A list of puns related to "Parallel And Cross Cousins"
Help! I'm taking my first upper level anthropology class (and only my second ever anthropology class in general) and the ethnography we're reading is talking about cross-cousin and parallel cousins, but I have no idea what that means. Looked it up and I STILL can't understand it. Thought about posting this in r/explainlikeimfive, but figured I'd be more likely to find someone who could help me here. Thankyouthankyouthankyou.

Long story short tribal and clan loyalties have existed since the dawn of time and manifest themselves in certain ways. In muslim societies cousin marriage is seen as a way of keeping wealth and land within the family while proving ones commitment to the survival of the clan.
Similarly in hindu societies marrying within ones caste and discrimination against people outside ones own caste is seen as a way of proving tribal loyalties, keeping accumulated wealth within the tribe while simultaneously advancing the tribe at the cost of other tribes who are veiwed as the "competition" in the grand evolutionary scheme of things.
Now during the cave man days tribal loyalties mightve been a good thing, they mightve helped us distinguish friends from foes and helped us pass on our genes by making sure that resources were kept within the tribe best as possible while keeping gjem out of the hands of the competition which would be the surrounding tribes or clans.
But in the modern era we dont live in tribes anymore we live in nation states. But as long as the institutions of tribalism and clan loyalties remain people will use and abuse them. We can see this in the nepotisim, communal tensions and dynastic politics rampant across south asia.
Now what this eventually leads to is a weak and incompetent central government that is incapable of actually enacting reasonable policy goals. Due to a multitude of reasons (most of them rooted in inherent tribalistic mindsets of the people).
When peoples primary loyalties are to their tribe and clan rather than themselves or the society as a whole, the role of the government becomes diminished because the tribe acts as a substitute for the authority that would normally be provided by the rule of law and governmental institutions.
Thus you end up with weak government and weak institutions. These institutions can not provide for their constituents or citizens so the citizens turn towards the local clan structures for support and the institutions loose even more authority and its a CYCLE.
Europe during the middle ages was also a tribalistic and collectivist (in the tribal loyalties sense) society, similar to what we have in south asia today.
If you look at paper trails and documents from the past people used to identy themselves by their tribal or clan names in europe until the catholic church banned all cousin m

I'm not looking for the so-called parallels of the dying and rising gods that do so cyclically, but rather a human hero that dies in a publicly shameful way. Whether the hero rises from the dead or not is secondary, but could be important. I'm wondering if there were other ancient heroes who died a one-time (not cyclical), shameful death and are, nevertheless, remembered as heroes.
Socrates drinks hemlock, but that would not have been considered shameful, would it?
Hi,
I have 6 Layer Board with the following stack-up:
At the upper part of the board I have USB3.1 Gen 1 USB Signals (upper rectangle), and below I have PCIe Gen 3 Signals (lower rectangle).
at the upper rectangle I have USB 3.1 Gen1 Signals for one port on layer 3 (Green) and on layer 4 (Red) I have USB 3.1 Gen1 signals for second port.

I need to check if I can have a cross talk issue between layer 3 and 4 considering the upper rectangle. although the signals (Green & Red) are not one above the other exactly but being that close could be a reason for EMI issues.
The question how bad can it be? should I enlarge the board and make more room for spacing between the two signal groups which are on different layers?
What about Cross-Talk issues in other areas on board?
Update: After considering the answers that have been given, I figured out that it would be very hard to try to separate the one pair from the other much further since the board is so dense:
instead, I thought of moving one USB 3.1 Port to the top layer, since there is enough place to route it:

that way, USB 3.1 Signals on top layer will couple to the nearest GND on layer 2, and no interference will be between layer 2 and 3.

Which one is easier for most people?
When I was 8, I was in a car accident and I believe I died. There was this sound, a note, playing nonstop. It's similar to the sound of the machine when you flatline but it was more instrumental. I've never forgotten and when I ask my family they said we were in an accident, just not in the place I remember. Is it possible to die and crossover to an alternate parallel world? That sound though, it felt like it was telling me to let go but I could not...
Iβve been researching it for a while and found nothing, help would really be appreciated as they both sound like the same thing.
Itβs like discovering Santa Claus isnβt real. You realize itβs all not real and you just canβt bring yourself to ever truly believing in Santa Claus like you did before. Since you know now it is physically not possible and just a story.
This really rung true to me when I discovered all the lies and omissions perpetuated by the church. I can never just ever truly believe again. Never.
Iβm so grateful for this sub, it has really been my therapy in my exit of this fucking cult. <3
My wife and I just had a new baby boy back in July. We are not pet owners as I have terrible allergies to pet fur, dander, and saliva. I sneeze, break out in mild hives - the works. Because of this, our home is pet free, and we keep air purifiers/central air filters to vent, filter and circulate our home air. It's worked great, and my allergies are virtually non-existent in our home. Our baby was also introduced into this environment and at the advice of his pediatrician, we have not introduced any animals to keep baby safe from allergens.
My cousin and his girlfriend stopped by to visit our home, and brought their 1 year old Pitbull/mastiff along. He's a handsome pup, but hard to handle as he's like a bull in a china shop. They currently have him enrolled in behavior classes to train him. He is no where near ready to be around a baby and I definitely was not happy when they showed up with the dog and asked if he could come inside the home. I politely asked that he be taken around back in to the backyard. they stayed outside with him. He did manage to get into the front entrance of our house and knocked over a stool before I asked that he be taken around back.
I love my cousin, him and I are close in age and have had tons of fun together. In most cases, I'm okay with the dog outdoors as I don't get too close, I'll even play fetch and stuff, so I'm not a dog hater. But my house is too close for comfort. I now feel an emotional rift wedged between my cousin and I, which sucks... but this is my child and my home.
I wonder, what is the etiquette/code of conduct for bringing one's dog into a non-dog home? They didn't even ask or notify us that the dog is coming along, and I have asked pre-emptively in prior visits for them to not bring the dog, did they suddenly get hit with amnesia? I felt I was being guilt-tripped to let the dog in when they did bring him this time around.
Random funny thought I had after catching up on this season of DC's Doom Patrol. Cliff Steele/Robotman is pretty much TommyInnit as a trashy middle-aged American. And now I can't unhear it my mind.
Granted, I do think Tommy is smarter.
Title says it all. My friend mentioned it might be in a Cloverfield movie? I canβt find any evidence that it is. My original guess was This Is The End, but no luck there. This movie came out in the last 10 years

If you have any questions regarding any of the pens, do let me know!
I'd also be interested in trading, if you have Noodler's or TWSBI pens lying around.
