A list of puns related to "Pole Fitness"
I started my pole fitness journey a couple months ago and my husband really hates it. Heβs embarrassed that his sons have a mom who βpole dancesβ and canβt stand the fact they might βaccidentally slip upβ n tell someone one day. I really truly enjoy it and found that itβs been great for my mental health and physical fitness overall. I do it in a studio with women only and NOT at a club for money or anything like that yet he still calls me a βstripperβ. Despite all of this I continue to go because I canβt imagine my life without it. AITA?
I went to a beginner's pole dancing class today and I had so much fun (thanks Groupon :D) but I would definitely like to practice more. The studio offers it on one of the days of the week but for $30.
If anyone knows of a fitness center, gym, or random place that has poles for practice, please let me know. It's a long shot, but Reddit knows mostly everything.
Edit: I should mention that I live in Central Jersey / Somerset County.
I'm just debating starting on my pole fitness journey. I'm late 20's, moderately fit and have no upper body strength.
Any helpful tips to get started with would be great! Thanks x
Anyone know of any good pole fitness studios or twerk classes in London? Preferably more East LDN. Thanks π
So, I have been taking private pole dancing lessons for a year now. I don't perform and I have no intentions to do so. It isn't "sexy" most of the time. It is a struggle and much more difficult that I could have imagined. But my upper body and core strength have increased dramatically. I really enjoy spinning around on that thing. And it gives me a creative outlet. I know that most think of pole and think immediately of strippers but there are many types of pole fitness. It is even an olympic sport now!
I have a perfect little room in which I could put a pole. I was really looking forward to having one to practice at home, but someone brought it to my attention that this might not be appropriate with a young daughter. It's not like I am going to be doing all kinds of erotic moves on it. But I kind of get her point. When my five year old gets a little older the last thing I want is to see her whipping her hair around and straddling a pole in any kind of sexual fashion. And even if I am not doing these things but instead using it to do more gymnastic-like pole tricks, I am still ultimately at fault, right?
Not looking to hear judgement for doing pole fitness. But I do want advice on if it is "appropriate" to have a pole in my home. Although it is a great form of stress relief for me, my daughter comes first.
Iβm having a hard time finding pole shorts for girls who are size 14. I see comments the ones I have found for that size are wayyyy too small. Bonus points if they are high waisted
Does anybody know of any pole dance instructors/studios in the tricity area?
Without getting too into my gender situation, I am, AFAB genderfluid and I like playing hopscotch with gender norms. I did pole fitness for half a year but stopped after feeling what I now recognize as dysphoria. I was struggling with the image of looking like a woman when I don't feel like one, in a class full of cis women, being taught by a cis woman how to be "sexy" or "seductive" from a cis woman gaze. I was going through a lot of gender things at the time, and one of the things I still feel is that we don't learn a lot about what it means to be sexy as a different gender. I don't really see sexy nonbinary representation, especially when you're AFAB and if you're dressed "too femininely" then you're waved off as a cis woman. And when I ever tried to be sexy and failed to feel sexy, I was doing so in the way I've been taught when I was socialized as AFAB. And that's where I am struggling.
I am trying to get back into pole and I am wondering if maybe changing what clothes I wore would help. My gc2b binders don't really restrict my breathing at all, so I've thought of wearing those instead of my sports bra in class. Are there any binders with cute designs from other places you could recommend? Additionally, I could wear a regular booby sports bra for my more femme days but if there were some cool tops that would counter the femininity. Tank tops are fine to be longer than the sports bra. If I need my stomach, I'll just tie it up from the back.
For bottoms, I need either super short shorts or basically a swimsuit cut because I need as much skin with which to grab the pole as I can. I considered wearing TomboyX or Woxer briefs, but they read too much as regular, casual underwear for me so I feel uncomfortable, like I'm a slob who left the house in just their underwear (I know it doesn't make sense, but underwear feels different than wearing something for pole fitness).
I don't necessarily have to look "masculine" to be androgynous, as that's a big issue I come across as an AFAB. I'd rather read as feminine the way a cis man can, rather than how a cis woman is read as feminine; it's a different vibe. I guess my big thing is I want to look, at least to myself, queer or genderqueer, whatever that may mean. I'm getting huge imposter syndrome from being in a class full of cis women while learning sexiness from that point of view and I'm thinking maybe if I leaned into it and established myself as other on the gender spectrum somehow, I wouldn't be so uncomfo
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm currently a private tenant in Northern Ireland and have a professional grade pressure mounted fitness pole put up in my living room between the hardwood flooring and our exposed ceiling beams. This is 100% pressure mounted with no screws, and with rubber on the top and base plates to prevent damage/scratches to the ceiling and floor (think a pressure doorway pull-up bar, but longer and vertical). I've been doing pole and aerial fitness for over 6 years now and taught a few years ago so I know how to install these correctly over ceiling joists, and the building we live in is a converted mill with solid brick and exposed wooden joist ceilings so much sturdier than a normal ceiling.
