD and the services they provide, but this is utter bs.
Okay, blood pressure is now lower, thanks for letting me rage a bit.
πΆ It's the most wonderful time of the year πΆ - And while we recover from way too much turkey (and some of us... well, other stuff), what's a better time to celebrate RTD's
Yet again, RTD proved that nothing can stop us in our tracks (heh, get it?). And whilst the world around us continued to break down into yet more chaos, you all came up with easily some of the best designs the subreddit has ever seen. This is partly due to the massive numbers of new members over the past year, and also the already-strong core group of designers, who continued to push the boundaries of what's real and what's fiction, with presentation and lore like we've never seen before. Oh, and if you thought we were beyond the days of RTD designs being found in the most bizarre of places... well you'd be wrong (looking at you, Alpine F1 Team).
Yes, 2021 was another difficult year, but RTD was the home for over 19,000 Tilkes-in-the-making, and certainly, all of us in the mod team (despite me only being here for a month) are extremely proud of how the community has evolved over the last 12 months. Not only does the house live, but we have a village now too. Now that I've got aside all the memes I could persuade Calamari to let me fit in, it's time to see what you're going to be voting for as we celebrate the very best that RTD had to offer this year!
This year, the usual suspects feature, but we've also brought back some old favourites, and thrown in a couple of new categories as well, to ensure the best possible representation of the creations the community has seen this year.

Hey, Calamari here with the dry, boring part!
This is only the nomination phase. Upvotes will not influence the winner.
>Like many businesses, including Eldora, RTD is facing a serious staffing shortage that affects its ability to provide some services. Recently, due to a lack of operators, RTD was forced to cancel return trips from Eldora, so many who rode to Eldora in the morning had to find their own ways home. This could happen again, so make sure you're prepared by having backup transportation home in case RTD can't provide it.
She was brilliant and I would love to see her be really evil
So now we all should know that Chibnall and Jodie are both leaving the show next year, and RTD will be reclaiming the mantle as showrunner. The main thing Iβm wondering about a lot is what RTD might do with the recent controversial Timeless Child reveal that Chibnall wrote into Series 12.
Obviously thereβs several different routes that RTD could take the Timeless Child, but Iβve narrowed them down to three broad possibilities. Firstly, he could completely retcon the reveal, for example by saying that it was all a lie by Rassilon or the Master. The second possibility is that he carries on with the new lore, possibly putting his own spin on it or just following exactly what Chibnall has laid down. And finally the third option is he ignores the reveal, acts like it never happened and hopes that it will become widely ignored similar to the line in the TV movie about the Eighth Doctor being half human.
Iβm not the biggest fan of the Timeless child idea, so I must admit that at least part of me wants it to be retconned, and I do believe if anyone can come up with a good idea that can retcon it, itβs RTD. However I also wouldnβt mind if RTD just carried on like it never happened and went back to treating the Doctor like a standard Time Lord.
Let me know which route youβd like RTD to take, and more importantly, which you believe he will take. I look forward to reading all opinions but please do be civil about it in the comments
Seriously, best villain of the Sarah Jane adventures, and possibly one of the better ones in Nu Who. It's such a shame he was ultimately nothing more than a minor character in a spin-off show.
To keep things from being repetitive:
Please don't spam with "undo the timeless child"; I'm talking about your original ideas, not reactions to other ideas.
I had an idea from like so long ago that somewhat (but not really) came into fruition:
It was a River Song-esque character basically, but as a villain instead. The character would be a figure from the Doctor's future with a vendetta and a hatred for the Doctor, for some undescribed horrible thing that (the character claims) the Doctor did to her. The implication would be that this character is actually a future companion, and that this whole thing was a companionship gone horribly horribly wrong. Unlike River Song though, I probably wouldn't have ever revealed the true story behind it, and kept it forever in the distant future, a-la the Curator Doctor.
Another less cool idea was for another renegade Time Lord called the Thief- technically a villain but not in a malicious, murderer-y way. Basically a mischief maker gentlemanly art thief of leisure type character (like Ocean's 11 or something) and the Doctor and the Thief enjoy doing their intellectual sparring. The conflict between them would be ultimately playful rather than serious.
Your ideas?
Jo Martin is so amazing and she can be brought out of her timeline anytime they please because she will forget it (because she is a past incarnation). It would be really cool to see what drove The Timelords to trying to catch the Doctor and the plot could lead to her having her memory wiped. Would it draw to much attention away from the current Doctor of the time? I'm imagining a Captian Jack π¬ kind of scenario with her having adventures aiding her future self.
Iβd love to see the Slitheen return, or the Sycorax. Maybe even the Reapers
Is it sade to enter this website? And will i find the latest web novel chapters? How do i make sure that site is legit and doesnβt contain viruses? Why is it .moe isnβt that suspicious?
The three aspects of RTD's return to writing DW i'm most excited for are
Anything I missed out or you disagree with?
Well it finally happened to me. Moved from downtown a few months ago and thought it was cool in the distant burbs. Itβs my mistake, parked there overnight for a flight. Wish Iβd invested in the protective plate and ride shared. Watch your stuff! And screw these people, may karma find your ass.
The current guy just doesnt have any... gravitas in his work. I really noticed it last night when there was all this "previously on..." drama building up and then the theme tune is just quietly squeaks out. It just doesnt match, get rid of it! The music used to be another character on the show.
Personally I would say Donna or Jackie every scene of them is pure gold
When it comes to a change in showrunners, one of the things I've always found interesting is how they handle creations by their predecessors, and which ways they can show them in a new light. For instance, you've got the John Simm incarnation of the Master, which was introduced and used a fair amount in RTD's run, but then got brought back in an interesting way in World Enough and Time and the Doctor Falls. Or the Weeping Angels, who were created by Moffat and used quite a bit during his episodes, but recently had an interesting reappearance in the Village of the Angels as agents of The Division.
