A list of puns related to "Plant Cuticle"

We get a lot of lists of magic items that are cheap, faulty, useless or otherwise donβt work as expected, so Iβd like this one to be mundane items only.
Not all adventuring gear is made equal! Especially in a fantasy setting where that backpack isnβt manufactured in a factory but tediously handmade by a craftsperson (or craftscreature). There are bound to be variations in quality, appearance, and utility. While your top-of-the-line shops feature Playerβs Handbook-quality gear (and prices), why not save a few coppers and buy something almost as good from Lucky Leftyβs Discount Gear Emporium?
Roll | Item | Notes |
---|---|---|
01 | Ball Bearings (bag of 1,000) | Most of them are too misshapen to roll; creatures moving over them at full speed have advantage on their DC10 Dexterity saving throw. |
02 | Boots | Functional but noticeably poorly made. |
03 | Chain Shirt | The weaver made the rings too large, so itβs AC 12 instead of 13. |
04 | Dagger | Not well balanced; if thrown, attack is made at disadvantage. |
05 | Oil (flask) | Burns smoky and with a pungent odor. |
06 | Pole, 10-foot | Actually 9 1/2 feet long. |
07 | Pole, 10-foot | Marked off one through eleven every 11 inches so it goes to 121". "This one goes to eleven." (/u/wintermute93) |
08 | Rations (1 day) | A sack of unshelled peanuts and a sliver of dried meat from an unidentifiable creature. |
09 | Rope, 50β | Made of a fibrous plant just as strong as hemp but delectable to rodents. |
10 | Waterskin | The poorly tanned leather imparts the contents with a bitter taste. |
11 | Matchbooks | An collection of (1d20+15) matchbooks, all from various taverns across realm or world. (/u/mecheye) |
12 | Hat of Encouragement | Although labeled a magical hat, it's just an ordinary hat. (/u/Professional_Bug_807) |
13 | Smallfolk Two-Handed Weapons | An assortment of two-handed heavy weapons scaled down for use by smallfolk (or children), and therefore do less damage. (/u/silipiwitz and /u/ButtonholePhotophile) |
14 | Full Metal Axe | An intimidating axe but made of pewter. It is intended to be a wall decoration, but can be used as a weapon, doing 1D6 damage. Breaks on an attack roll of 6 or less. (/u/Th3R3493r) |
15 | Toy Crossbo |
I knew I wasn't getting a husband today, but I still had to wear the same robe I was given at fifteen (now practically threadbare), and go to the annual matching ceremony. Pansy watched me with her typical feline disinterest as I prepared myself, and she yawned and curled up on my bed as I waved goodbye and walked out into the night.
After hiking up the highest hill in our commune, I sat on one of the mats reserved for the unmatched, studying the nervous girls in the hut with me. Soon, all the boys that turned fifteen this year will enter, meet with us, and make their choice. Whoever they choose must accept, as it was EorΓΎe's will and we must abide so He'd continue blessing our lands.
I used to feel humiliated at these ceremonies. Most girls get matched on their first attendance, at fifteen. A few may get lucky a year or two later. But me? I was already thirty-five and still as single as ever.
The community pitied me at first, but the older I got, the more they started avoiding me. Especially the young unmatched girls. They didn't want my curse to rub off on them.
Honestly, though, once I hit twenty, it felt more like a blessing than a curse. We were taught from childhood that a girl's purpose was to serve her husband, and at fifteen, I desperately wanted to prove my worth. But as I grew older, the council didn't know what to do with me, so they had me tend to their gardens, still serving men until a man matched with me.
Although I lived in a hut on their property, they left me alone, for it was improper for men to interact with unmatched girls, no matter their age. Their wives and children left me alone too, due to my aforementioned "curse". And it was then that I learned how wonderful it was to be independent. Just me, my little hut, the gardens, and Pansy.
I was still forced to continue attending the ceremonies though, but I began enjoying them. Certain none of the boys would choose me over one of the younger girls, I'd relax and watch their awkward courtship rituals, trying to guess who'd match with who.
After a few years, my predictions became flawless, especially after I began drinking dandelion tea before the ceremony. Intrigued, I experimented with herbs, roots, and flowers from the garden, and soon I could even foresee the matched's futures. I was certain I was tapping into EorΓΎe's will due to my connection to His creations.
A bell chimed, and I adjusted my patched robe and smiled as a train of teenage boys entered the hut. They walk

Preface: In part 2 we will look at each of the primary materials used in outdoor apparel. There is oftentimes contention with what materials work better at what position. With this part of the series I hope to dig in and sort out why certain people in certain areas and certain lineage tend to have an affinity to particular material in their kit!
Intentions: To expound on the different materials used in textiles and their properties. With knowing the information being able to use that and place them in a layering system to achieve an expected result.

