It's amazingly irrational and makes zero sense. It also made me realise how little I have in common with a lot of other entheogen enthusiasts, and how such retreats with "shamans" probably aren't for me in the first place.
Gonna end up making it myself I reckon, and having my brother trip-sit me :)

##jihadists recruited by Azerbaijan and Turkey complain about not receiving salaries
A group of militants from the Syria-based "Suleiman Shah" cell organized a protest with complaints that they haven't received salaries for months, after participating in the Karabakh war.
ANFnews outlet shared the video of the complaint. The militants accuse the cell leader Abu Hamsha of receiving the salary funds from Turkey but not distributing it to the fighters. (press F for food)
Jihadist: we went to Karabakh alongside the Turkish state. We have ambitions. Brigade leader Abu Hamsha stole our money and the money belonging to martyrs' families. We don't even have enough to eat. This is unacceptable. (F)

##Azerbaijan's refusal to return POWs
Yesterday we learned about reports that a Baku-Yerevan flight was scheduled to repatriate several Armenian POWs after series of AM-RU-AZ meetings. Similar late-night flights with peacekeeper Muradov have been held in the past. According to BHK Naira Zohrabyan, the rumors that there would be such flight with a few dozen POWs had been circulating for a while now but no official date had ever been given. The repatriation rumor was shared yesterday by pro-government circles. Family members went to the airport with the hope to greet them.
Later it was revealed that no POWs were present in the jet when it touched down in Yerevan. Deputy PM Avinyan criticized Azerbaijan for delaying the return of POWs again. A QP MP apologized to the families for the false hope, saying the repatriation rumor was not officially confirmed but they had high hopes.
Parliamentary Security Committee Chief Andranik: there was an agreement but it was broken for unknown reasons. The head of the peacekeeping mission Rustam Muradov was in the airplane and was supposed to accompany POWs. If there were no plans to bring POWs, why would they send a jet with Muradov? [Muradov later said he did not plan to bring POWs and that the reporters were false]. Azerbaijan likely wants to use POWs as a bargaining chip again, primarily by increasing tensions within Armenia. //
The families of POWs organized a protest in Shirak province and in front of a government building with demands for news on why the POWs weren't returned. They closed roads in Shirak and tried to forcefully enter the Defense Ministry

##Aliyev's meltdown and internal issues / Pashinyan isn't a "giver"
Commentary by CivilNet:
The 2016 battles finally gave Aliyev the ability to brag about the army's strength. They presented it as a huge victory, even though Azeris didn't win and Armenians didn't lose, when you take into account what was achieved at what price.
The 2020 Tavush Battles took that pride away from Aliyev. The situation became even worse than pre-2016.
Aliyev doesn't understand Armenia very well. He was hoping that Armenia's 2018 revolution brought a peace-lover who's ready to give lands.
He thought Pashinyan is born in Armenia while RoboSerj in Karabakh, so Pashi

They had spent a week in transit, with the voyage having been mostly quiet. With the exception of the pack of Void Wolves that had been trailing the fleet for the last three days.
The fleet had dropped out of FTL for about an hour earlier that day to "discourage" them from following any further. It would be unfortunate if the creatures were to bother the Weaver colony later, or decide to harass the fleet in the middle of combat.
"Discouraging them", had consisted of first locating the biggest, meanest looking one of the critters, and shooting it in the face with a kinetic round from the spinal gun of a battlecruiser; a lesson to the others that ships were not prey.
The creature did not survive the lesson.
However the creatures were either slow learners, or determined, and continued their approach. Since the point had not yet been made, the admiral had ordered the ship to target "the next biggest one".
It too, did not survive the lesson.
The lessons continued until the void wolf pack had taken approximately 50% casualties; at which point the remaining creatures fled, while emitting electromagnetic "howls" of various frequency.
Now however, the fleet was finally at the edge of the system and within communication range.
"Alright Silver, send a greeting and link us in to the Weaver's Battlenet, lets see how things are going" said the admiral.
"You got it boss" replied the AI.
The tactical display lit up with the words "ESTABLISHING BATTLEFIELD CONTROL, STANDBY".
A minute or so passed before he began to wonder what was taking so long. "Silver?"
"Keep your panties on, these spiders are weird. Even with the translation index Hool gave us, it's still hard to parse what they are sending" replied the AI.
"Yes. We've been in contact with them for over a century, and STILL haven't entirely perfected our understanding of the Weaver's language. Their spoken language is highly contextual, information dense, multi-banded, and, well, sort of "sung" to each other." said Ambassador Hool.