Or heck, just about every classic series species and villain, since it's almost a rite of passage for each showrunner to have at least one Dalek, Cyberman, Master, etc story during their run.
This makes me wonder... what Chibnall era villains and species would you want to see this applied to? Which interesting additions to the Whoniverse do you want to see brought back in RTD's run, or those of the various showrunners beyond him?
Personally I'm not sure. I guess it'd be interesting to see the Stenza done well, given that Chibnall set up a whole empire of them in series 11, then basically kept the finale to the one guy we've known about since the season premiere. I also kinda want to see another story with those light creatures from Spyfall (the Kassavin), since their powers seem interesting and ripe for possible stories, and at worst they've been banished right now.
And well, if Flux doesn't expand on them much, I guess some sort of prequel esque episode for Swarm/Azure would be nice to see, since they're always made out as a big threat that the Doctor considered an arch enemy, but the show never backed it up much.
But what do you think? What species, characters, etc from the current era do you want to see get used again afterwards by different writers and showrunners?
World Building: Remarkably weak across all three eras if you ask me, although I would go slightly easier on the RTD era for this. On the one hand, I understand why a long running show shouldn't commit to permanent fixtures on the universe, but OTOH the greater world outside the Doctor changes from episode to episode solely to suit the needs of the episode. I think the show would benefit from exploring the shadow proclamation, establishing key galaxies/'areas', establishing a very rough timeline for the human race, or establishing other species that aren't just villains or slaves or whatever that actually stick around- like the Ood, and more. Just have some sense that there is a world outside the Doctor which I just don't feel.
There's also episode-to-episode worldbuilding as well- in Classic Who each story would immerse you on a planet and would try (to varying degrees of success but at least it would try) to paint a picture of this new world, their society and their culture. Again, in comparison, in NewWho the planets they land on are merely the setting for the central problem of the episode rather than something interesting in and of itself. Rings of Akhaten is one of the very few episodes interested in fleshing out a world rather than just a problem.
Characters/Villains: I think the show needs more and new villains and more importantly, more individual villains rather than just 'species villains'. The Master is the only real 'individual' villain, and the rest is just endless hordes of faceless Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, etc which is significantly less compelling. I actually think the villains are a major weakpoint of the franchise, and (probably unpopular but) I am not impressed with any of the Daleks, Cybermen or the Master. The Master I should like in theory but other than Delgado and Gomez, I don't really find any of them compelling.
Arcs: Another controversial opinion, but not a fan of any the showrunner's arcs. RTD's 'arcs' of course was just repeating a phrase plus a deus ex machina in the final episode and frankly I have a low opinion of his arcs. With Moffat, I think the Silence arc was a giant mess. The Hybrid/Clara arc was better, and probably the best arc in the show if you ask me, but honestly, I think it's just passable? Not bad, but not amazing either. I know that's an unpopular opinion in these parts tho. Chibnall is weird cos it's sort of too early to say- S11 didn't have an arc, and we're still follow
... keep reading on reddit β‘Does the 'mechanics' of RTD's storytelling bother you, finales, etc? Or does his skill as a storyteller surpass it?
Had a few samples and just been to loo and I swear I got the same smell you get from the huel bottle. Maybe I imagined it...?
Part of me thinks this is somewhat funny the other is wondering what compound leads to the smell and whether not metabolising it should be a medical concern...
The RTD website said there are some schedule and route changes, but doesn't clarify what.
I've been out of town for a month, and looking to get from Denver to Louisville to get my car... which was in one of the evacuation zones, so I'm hoping i can retrieve it (aren't they still forbidding access to certain areas?)
They changed the schedule yesterday, it used to be were i get on the bus at 730 and get to work at 7:54, no i get on the bus at 7:30, but the buses now stop at oak station and THREE FUCKING BUSES, just sit there doing nothing while i wait 20 more minutes for a fourth bus to drive 3 more stops, what insane waste of resources and idk what time bus im suposed to take now to get too my job on time cause its basically a lottery of if your bus will go the whole route to golden, or if it completely stops at oak station. Fucking ridiculous
It's been clear that the first episode of RTD's new era will be the 60th anniversary special. This means the man has a near-impossible task on his hands. He has to introduce a new Doctor and companions, do so in a way that is welcoming to new viewers, while also making something that celebrates 60 years of the show. This could well be the hardest thing a DW showrunner has ever been asked to do.
This was something I was thinking about when rewatching TDOTD. In many ways, you could argue Moffat was the perfect person to write an anniversary story. He's a master of in-joke references, but more crucially, the whole concept of his era was deconstructing the core concepts of the show. What does it mean to be "The Doctor"? What does it mean to be a companion? Is it better to fail at doing the right thing than succeeding in doing the wrong thing etc? Is there always a singular "right thing" or is life sometimes just a set of bad choices? He also fully utilised the concept of time travel in a way that very few writers have, and fully explores the implications of meeting past/future versions of yourself, not just in terms of regenerations, but also having characters like Amy/Clara meet their older/younger selves at various points.
RTD's strengths are entirely different. He's no slouch when it comes to the in-jokes, but he goes for spectacle. His finales are full of Star Wars/Marvel-esque battles, explosions and pounding orchestral music (not to say Moffat didn't do this, but he often used that sort of thing as window dressing for more quiet psychological moments). But at the same time RTD integrated an element of populism. Daleks attacking ordinary London Streets or Cybermen in the home of a London family. He always went out of his way to ground his show in real life.
With those strengths in mind, what shape do you expect RTD's anniversary special to actually take? It will obviously be entirely different to Moffat's 50th, but how exactly will RTD use his own strengths as a writer to celebrate the show's history?
