A list of puns related to "Oenomaus"
Oenomaus was a great gladiator and it shows several times throughout the series. So why then was he never put back into the arena? When he's promoted to doctore it seemed to be more of a whim because batiatus was pissed at the previous doctore. So unless I misinterpreted that scene, do you think batiatus ever had plans to fight him again?
How would the outcome have been, I mean, Oenomaus was already pretty strong back when fighting Theokoles, but with the Experience as Doctore, would the outcome have been diffrent ?
I always questioned that.
Oenomaus is the only fighter that, alone, survive to the probably best Gladiator in entire series. In God Of Arena he kicks Barca's ass in a easy way (and Barca is one of the bests gladiators in the ludo, behind only Gannicus, Spartacus, Crixus and maybe Auctus).
In Blood and Sand, in training Crixus and Spartacus couldn't beat him fighting alone. Of course training is very different from fight (for example: Maybe Anderson Silva can't fight in UFC anymore because of his age and physical, but i'm pretty sure he can win new fighters in sparring).
In Vengance, in chains, he show really good moviments against Gannicus.
Don't get me wrong, of course he is a wonderful doctore (and that's a place of great honor), but you don't think that...Could this wait a while? Titus didn't like the old doctore old-fashioned way but i dont think Oenomaus is different in that way.
Let me know what you think!
(Sorry for bad english, I am learning it :P
"We'll greet you there , my brother"
First time watching it , i almost cried.
Oenomaus forgave his brother. And at the last episode Gannicus' flashback : (
We all know that both Oenomaus and Gannicus are amazing fighters, each with different skill sets. Gannicus won his fight in the marketplace blindfolded. Do you think Oenomaus would have fared the same?
In this series, I'm going to rank the top 5 or so feats of the top fighters in the series. I'll start with the trainer of gods, Oenomaus!
His fight with Ulpius. https://youtu.be/2zISv5VMYbs?t=28 As a former Champion of Capua and long-time Doctore, Ulpius was a accomplished, experienced, and very knowledgeable fighter and the fact Oenomaus beat him despite holding back for most the fight is a testament to his skill.
His first fight with the Egyptian. https://youtu.be/FqOZ37lJzj0?t=3 Despite just recovering from a fighting marathon in the pit, being starved and tortured for days, and being forced to fight in the arena, Oenomaus was able to put up a better fight against the Egyptian than a fresh Crixus and initially a fresh Gannicus.
His fight with Crixus and Spartacus. https://youtu.be/uH67_F3DRBg?t=123 In preparation for the Shadow Games, Oenomaus served as a stand-in for Theokoles for Crixus and Spartacus to learn how to fight as a unit, and Oenomaus beat the piss out of them. Going as far to flip a prime Crixus and a pre-prime Spartacus simultaneously.
His arena battle with Gannicus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbiV3OU7yW0 Despite going threw what I described in the fourth slot, Oenomaus was able to press and even knock down Gannicus while cuffed and with a dull blade. While Gannicus was holding back a bit due to his guilt over being confronted by his betrayal of Oenomaus, he typically beats better conditioned fighters barley trying, so it was still impressive.
1.His battle with Theokoles. Without a doubt, this is number 1. Single-handedly lasting longer against Theokoles than anyone.
In the B&S episode Shadow Games, Oenomaus offers to face Theokoles again over Crixus and Spartacus, say this would've happened what do you think would've happened in the rematch?

