My photoshop cs2 was glitchy so I uninstalled and was planning to reinstall but the bookedmarked page where I originally downloaded it from was gone instead I was sent to the adobe help center. Did I just make a huge mistake by uninstalling?

A couple of years back, Adobe released CS2 as free to download. Then... they pulled the link and serial, because I guess they wanted to push Creative Cloud harder. Anyways here's my copy that I saved. I have it pinned on a couple of servers.

Adobe have released Photoshop CS2 as freeware which can be found here (registration required).
I had Photoshop Elements 10 on an older device and now have Photoshop CS2 on my current PC. But something about selecting is making problems for me. On PE 10 there was (apart from the wand, the square and circle selection and the lasso) a tool that allowed for selecting parts/or objects with a brush (moving a circle that creates a selected area), similar to drawing a line or something like that. But on Photoshop CS2 I can only find the square/circle selection, the wand and the lasso. Isn't there anything that allows for easy selection like that?
I'm using Photoshop CS2 on my 64 bit version of windows 7 pc, and I have 16 GB of ram, but photoshop is only seeing 2786MB. I have the memory usage slider turned to 100% but it's still not enough ram for photomerge. How do I allocate more ram to it?
If I wanted to lower the focus of an image and put it into the background, how would I go about doing that? An example would be the disaster girl meme where the focus is on her but everything else in the background is out of focus.
Edit: I was looking around and someone posted something about the Depth of Field being used on a person. Basically that, if anyone has tips for how to do it on CS2, that would be great.
I opened the Preferences window in MyPaint, and the Devices menu in that window does not list my wacom intuos graphics tablet. The hardware compatibility page says that all wacom intuos tablets should work, so I'm not sure what's going wrong.
Everything is presented here and in the album. The album works well for "blinking" between images.

RGB Stack: The individual RGB files were imported into Ps from their native .fit format using FITS-Liberator. Histogram adjustment was performed on each file during this import: Stretch function ArcSinh(ArcSinh(x)). The files were then merged into this rgb image.

Blue & Green Curves: A curves adjustment brings up the relatively dimmer blue and green channels. The red channel is not adjusted. IMAGE

Blue Levels: The blue channel is brought down to even levels with the red using a simple black point and gamma adjustment. IMAGE

HLVG & NR: Green channel adjusted with "Hasta La Vista Green" plug-in. This method conserves the moderating effect the green has on the Red and Blue channels within the nebulae while eliminating it where it's by itself. Two iterations of "Deep Space Noise Reduction" (Carboni's Actions) smoothed out much of the noise. IMAGE

Hydrogen-alpha Sharpening: Moderate sharpening using the "Smart Sharpen" filter masked to just the structural areas of the nebulae bring out detail. This layer is overlain with only 50% opacity to moderate its harshness. IMAGE

Hydrogen-alpha Colorized: Applying red color to the H-a data with the Hue/saturation adjustment; Hue=0, Saturation=100, Lightness= -34. Further adjustment of the channel achieved with a curves adjustment to increase the visibility of the nebulae. IMAGE

Hydrogen-alpha overlay onto RGB: The H-a data layer is set to blending option "Lighten" which allows the RGB data to show through. IMAGE

NGC 2024 Adjustment: The somewhat overwhelming H-a data needed a little taming on the "Flame". A "Selective Color" adjustment for just "Neutrals" was performed: Cyan=0%, Magenta= -14%, Yellow= +11%, Black=0% This adjustment is masked to just ngc 2024. I know I can run the program, but does anybody know how it would be?
CS2 is the one free version of full Photoshop offered, so I wanted to give it a shot so as to avoid spending $10/month for Photoshop CC if possible.
Is the UI too small? Does it have pen support? I assume no touch support?
I tried looking up these answers on my own, but CS2 is such an old version that my searches came up empty.
When I try and load my CR2 files into Photoshop CS2, I get the message, "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." What am I doing wrong?
Note: the RAW images I shot were from my Canon 60D, if that helps at all.