Our property manager (not landlord) is coming around tomorrow morning as our heating isn't working (which is a whole other thing itself, its taken us over 2 weeks to get someone to come out for that). He's definitely going to see the pole up and I'm worried there may be repercussions. I've never had a landlord or property manager visit with my pole up before, and I'm not sure if there can be any repercussions of me not telling them? Since its not a permanent fixture and theres no damage, could they actually do anything about it? I'm reluctant to take it down because its not causing any harm (its also a bit of a hassle), but my housemate said 'if we get penalized or a fine for it, you're paying'.
Can they actually do anything about it since theres no screws or anything involved? I doubt it, and my housemate doesn't mind it being up or staying up, but his passing comment has be a bit paranoid. Obviously if any damage did happen somehow, we'd have it taken from our deposit or repair it ourselves out of pocket before leaving, but there is not any damage at this exact moment and won't be when the property manager gets here.
**I'm not a stripper and theres no business going on, its purely for fitness and a nice training addition to acro/aerial hoop/silks that I do in a studio**
Please no judgement
I live in Washington D.C. but will be living in Phoenix come october, and I have a great pole studio where I am now. I really enjoy pole dancing. I do it mainly for fitness reasons, but Iβm still pretty new at it (been doing it maybe 6 months) so I really want to continue classes and possibly even private lessons until Iβve mastered it a little more. Does anyone know of any good pole studios in Phoenix? Iβll be living in Biltmore/Camelback area but donβt mind a bit of a drive if need be
After talking with my pre-med advisor recently, I thought Iβd bring a question to this Reddit. I do pole fitness and have for three years and will be teaching it soon. We discussed both sides of listing this as an EC in my applications. Itβs a body positive, empowering, physically and mentally demanding gymnastic sport. But also it has the stigma of pole dance around it. So we worry about listing it. It does have the potential to make me stand out but also the potential to get me shut down immediately if thereβs an ignorant reviewer. What say yβall?
Tonight I had my intro to pole fitness and I really enjoyed it! I got the fairy spin down! π I also figured out one thing that had given me problems-trying to do pole on carpet. I canβt slide. Apart from the kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms the only room with a non carpeted floor is my family room, which has a vaulted high ceiling.
Does anyone track there pole exercise on their fitness tracker? I need to take mine off during class but it would be cool to log it as something. Currently using a fitbit.
The studio where I started, itβs kind of a βjust try itβ vibe. They play music, you work on your stuff, and the instructor comes around and offers tips or shows new moves. I recently went to a new studio, and itβs so extremely formalβ every minute is scheduled, youβre only supposed to work on that one thing, and they talk a lot about βextensionβ and different types of grips. I hated itβwalked out halfway through.
Is the studio I started at super unusual? The owner/instructor wasnβt formally trained herself, she was an athlete and stripper. After my awful experience at this new studio Iβm worried that what I love about pole isnβt normally a thing in pole fitness.
Are there any decent pole studios in Victoria that are offering in-person classes?
Basically the title. This is the very basic of what happened because if I told everything in detail it would be way more than 3000 characters.
Iβm 22f and my bf is 26. Iβve been pole dancing for about 2 years and weβve been together for 1.5 years. Iβm in love with pole dance fitness and my boyfriend has always been lukewarm to it. He would say stuff like βitβs sexy I guess but weird.β
Itβs been a huge issue because my studio hired on a new instructor whoβs a gay man. Heβs a great teacher and I love learning new tricks from him. I have a lot of videos and pictures and the most recent video is of me and new instructor doing a Superman move on the same pole. Heβs above me by a couple feet and weβre not even touching. Itβs not even a sexual pose nor anything else about it is sexual. My boyfriend basically through a huge b*tch fit over it and demanded I take down all of my videos and pictures and to quit pole dancing. I basically told him to kick rocks and he got mad and left.
AITA?
hello fellow humans! sooo im a teen interested in pole fitness. my mom says its provocative and sensual, yet i know its not. can anybody explain pole fitness in a way i can use to convince my mom to let me begin classes? she associates it with stripping, as many do, though it was only associated with stripping in the 20th century. please somebody reply, i think pole dancing is a very beautiful art form and i could use the upper body strength for volleyball. thank you so much <3
If so, where do you take them, and can I get to them by the city bus? I noticed all the places seem to be about 20-40 minutes away from campus, and I will not have a car in Orlando.
Also, if you know, how much do you pay per class/per month's membership?
Thank you to anyone who answers! And for anyone interested, I'd love to have a friend to take classes with/share the love of the sport with :D
Hey guys,
So I am wondering if there are any plus size girls who do pole fitness? I am having one heck of a time finding shorts or any pole wear that will fit me. Iβm a 1x or size 16 in us sizes.
Thanks in advance.