I'm rank 8, my gladiators are all about level 70. I've challenged both of them and can't even get them into their second wind. Should i wait until i get to their levels which are at 200?
sine missione - no quarter given, no mercy shown who would win? The show has often teased us, but I ask you. Who do you believe to be the true champion of Capua?
I'm on my fourth watch through of this series and I noticed Oenomaus' brand is backwards. Is there any purpose on that or what??
I am completely led to believe 1 of 2 things, he has brass knuckles on or he basically just bare knuckled open the Egyptians stomach. He then followed up with "I owe you pain" in complete bad ass fashion. I really wish the outcome was different in that match up.
To see the Egyptian go was pleasant although it was nice seeing the gladiators with a legit challenger again.
Do your worst!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
Turn on any episode of Spartacus and you'll know what to expect; graphic violence and raunchy sex done with more gore, brutality and explicitness than anything else that we've ever seen on television. It is one of the most distinctive shows because of this alone, and easily one of my favorites of all time. But over the course of its run, with the 4 installment the series has offered us (Blood and Sand; Gods of the Arena; Vengeance; War of the Damned), even I must admit Spartacus is quite a mixed bag. A series that was destined for great and unfortunate things, both on and off screen, from the very start, just as proposed for our main character himself.
Spartacus is about the icon himself, the Thracian gladiator who was the leader of the slave rebellion against the Roman Republic in The Third Serville War. So, you know where this story is heading from the get-go, but Spartacus isn't a series that's overly concerned with history, or getting it right, and that is a good thing here because it is guilt-free in forming its own story from the scraps of history that was passed down to us. This is just as much a series about the slave rebellion as it is about being a gladiator, as it is about the Roman higher ups maneuvering their way to power and glory, as it is about avenging the death of lost love ones. And for a series as hardcore as Spartacus is, you might be surprised how much of a driving factor romance is for all these characters and their cause.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand premiered January 22, 2010. And it wasn't the most attractive thing at first. The first episode shows our hero in his homeland of Thrace, on the brink of being betrayed and enslaved by the Roman army, and his wife taken from him by them to suffer the same fate. It is interesting plot-wise but visually the series comes off as a poorly done rip-off of 300 (2006). The CGI blood that splashes onto screen as if paint will be jarring at first, which was most likely a result of very low budgeting (maybe), but the series is able to forge that into its own comic book-esque style. And visually, the series improves a lot by the 2nd episode once it is stationed in Batiatus' Ludus, where most of the res

We haven't gotten many scenes of Varro fighting however I remember in the initial part of season 1 varro trained with a prime crixus and although it was a very short scene (I think they showed him training with crixus twice) I know I may be looking too deep into it but crixus absolutely violated duro during their fight but you never really seen Varro banged up after the training. His skills could only have improved as time went on. What do you think?
I won't count the blow he landed on Spartacus because I don't think Spartacus went all out in that fight

This takes place on Istvaan when the traitor legions purge their ranks of those they think won't follow them. This is a very short book (14 pages I think) but it's a real treat to read and it's refreshing to see Angron before his successive mental deterioration due to the nails.
(...) The officerβs remaining eye is narrowed by the preternatural focus necessary to remain alive, without screaming, when your intestines have been torn from your body.
He should not be alive, and yet here he is, lifting a bolter.
Angron smiles at the manβs beautiful defiance and slaps the gun aside with the flat of his still revving axe.
βNo,β he says, savagely kind. This warrior and his doomed brethren fought well, and their father is careful to offer no humiliation in these last moments.
His other sons, those loyal to him, are chanting his name, shouting it through the ruins. They chant the name his slave-handlers gave to him when he was Lord of the Red Sands. Angron. Angron. Angron. He does not know what name the Emperor had intended for him. He never cared enough to ask, and now the chance to do so is denied to him forever.
βLord.β The dying centurion speaks.
Angron crouches by his son, ignoring the nosebleed trickling down his lips as the Butcherβs Nails tick, tick, tick in the back of his brain.
βI am here, Kauragar.β
The World Eater draws in a shivery breath, surely one of his last. His remaining eye seeks his primarchβs face.
βThat wound at your throat,β Kauragarβs words come with blood bubbling at his lips. βThat was me.β
Angron touches his own neck. His fingers come away wet, and he smiles for the first time in weeks.
βYou fought well.β The primarchβs low tones are almost tectonic. βAll of you did.β
βNot well enough.β The centurion bares blood-darkened teeth in a rictus grin. βTell me why, father. Why stand with the Arch traitor?β
Angronβs smile fades, wiped clean by his sonβs ignorance. None of them have ever understood. They were always so convinced that he should have been honoured by being given a Legion, when the life he chose was stolen from him the day the Imperium tore him away from his true brothers and sisters.
βI do not stand with Horus.β Angron breathes the confession. βI stand against the Emperor. Do you understand, Kauragar? I am free now. Free. Can you not understand that? Why have you all spent these last decades telling me I should feel honoured to live as a slave, when I was so close to dying free?β