#Material Structure:
Getting into the structure of the fibers that go into the garment can get sticky. Lets start with natural fibers first because the material for the most part is what it is.
#Wool:
Top level: there is a cuticle and a cortical.. What does this mean for you when wearing
Cortex: Cuticle: Hydrophobic (Outside) plated in structure and waxy in structure making it not only hydrophobic but repel water.
Cortical: hydrophilic(Inside) attracts the moisture
Because the Cuticle is plated in structure it allows the inner Cortical hydrophilic material to pull the moisture vapor to the inside of the fiber.

#Cotton:
Cotton has a similar structure to wool, walled structure around an inner lumin.
The structure is made up of 4 basic parts, The cuticle, primary wall, a secondary wall(s) and the lumin.

Cuticle: a thin film of fats and waxes.
Primary wall: the structure of the primary wall is open and unstructured
Secondary wall: this makes up the lion's share of the cotton fiber(

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
It was a cool night, at the time of year when the weather started to get a little cooler at night, if not so much in the daytime.
I was recently out of the Fire Academy (placed first overall, toot, toot!), and the Station to which I had been assigned would be my home for the next two years. It was a good one; on the periphery of the city, with responsibility to respond in more limited fashion in the county, as well. One of the two busiest stations we had, and overseen by one of the Departmentβs most capable Lieutenants, a man with years of experience.
I was standing in the open door of the bay with our driver, watching the unremitting rain that had been falling for hours. Without looking my way, he assured me βThereβll be a bad one tonight. Be ready.β Heβd been on the job a long time, too.
It happened two hours later: a single car accident where a van driving too fast for conditions hadnβt made a sharp curve, and had rolled and tumbled into the median. Thankfully, it had missed some palm trees planted there.
The van was resting on its roof when we arrived. Still pouring rain. The two people were still inside it; a married couple. Windshield and windows shattered, roof partly compressed.
The man was in the front. Heβd been driving. The woman was lying in the back, on what had been the ceiling. Someone would have to get inside and do initial assessment, then help get them out from the inside. Weβd have to take them out through one of the side windows, or get a side door open.
That fell to me. Seeing that it would be pretty tight confines, I shed my bunker coat and helmet, and crawled in through a side window.
The man had a long, deep, indented gash along one side of his head. It was what had first caught my attention. But curiously, for that type of wound, it didnβt seem to be bleeding much.
But he was calm and coherent, and answered my questions well. No other injuries immediately detectable. I quickly determined that he could wait, for the moment. I crawled back to check on her.
The overturned ceiling was covered in broken glass. In the reflected flashing from outside of the rotating red lights, I could see the blood among its shattered pieces. Or maybe it was the lights.
She was in worse shape. Scared and in pain, the end of a broken femur sticking out through the skin. Sheβd been tossed around some. Close to panic. Bleeding pretty well.
Stick to the basics. Use compression and bandages to try to slo

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.

Everything was perfect when Beltane was little.
She was our only child, and the only one I ever wanted. She was my little sous-chef, happily cooking and baking away with me for hours, so long as I let her lick the spoon. I was her favorite playmate; she was my favorite cuddlebug. She loved Marcβher fatherβand I unconditionally, unwavering in a way Iβd never known. She was my little angel, my little Belly.
Then, she turned 14.
Iβd, of course, been warned by other parents about the horrors of adolescence. Theyβd grit their teeth and clench the stem of their wine glasses a little tighter as they recounted their cautionary tales, ones of perpetual backtalk, defiance, sneaking out, boys.
Back then Iβd just smile and nod along, but Iβd never listen.
Back then I thought, never my little Belly.
In retrospect, listening probably wouldnβt have done me any good anyway. What happened to Beltaneβwhat she went through, what she *becameβ*was horrific beyond anything my husband and I couldβve possibly imagined.
We opted to homeschool Beltane from a young ageβbecause of her exceptional intelligence, but also because we feared outside influence in her development. She was always a bit naΓ―ve, impressionableβ¦ and we couldnβt possibly vet her teachers or her peers thoroughly enough. We feared she could become corrupted in some way, that our little girl would be taken from us.
She never fought with us about her educational arrangements, but we did try our best to facilitate social opportunities for her. Especially as she got older and saw that the kids on TV werenβt best friends with their parents.
Thatβs why we decided to send her to camp the year she turned 14.
It was only a week-long affair, and the brochures were full of bright, sunny days and even brighter smiles. I must admit that it was really Marcβs ideaβthe thought of letting my daughter go, if only for seven days, was almost too much to endure.
I finally agreed, and the excitement flickering in Beltaneβs eyes reassured me it was the rightβalbeit uncomfortableβthing to do. I swallowed my concerns, refusing to go back on my word, even when the date of her camping session arrived. Each day without my little girl dragged on until it was finally time to pick her up.
The first signs of something wrong with Beltane came almost immediately.
As soon as she entered the car, she was acting secretive. I could tell she was hiding somethingβ¦ and she was. It didnβt take long for me to notice a streak of vibrant
