I cannot express how much more I love this subreddit since the moratorium on identity related posts rule was implemented. There have been so many excellent cultural posts, media featuring indigenous creators, local education, cross tribal/nation education, and community focused posts. It's been exactly what I really wanted to see when I subbed here. For a while I spent way too much time rolling my eyes at inappropriate posts fetishizing our communities.
Have you noticed an increase in quality posts too?
I'm about to start pricing out a new roof, and was curious if I should expect (or desire) the roofing company to complete all of the work, if they generally subcontract specialized areas out with people they trust, or if I should be researching other contractors for things like:
i cannot find this song for the life of me. I remember the title had something to do with mother/mom, any type of mother-y word. The first part of the song is basically acapella but i remember something like a clapping-like instrument going along with it. then it gets into the song and more instruments start playing. the music video is her singing on a white dirty roof with her band playing behind her. i remember thinking βtheyβre playing like this is a rock song when itβs too soft for thatβ. i donβt know what genre it was, maybe indie or something similar. all i can think of is Itβs Only by Odesza because it has that same clear singing and clapping type instrument. i really hope iβm remembering this correctly aghhh

A couple of notes:
Any consensus on the best mast height above roof level is just for clearance, avoiding snow build up, etc? I'm in New England so we get snow but being coastal I'm more concerned about wind load. I have the pole adapter on order and am trying to figure out the j-mount height needed assuming it will be mounting on the fascia on the side that's more sheltered from the wind. Anywhere I mount it on the roof will get me a clear shot of the sky and horizon. My ranges so far are ~ 20 in, 30 in, or 40 in height. If I go taller I'd be adding some eye bolts and cable supports off to the side. We can hit 50-70 mph winds with good storms but I've not seen anyone lose any dishes or antennas around us.
We have just received the report of the building survey of the house we are planning to buy. The issues below have been reported. How serious are they and how much would it cost to fix them?
Roof coverings
The flat roof sections to the dormer windows front and rear appear to be covered with lead sheet. The leadwork is poorly detailed to the cheeks of the dormer window to the front elevation whilst the leadwork is clearly of some age.
The pointing to some ridge tiles appears to be deteriorating and tiles may be loose. Loose pointing should be raked out and renewed at which time rebedding may also be required.
The mortar work below some verge tiles was noted to be cracked and defective requiring raking out and renewal. Raking out and repointing may prove a short-term solution and it is likely to fail again. Ideally, the verge tiles should be lifted, the defective mortar renewed and the tiles rebedding.
Minor moss growth is present on the roof slopes. This can impede the runoff of rainwater, lead to gutter blockages and cause water penetration, which in turn may lead to rot or other defects in nearby timbers. It would be prudent for all moss growth to be brushed away from the roof slopes. It is likely that once the moss is removed repairs could be required to the roof coverings or repointing may be necessary to the ridge tiles.
Roof structure
The purlin to the front of the extension roof does not offer support to the timber roof rafters above. Remedial works should be undertaken to alter the purlin up to the rafters or packing out of the void so as to provide support to the roof.
Some insulation (approximately 200mm) is present in the roof void although this is considered inadequate by modern day standards. We recommend a minimum thickness of 300mm of fiberglass quilt or similar insulating material is provided over all areas with the exception of the eaves, below cold water storage and expansion tanks and around electrical cabling, which should be kept clear.
We would recommend that the ventilation within the roof space is improved to reduce the risks involved. This can be carried out using air bricks in the gables, ventilated facias and soffits or roof space ventilator, all of which should have a fly screen fixed to them.
Rainwater pipes and gutters
This just cost a match, pretty disheartening. I was carefully moving along the edge, I didnt *slip* or jump down, just teleported to the bottom. Potato server or ?
I have some pretty bad leaks in the windows and walls in my place.
I sent the landlord pics and video and after asking when it will get fixed I got back:

Is this legit? I was under the impression that construction was back on with Phase 1 but obviously I'm not apprised of all the details and where something like this repair would fall.

I'm not bashing the notion of "other people's suck doesn't make your suck suck any less," but people are just barely scraping by financially, people are literally dying... and meanwhile I'm over here having crazy anxiety over my weird (non-pandemic) thoughts and the compulsions that go with them.

I'll start the Helium mining journey in few weeks and still thinking about where to locate the units the best as possible.
I don't live in the best place of the world to that, I have some friends living in cities but how to convince them to install the hardware in their places (and potentially use their internet connexion)
I mean, if somebody asked me such thing, when I investigate the reason and figure it's in order to (partly) make money, why would I let the guy install his devices and generate money through my house / flat ?
Any thought ? What's your experience with the installations at others homes.

Thats all..but what else should they add that we can think of to be a part of weather? I feel like leaks could be easy, like a lot trait could be leaky roof
Iβm fairly certain Iβm trans, and experience dysphoria and fit most criteria. However, I donβt know how to continue from here on. Iβm pretty lonely and donβt have any friends, family, or therapists that I can trust. Even if I did end up getting blockers + E, I would have to tell my school and school teachers about everything, as it would be pretty obvious Iβm going through female puberty, and I donβt feel like most would accept me or find it normal.
At this point Iβm using transphobic arguments on myself, which only makes my self hatred worse. What if no one accepts me? What if I get humiliated? What if they think Iβm a weirdo perv? What happens if I canβt transition properly? How will I ever be able to interact with anyone I know the same again?
I really want to just bottle up all trans feeling and live the rest of my life as a miserable, depressed asian cis dude. But at the same time, I want to transition and actually live decently.
Everything is so hard at this point, Iβve never been so depressed, stressed, dysphoric, lonely, dissociated, and suicidal in my entire life.
Plus, puberty is basically a ticking time bomb at this point, which gives me a time limit on top of everything else. I donβt know how long I can handle this before I hurt myself or something.