Saviour Protocols β 1 CP, Epic Deed Stratagem
Use this Stratagem in any Phase, when a saving throw is failed for a model in a <Sept> unit from you army. Select one friendly <Sept> DRONE model within 3β of that unit or within 6β of that unit if it contains a model equipped with a drone controller. That DRONE model is destroyed and the Damage characteristic of that attack is changed to 0.
This works on everything. I saw some people reporting that the Riptide or Stormsurge could not benefit from this. That is not accurate. Originally, I was keying on these two models not being able to benefit from the improved 6β zone granted by having a drone controller.
In the case of the Stormsurge, this was a mistake on my part. A drone controller is part of the basic wargear of the unit, buried in that mass of equipment right under the statlines. It reads as follows:
βA Stormsurge is equipped with: cluster rocket system; 4 destroyer missiles; twin Tβau flamer; pulse driver cannon; 2 smart missile systems; drone controller; target lock; velocity tracker; thunderous footfalls.β The stats on Thunderous Footfalls are S User, AP -2, Dmg 2. All for the low, low price of 330 pts.
Drone controller rules are: βIn your Command phase, you can select one DRONE unit within 6β of the bearer. Until the start of your next Command phase: DRONE models in that unit have a Ballistic Skill characteristic of 4+. GUN DRONE models in that unit lose the Threat Identification Protocol ability.β
Riptides and Broadsides CANNOT have drone controllers, which feels egregious to me as both units can pay extra for specialist fighting drones used nowhere else in the army. I know you built them because I too built them. (Shielded missile drones are W2 now.) Frigginβ Pathfinders get a drone controller now, which certainly improves my opinion of the Recon drone.
Sure, another model with a drone controller can nominate the unit in the Command phase but that feels⦠like an obvious oversight? A battlesuit should be able to keep their own house in order, I think. Maybe a purposeful omission, but still frustrating.

Jason nearly stumbled. Which admittedly, wasnβt that hard to do, given that heβd practically limped his way here with the rest of the survivors of Underground Attack Group One.
What few there were.
Heβd barely made it a few feet inside the metal fencing that delineated the outline of the Mining Nexus before Avilla had come striding up to him.
βDead? How?β He turned to look at the plant woman who looked almost as rough as he felt.
The young lieutenant looked warily over his small group of stragglers as they limped inside the perimeter before turning back to him. βThe Alliance pulled the same trick on us that we tried to pull on them. Only difference is, they succeeded.β
She deliberately glanced back toward the center of the base toward a plume of smoke that was wafting carelessly into the windy skies.
One of several.
βThe cunts used a nearby cave system to get close before blowing a hole basically right out from under the MCV.β She paused thoughtfully. ββ¦Though, credit where credit is due, the colonel didnβt take the unexpected invasion of her command unit lying down. From what I saw before the generator-core melted down, she and the other officers made a bloody mess of the first team into the commander center.β
Jason was barely listening, most of his mind was focused on the fact that Cleff was apparently dead.
Just like that? The thought came to him numbly. It just seemed soβ¦ anti-climactic? Wasnβt there supposed to be a big battle? One that heβd actually see? Epic last words and final blaze of glory? Not thisβ¦ impersonal recounting.
βI thought we had sentries beneath us to guard against tunnelers?β His voice came out as more of a croak.
βWe did.β The plant-woman emphasized the past-tense. βUnfortunately, the Edixi are apparently better infiltrators than our people are guards. First indication we got that anything was wrong was when the skies-damned ground opened up.β
Jason nodded slowly.
βStill not entirely sure whether they chose to retreat after the bloodbath in the MCV, or if we drove them off, but weβve collapsed the tunnels beneath the facility.β She paused, as if in thought. βWhich was something I suggested we do when we arrived at this dump, but you know how Cleff is - or was - never eager to close a possible avenue of attack if it meant it was a possible avenue for counter-attack.β She gestured to where his people had more or less sprawled out near the gate. *β*You know, despite the fact that she insisted on

Since the Swamp is the worst biome ever (probably even more annoying than the Plains), specially considering the difficulty jump from the Black Forest, I thought I will write up about the Swamp. This is purely my experience and by no means is flawless, so please feel free to add, criticize and comment, so I can better improve this so that our fellow Vikings will find this worthwhile. Now that my preamble is out of the way lets get to it.

