A list of puns related to "Pops Orchestra"
I was amused by some pop songs recomposed for a live orchestra, how boring must be to play repetitive sustains all over the piece. Iβm thinking if composers use guidelines to make songs modern and pleasant to listen to. Wouldnβt be more interesting if a couple of first violins play melody and others answers, second violins do their own part and clarinets play higher thirds on a melody one octave lower etc meaning, canβt composer use more harmonization to make it fun? Or is it too messy to do so?
I really like this style of music, such as Typhoon, Beirut, Mother Falcon, Kishi Bashi etc. They don't have to be full orchestras, just with horns or strings or something.
Do you know any bands or artists similar? Feel free to think outside the box, I have wide tastes in music. Thank you!
For example, Bastille - Send them Off! Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love

I am looking for a song that for the best part of 10 years for what I can tell, never existed.
I remember the music video frequently being on VH1 and MTV around the years 2000/01 and that it was someone featuring Vanessa Mae (or some other famous violinist). It was a female singer and the lyrics to the chorus went along the line of "And all my life.... I've been waiting her for you. And I can't wait.... for my dreams to all come true..."
The tune itself sounded similar to the ending of "Run boy run" by Woodkid with slight changes but it was also an orchestra playing. I remember this song playing a lot on the radio too but now I can't seem to find it anywhere, as if it never existed.
Please can someone help me find this song as it is bugging me.
Kind of a long shot, but does anyone know when Pops results typically come out? I auditioned about a week and a half ago and havenβt heard back (same with everyone else Iβve talked to). I sent an email a couple days ago but havenβt gotten a response. The first rehearsal to this Sundayβ¦
Edit: nvm results just got released!
As a kid in the early 90s, my parents had a mix tape and there was that beautiful song I absolutely need to find! It's haunting me! I can't remember the lyrics because I didn't speak english at the time. I can't ask my parents unfortunately. So, it was a retro slow pop (soul?) song, but it could've been recorded in the 80s or early 90s because the sound quality was great. It's a busy arrangement, quite big production. The vibe was epic because of the big female choir we could hear in the chorus. There was also an orchestra with sparks of wind instruments such as trombone. If you go listen to the song Nothing by Dwight Yoakam, start at 2:30 til the end, and it had that same vibe. Less drum and a bit slower tempo tho. But it was a male singer I think (or woman with deep voice) with female choir like that and wind instruments doing the same thing (it was 3 notes). A bit more hints, my parents liked 60s-70s popular soft songs, they liked Roy Orbison, Living Next Door to Alice by Smokie, stuff like that, you get the idea. I've been looking for that song for years now, you have no idea what it means to me. Thank you so much for you help! I will go listen to all the suggestions and get back to you if one of you gets it right!
Here's the humming of what I remember to be the Chorus: https://voca.ro/14v3rLLXldIfThe first ''Nah-ni-na-ni-na-ni-na-ni-nanahhhh'' is the female backvocals, then the '' Tan-nan-nan-nan'' is the main vocal, next the ''PAN-PANAN!!!'' is the horns/orchestra, and then goes the main vocalist again. Not sure about the last part, I was 8 last time I've heard it and it's been over 25 years.
Edit: recreated it in an online sequencer: https://onlinesequencer.net/2226008
This should make anyone go like: "YES". It was popular enough for this to be enough to remember it, I think.
Hi all,
This song starts with a compressed orchestra string sound effect at B6min, sliding up one octave on the first beat, remaining at B7min for the next three beats. This repeats the entire song. (It might slide down again on the last beat, I'm not entirely sure.)
Chords would be: Bmin-Bmin-A-A-Emin-Emin-Bmin-Bmin
Speed would be around 80-100 bpm
Piano is an important part of the whole song, not sure about other defining instruments (other than drums, bass etc).
Don't know about the lyrics, sadly.
I think it was sort of popular, maybe featured in one or two movies even. It's the sort of song that would play at the end of the movie, when the bad-ass female would be walking through public in a "I overcame my problem, learned a lesson, gained self respect, nothing can hurt me now" sort of manner. A bit reminiscent of Neo in The Matrix (no, it's not Clubbed to Death), I'd guess, but then more dystopian like "Γon Flux".
