I wonder what it’s like to be EVE Online community manager now.

I mean, probably they have to check social platforms, Reddit included.

Imagine, internal CCP meeting and devs(DEV) say: β€œwe are going to end scarcity, double ores, introduce new interesting mechanics and revive mining/industry. Community manager(CM), go check, how grateful our players”

CM goes on Reddit and see β€œshit, stop, CCPlease, don’t! etc” Probably he plays on anonymous account and thinks β€œI know that it’s shit, but I can’t say that. β€œ

Another meeting. CM: β€œI can’t say players are grateful for changes” DEV:”Like not grateful at all?!??” CM:” More like the opposite side of that word” Some particular Dev: β€œ They just don’t understand changes and how happy should they be, I’ll go explain them”

A bit later that Dev to players:” Guys… Guys… Guys!… Guys!!!” (c)

Next day - JITA Riot.

Buenas! Estoy buscando recomendaciones para hacer un curso (no carrera) de marketing digital/community manager (manejo de redes sociales) para capacitarme en mi laburo. Greetings all! I’m Donna β€œDanicia” Prior, the new Community Manager Team Lead at En Masse Entertainment. A few things before we begin!

*I am still learning the game, so if you have suggestions, tech issues, or bug reports, just hit up the forums in the usual places or contact Support.

*I don’t have access to your account, so I cannot answer any questions related to billing and all.

*I cannot answer any specific questions about the game, other than my own experiences jumping in as a newbie.

With that said, let’s do this! I’ll be checking the thread throughout the day, so if you don’t see me respond right away, I’m probably in a meeting.

Cheers! Donna

I'm Sean Gibbons, aka Spacecats, the new TERA Online Community Manager - AMA!

HELLO! I’m Sean Gibbons, aka Spacecats, the new Community Manager for TERA Online at En Masse Entertainment! Ask me anything you want, but read these words first:

  • The main purpose of this AMA is for you to get to know me and vice versa. Non-TERA questions are totally fine. Just keep in mind that I’m not here to announce any new game features and I can’t talk about features or updates that haven’t been announced by EME yet.

  • If you’re looking for in-depth reasons for why an existing change or feature happened the way it did, save your question for TERA Senior Producer Denommenator. We’ll have him on Twitch again in the near future for another live Q&A.

  • I have some TERA experience, but still learning. I play every single day. I want to be the best there ever was, but I’m not there yet so gimme a break. Hey thanks.

  • I made an intro thread in the TERA forums. It has photos, random facts about me, and a little bit about the tasks I’ll be performing as the TERA Community Manager (like streaming, in-game events, and talking to players to get their feedback.)

That’s it. Leave your questions for me and I’ll begin answering them once this thread is 1 hour old (11:00 AM Pacific Time). I’ll edit this post with updates as the day rolls on.

Special thanks to Spaghetticatt for his help during the AMA.

Proof that I exist.

EDIT - To all those who contributed to this AMA, THANK YOU! I've gotten many warm welcomes in my first couple weeks. I look forward to having a lot of fun with you all. If any of you have questions or comments (or you just want to chat) in the future, feel free to message me either here or on the official TERA forums.

The last patch completely broke the game for me and others. I can't buy a car, tune a car, take a picture, etc without restarting the game all together. I hate to be that guy but I remember when a game just...worked. if they are planning on being a semi live service game then they need to have someone who is active with the community. Just to say hey we found the problem, working on it or looking into it will keep you all posted. The game is a blast when it works and it's okay to expect better.

Online tool to help startup founders and community managers generate quality social media posts

I know a lot of tools exist in this sector. Canva, Ripl, Buffer, Hootsuite, to name a few.But I don't feel like the pain of creating content for social media is completely releaved yet. I also think there is too much focus on posting just for the sake of it, which affects the value given to the audience.

Some problems I think of:

  1. You still need tons of inspiration & creativity to know what to post. Not just sharing a trending news article...
  2. Despite these tools, designing & formatting content still takes a lot of time
  3. Scheduling and managing a content calendar remains a pain as well as you cannot do it in bulk.

To solve these I thought of a SaaS tool that would:

  1. Suggest you what type of post, captions, call-to-actions, hashtags and images use in your post based on your business's niche and experts' techniques
  2. Generate social media posts based on a curated template library, your brandkit and your design preferences
  3. Allow you to schedule multiple posts at once on several social media platforms

Questions to you guys:

  1. What do you think of this idea?
  2. What similar tools do you know come closest to this?
  3. How much per month would you be willing to pay for something like this?

Thanks in advance for your input & feedback.
