Quality Function Deployment could help businesses to think differently with COVID-19 pressure

COVID-19 truly has shift customer needs and disturbed a lot of organisations operation. Quality function deployment tool would be great to leverage to redefine customer needs and act upon strategically!

If you are interested to know more about QFDs and other Lean Six Sigma tools/ approaches, I highly recommend taking this course.

Has anyone been able to accurately calculate deployment and function call costs of smart contracts?

So I recently deployed a contract to mainnet but it ended up costing nearly 50% more than what I had calculated. Just wondering if anyone has been able to actually fully predict costs. Possibly I did something wrong in my calculation as I did find this area a bit confusing to get my head around.

I used brownie to generate a gas report to see gas used in the contact. Then I did (gas_used * gas_price * 0.000000001) to get the eth cost.
Could be I'm misunderstanding how the gas report function works on brownie as docs don't give much detail around it other than how to run the command.

Deployment manager for functions

Hi all,

I’m in the process of refactoring my project into Google Cloud Deployment templates and am wondering best practices for functions.

Some questions I currently have that I’d appreciate any input:

  • Separate configurations for each function, source file, or all together?
  • I can reference the function zip file in Cloud Storage, but how do I tie the creation and upload of that zip together? I see, now, that β€˜gcloud deploy’ takes care of a lot of plumbing under the hood and I’m trying to move all of this into DM, but I’m not sure it’s possible.
  • Suggested directory structure for templates? Should they sit next to their source files or in their own directory? Ultimately I’m trying to setup a full CI/CD pipeline that will respond to commits and only deploy where necessary (ie: when a main.pay for a function updates, only deploy that function)

Thanks and happy new year!

[x-post from askengineers] resources to learn Quality function deployment

Hi all,

to improve the quality of the product and my interactions with sales/production i was thinking of implementing some sort of quality workflow and control.

we are already iso9001, but it is not enough (and we don't actually follow it every time, but this is another story....)

so across my searching I came in contact to the concept of QFD or quality function deployment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_function_deployment

can someone point me thowards some solid resources to learn this stuff? any success storyes/horror stories?

i tried google, but most of my resulst were crappy- lot of fluff- vaporware. maybe I am just looking for the wrong keywords.

we are a small company, design and manufacturing is done inhouse, if this can help narrowing the scenario.

PS. sorry for the grammar and typos, english is not my first language.

[PowerShell] Automating SCCM app deployment, detection method needed isn't a parameter of function?

Title is a little wonky so sorry about that, pretty much we are trying to automate as much as we can, we are focusing on our most deployed apps and one of them is Google Chrome Enterprise.

So far we have automated the download of the latest version of Chrome, grabbing the latest version number of the application (via getting the file version), but when looking at the SCCM cmdlet Add-CMCIDetectionMethod I do not see an option for a file/folder path, today we are using the file path and the Chrome.exe version information of greater than or equal to $VersionX pretty much.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Built a full SaaS app using React, Gatsby, CSS Grid. AWS Amplify for auth and functions, Prismic and Rails for CMS and Amplify console for deployment.

Hello there fellow React devs!

I've spent the last two years building this project with my wife (she does design + all the logos while I do the code): Logology.

I'm using React with styled-components on the frontend, with a ton of custom work to make it look as polished as possible:

  • heavy use of css grid
  • created an entire "visible grid" set of components
  • custom css animation for the background circles
  • custom slideshow for the homepage
  • fully responsive

On the backend, I'm using:

  • AWS Amplify (for authentication, lambda functions)
  • AWS Amplify console for deployment
  • Ruby on Rails for managing the logo catalog
  • Prismic for the blog content

Having started React at the very beginning years ago, I've gotta say that things like Gatsby or useEffect hooks made my life infinitely easier.

I'd love to know what you all think about it.

is relying on free labor an Achilles heel that will accelerate the decay of the LDS church? Can a church function if the pool of quality leaders dries up, and only poor leaders are left? Leaders that are not dynamic, not introspective, not equipped to inspire youth or role model healthy living?

I think this is a compounding problem UNIQUE to the LDS CHURCH, that is very understood by the church and seen in developing areas all over the world. When you have lay clergy, just providing cash and a chapel is not enough to sustain a ward.

You need committed people converted to your cause and willing to sacrifice for you. The Q15, with their nepotism, growing elitism, and always being surrounded by a bubble if yes men, are quickly loosing all respect the members once held for them. This "royal q15 family" backlash from normal members will only accelerate the disengagement of members. And unless Holland is going to cover nursery, it is not sustainable.

Or, as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 12:21: The eye cannot say to the hand, β€œI don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, β€œI don’t need you!”

the q15 seem to think they don't need to broadly cultivate committed members to keep the church alive. Well they don't....if they are okay rotting away to a church as small as Scientology.