It is always raining in the swamp, so the wet effect will always be active. The wet effect reduces health regen by 25% and stamina regen by 15%. If a Viking chooses to travel in the night beware of the Cold effect which further reduces the health regen by 50% and the stamina regen by 25%.
Make sure you have your rested bonus at all times when you are in the Swamp as the rested bonus increases Health regen by 50% and Stamina regen by 100%. Essentially reducing the overall debuff of the wet effect.
Takeaway : Always have your rested bonus. Do not travel in the night whenever possible.

She was still a juvenile. Her carapace was teal with an iridescent sheen. It would be a few years yet before it darkened to the sapphire blue of an adult thinker, and she chose her name.
Still, she was old enough to leave the creche on her own, so long as she completed the day's studies. Math and physics, philosophy and art, along with dozens of other subjects. Thinkers studied more, and longer than any other caste. Well, except maybe the queens, but she didn't know for sure. Queens weren't raised in the creche, the queens raised their daughters themselves.
She liked to use her free time to study the bipeds. Her teachers had tried to discourage the interest. They weren't a psionically capable species, and so naturally of lower intellect. They were also a bit of a nuisance. Even with all of their military capabilities destroyed, they would build crude weapons to attack hives. Chemical rockets and the like.
The response had been simple. Place point defense lasers at every hive, and everything else worth protecting, then go back to ignoring the bipeds. They built their cities in plains and valleys, near bodies of water. The Drexi preferred rocky terrain, mountains, high deserts. Every once in a while she'd see one of the orbital laser cannons attack a surface target. That meant the bipeds were still trying to build ships or other military equipment, but there was simply no possibility of them posing a real threat.
She started her investigations with the written language. Despite the fact that they obviously possessed computers and electronic communications equipment, they seemed to like to commit knowledge to paper bound in animal hides or synthetic substitutes. Perhaps it was a cultural tradition. Whatever the case, it meant there were many examples of the written language available to study. Sometimes there were pictures, which was particularly helpful.
The language wasn't logically constructed. Any time she thought she'd figured out a hard and fast rule for grammar or spelling, she'd find an example that violated it. Eventually she thought she'd figured it out. It wasn't one language, it was many languages smashed together by someone who had no regard for order or decency.
Learning the "spoken" language would be more interesting. Th

At the same time, the Terran Firstβs tank and Exo companies would sortie out to take the fight to them. Caught out, in the open ground outside the mining nexus where the tanks held the advantage, the Edixi regiment would be pincered between the two forces and destroyed - or otherwise rendered combat inoperable. At which point, both attacking forces would retreat before the other two Alliance Regimentβs that maintained the current cordon around the Nexus were able to arrive to intervene.
A simple plan that had so many points of failure that Jason genuinely wondered how it hadnβt been shot down in the briefing room.
Oh yeah, our colonelβs determined to go out in a blaze of glory, he thought as he languidly looked over the small flotilla of boats that made up the infantry component of βUnderground Attack Group Oneβ.
Which seemed a fairly ridiculous title to him, given that Underground Attack Group One was the only Underground Attack Group.
Expansive or not, their came a point with tunnels where more bodies would simply get in the way. And according to Puta, that point was exactly two platoons worth of men and women.
Personally, he thought the number to be a tad small given what they were intended for, but he hadnβt been asked his opinion. The only thing heβd been asked was if he thought it might be possible to get the Ufrianβs onboard to help navigate the underground world.
And being the naΓ―ve idiot he was, heβd said yes.
To be fair, heβd thought theyβd been spitballing ideas for a possible avenue of retreat β not attack β but that scrap of knowledge proved precious little comfort to him now. Not now that he was sat in a boat, who knew how far underground, and set to attack a much larger and better equipped force.
Oh yeah, and Iβll probably be responsible for getting those Ufrian guides we brought with us killed. He thought grimly. Because some higher power thought it would be deliciously ironic for me to be responsible for getting them killed in a war that has nothing to do with them while I in turn am about to be killed in an alien war that I have nothing to do with.
To be fair, heβd had the feeling that the Ufrian Chiefess had been less than enthused about risking her people herself. Unfortunately for her, and his
