The content of this training is shocking in the way Steve redefines "accountability", asserting that overseers should create an environment of "protection and safety" for the lead pastor and insulate him from the members of the church.

In this teaching Dan Digman teaches Cedar Heights Church in State College, PA about how leaders are to be chosen and obeyed in The Network. Similar in substance to the Small Group Leader Training materials posted on our sources page, this teaching has at its core the theological position that leaders within The Network are divinely appointed directly by Jesus and that they therefore "hear" divine guidance which church members must obey.
This position on leadership and authority, held throughout The Network, gives further context to the stories of authoritarian control in which followers are asked to obey the divine (mystical) guidance of their leaders, to their own detriment.
I’ll start: “We went to the temple for date night”
Translation: My husband and I put on Masonic robes, sat on opposite sides of a weird movie theater, where we watched a movie about Bible creation story, did some weird handshakes and chants. After we got ice cream and went home.
I've seen this going around online among the geography community, and it's a real pet peeve. The argument is that the continents should be redefined to better reflect strong cultural boundaries, but I couldn't disagree more. I am in 100% agreeance that cultural boundaries are absolutely important, but the whole idea of a "continent" should be strictly geographical, not sociocultural. One of the biggest examples is that India should be a separate continent (it's already a subcontinent) because of how different it is from the rest of Asia. This is ridiculous to me. A continent isn't supposed to be about how culturally different two places are, they're for defining large and contiguous landmasses. India is connected to Asia by land, therefore it is a part of Asia.
As for Europe? Yes! I am in favor of combining it with Asia to make Eurasia, since many countries do this already. I don't care how different Portugal is from Singapore, they clearly belong to the same continent. It would be a big adjustment and not the ideal choice, but it makes sense logically. Africa should stay separate since it is disconnected by the Suez Canal. I don't care if it's manmade, either. To me, that is enough to warrant a new and separated continent. The same goes for the Americas. I understand the idea behind combining the two both into just "America", but the Panama Canal prevents that. As well it should, since there's clearly a cultural divide between North and South America, and all that was needed to really solidify it was a canal. Going back to India - if, for some reason, a gigantic canal went all the way around India (say the Gangetic Plain flooded, for example) which separated it from Asia, I would be all in for it to be a separate continent.
But this argument of suggesting that since India is different, or the Middle East is culturally different and therefore should be its own continent, is ludicrous. There's even people I've heard who suggest that Africa should be split among North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, etc. Those aren't continents! They're cultural and geographic regions! This idea of further dividing continents already exists; I don't understand why we're mixing them up. The modern idea of the continent is fine as it is, it doesn't need to be further split up more. It's geological, not cultural. What are your thoughts??
I think Crowd Control is defined a little bit inconsistently(or rather I haven't been able to figure out a rule that all forms of crowd control use). Main examples being how roots, which completely negate movement unless a movement ability is used, are defined as soft cc and are therefore not affected by DR(Diminishing Returns) or CCR(Crowd Control Reduction). Whereas trembles and intoxicate effect, which don't prevent movement at all and instead make you move in random directions alongside your own movement control (also slightly pulling towards a center if tremble), ARE considered hard cc.
Because of this I find roots to be one of the more frustrating types of CC to deal with in the game, because they tend to be quite long and common and if you're playing a character with limited movement abilities you more or less just have to sit through the full duration with no diminishing returns to help mitigate some of it.
There's to my knowledge not even a real reason why roots should be considered soft cc, even Magi's Cloak which purpose is to mitigate some hard crowd control effects specifically has in its passive stated it applied to hard crowd control as well as roots, so roots are bundled together with hard crowd control anyway.
Whether it's a significant issue or not or whether it causes balance issues or not is not really of my concern, I dislike inconsistency and the rules seem to be pretty inconsistent. So I'd like to suggest a consistent rule for defining crowd control.
We define 3 types of control: ability usage, movement, and auto attack usage
If one or more of these three controls are prevented entirely it's a Hard Crowd Control Effect
If one or more of these three controls are limited it's a Soft Crowd Control Effect
Some examples of the rule being applied:
Stuns prevent all three controls, therefore it remains a hard crowd control effect
Slows only limit movement control, therefore it remains a soft crowd control effect
Roots prevent movement control, therefore it changes to a hard crowd control effect.
Cripples prevent ability usage, but only if it is a movement ability like a leap or a dash. Not all abilities are prevented so it remains a soft crowd control effect.
Disarms prevent auto attack usage, and therefore remains a hard crowd control.
Intoxicate does not fully prevent movement, but forces you to move in random directions alongside your own movement. Therefore it changes from a h
