As a high school junior with a deep passion for learning, I recently decided to apply for the Distance Learning course at the Accademia Vivarium Novum.
As I only recently found the Accademia, I was only able to submit the application today.
However, I did not get an automated response as they said I would, and was wondering if I applied too late.
I did try to search up if there was a deadline, but I was unable to find any.
Does anyone know if there is a deadline by which the application must be submitted?
Also, on a side note, because I already took a few years of Latin, I signed up for Latin 2 module, and I'm wondering if this is ok.
They did say that the Latin 2 module was supposed to be for people who completed the Latin 1 module, but I didn't think that this was a requirement.
Any advice would be appreciated!
I was curious about this grammar rule.
I noticed that in taxonomy sometimes a species classified in New York will be named noveboracensis (see Parathelypteris noveboracensis, or New York fern). Is this grammatically correct? I know taxonomy is based on a somewhat modernized form of Latin, but does this exist outside of science Latin? Could I also maybe say Novum Eboracensis?

Chapter 4
Only 1 more day to go before we reach our research location, it will be the first time I will see the ocean from up close.
Jack, Charles and me are currently driving in a large…camper is what I think these are called.
Its 8 meters long with in the back half the lab equipment and the toilet, and the front half for living and steering.
The camper is constantly filled with the noise of shaking items in the closets and drawers as we ride over the ever uneven landscape, while music is being played through a couple of speakers fixed in the front.
Jack is currently steering and looks a bit tired and at me ,and is talking!
“David David” He says agitated or just tired from the driving.
“uh yeah what did you say?”
“I asked if this is your first job as a geologist or did you do something before?”
“This is my second actually I’ve worked for 2 years at the borderlands of the capital.”
“Ah you were one of those, checking if the ground had anything worth mining or if they would just hollow it out for houses.”
“Yeah it’s not the most glamorous work but someone got to do it”.
“I did that too for a few years until I got a job on the surface to examen anomaly’s” Jack says keeping his eyes towards where he’s heading.
“hey did you know this place was baren before”.
“Baren, what do you call this then?” Jack waves his hand at the frozen wastes he is currently driving through.
“Okay baren might not be the correct word but what I mean is that this place wasn’t covered in snow before.
Around 150 years ago was this place just not freezing during the summers. For so many years that in the summers large areas were just no longer covered in snow anymore.” I say trying to recall what I had read years ago.
“Well that must have been nice not having to were those bulky suits, but what happened 150 years ago that it got so warm that everything melted?” Jack says getting a bit more pep in his voice.
“It’s more what happened before, a slow change in the atmosphere due to gases released by machines. And that caused the planet to hold more warmth.

Chapter 3
After a good night sleep and a morning plak, and find my way back to the docks.
There I find the lounge at my ship, its already filling with people from all kinds of life.
An elderly man is sitting hunched over in a chair, looking like he isn’t fully awake yet.
Another man is browsing on his phone, he has the size of a Martian and misses half of his right ear.
In the corner stands a spaceborn woman with a snaggletooth looking at the crowd of about 50 people.
I sit down, place my helmet on my lap and mess around on my phone for a while until the intercom calls out that I can board my rocket.
However once I enter it I notice that it’s not a rocket, it’s a supply-pod.
So that means it can only land not lift off, in other words we won’t be able to go back with this thing.
And not just that, it’s only made to be used once and I’m not entirely sure if that makes it safer or more dangerous, although I’m leaning to the later.
To make matters worse it doesn’t have any windows, the chairs, lamps and a battery are welded to the floor and ceiling by hand.
This is clearly a vehicle only made for cargo, turned into a makeshift passenger ship, but why, I’ve never seen the government do something like this, why not just use a rocket?
Were ordered by a flight attendant to place our suitcase in a chamber in the middle of the supply-pod surrounded by chairs.
Everyone instinctively sits down buckles the belts up and put their helmets on, something that normally has to be asked specifically before launch.
The attendant goes around and checks everyone’s seatbelt like this is some sort of amusement park ride.
“Ladies and gentlemen” the attendant starts “please remain seated during the flight and keep your helmet on.”
“The flight will take an estimated 2 hours during this time will I not be able to enter this cabin, soooo good luck.”
