A list of puns related to "Nisio Isin"
Curious to know whether it's gonna be all monogatari or not lol
My personal favourite is ii from Zaregoto because of how layered he is and his character journey. There's a lot more that makes him amazing but that's the quickest way to sum it up
Recently I saw in an interview that Nisio wrote Monogatari both as a hobby and also to have no regrets before dying, but what does he mean with that?
Honestly, people don't watch this show only because it has "bishounen" in its title even though it's from one of the most acclaimed light novel authors of our time. Not seeing people recommend it let alone putting it in the must see category of this season is utter nonsense.
If you liked the Monogatari Series there's a good chance you will like this too regardless of your gender.
Yes I know. One would immediately see a title with the name of "Pretty Boy Detective Club" and instantly react in some manner or another (disinterest being the most likely polite one).
But this is again adapting a Nisio Isin work by Studio SHAFT, the talent behind the Monogatari series of course. So you can automatically expect a super stylized visual aesthetic (with top-tier visual production values) and of course Nisio Isin's unique narration and storytelling.
And the vocal talent has also been acquired too with the female and male MC's being voiced by Maaya Sakamoto and Ayumu Murase respectively.
No guarantees you'll enjoy it of course, but just fyi in case you were only thinking of passing it up due to the name. At the very least you'll definitely get a visual treat out of this one.
Hi !
Almost two years after the previous thread, it's time for the Final Season afterwords !
As you probably know, before being adapted into an anime, the Monogatari Series is a light novel series written by the talented Nisio Isin. At the end of each novel, there is an "afterword" section where Nisio shares some thoughts about the novel. It's one of the very rare occasions where we can actually get some insight about his writing process and philosophy directly, rather than by him talking through his characters, so I thought it would be nice to gather them all into one post !
Although I say one post, they're long enough for the Reddit character limit to bother me, so I divided them into each season :
First Season β’ Second Season β’ Final Season β’ Off Season β’ Monster Season β’ Mazemonogatari
13 - Tsukimonogatari
They say that "he who laughs last, laughs best," but to me that just seems to mean "never laugh, because you won't be last." And they say that "fortune favors a home filled with laughter," but the road home can be paved with misfortune for those who laugh before they get there. They also say, "demons laugh when we plan for the future," but those demons aren't necessarily the ones laughing last, and they themselves are often laughed at for their own lack of foresight. "He who laughs at a penny will someday cry over one"? Seems like that just amounts to "he who laughs first cries in the end." What the hell is my point, you ask? It's that whether we're talking about an individual life or the entire world, ultimately we don't know how things are going to shake out. Stability, unending peace and quiet, unending hell, these things are all pretty untenable, as it turns out. Then again, there's no guarantee that the duration of "unending" won't be longer than a human life. We don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, and we don't know what's not going to happen tomorrow. Yesterday's pleasure causes today's hell, and today's hell produces tomorrow's heaven. That just keeps on happening, doesn't it? When is last, anyway? "All's well that ends well," that's like saying the result is all that matters. The proverb is hardly funny.

I just want to finish those books but months after months I'm slowly losing hope.
Read the title. Any idea?

Points in common between Arakiβs and Nisioβs works
Interviewer: So apparently, Araki-sensei made his debut in the same year that Nisio-san was born.
Nisio: I was born in 1981.
Araki: I made my debut in the 1981 New Yearβs issue [of Weekly Shounen Jump].
Nisio: It feels like fateβ¦if you can call it that, haha.
Araki: Thatβs amazing. At 24, youβve already written so much in 4 or 5 years.
Nisio: Iβm not sure how long I can keep writing, but for now Iβll keep writing as much as I can. Iβm on my 15th book now.
Interviewer: Araki-sensei, did everything go smoothly after you debuted?
Araki: Not at all, it feels like I only started polishing my skills after I debuted. They let me debut before I had any style or originality as a manga artist. I had to learn a lot then, and it wasnβt until Jojoβs Bizarre Adventures that I really got started.
Nisio: I also loved your manga before Jojo, like Mahou Shounen Biitii, Gorgeous Irene, and Baoo Raihousha. Your manga all feel like my roots, thereβs so much Iβve learned from them.
Araki: Oh yes, your novels do seem to have some points in common. Iβve started reading from Kubikiri Cycle [first book of Zaregoto Series] and havenβt read your latest books, but your characters all seem modern. It might also because a lot of them are geniuses, but they all think theyβre superior and donβt respect others. It was interesting how the main character tries to confront those geniuses despite feeling inferior.
Their dialogue sounds like advertising slogans. I like that. Like those lines at the beginning of each chapter. The main character keeps banging out lines like that. That was very fresh and interesting.
Nisio: Thank you. My hands are trembling. Iβm so happy that youβve read my books.
I think Jojo is a wonderful manga, and I wish I could have all of humanity read it. Itβs so good that it makes me want to recommend it to other peopleβ¦somehow it feels like I have to go out of my way to say how much I like it.
Making characters seem powerful using powerful lines
Nisio: Earlier you said that I write lines like advertising slogans, but I think thatβs partly because of your influence. Itβs more tha
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm currently watching the Monogatari series and I love it, all I have left are Zuko Owarimonogatari episodes. I was wondering if anyone recommends any of the other anime adaptations of Nisio Isinβs stories? Iβve already seen Juni Taisen: Zodiac War.
When is his exact birthday?
We have some homework about reviewing our favorite author and doing some introduction. I couldn't find it on google. I could just write the year and state that the date is uknown but maybe someone knows it?
Was it ever stated and confirmed that all of Nisio Isin's stories (Zaregoto, Juuni Taisen, Monogatari, Katanagatari, Medaka Box,...) take place in one and the same universe? Or at least some of them?
I've never watched the Monogatari series but I'd love to hear about all the hidden gems and learn more about the Japanese language. One of the reasons I love Chihayafuru so much is because the poems in karuta have a ton of puns that are lost in English but are really rewarding to learn about. I hope Joey can find a good way of explaining everything. Anyone else really want to see this potential video?

I've been reading monogatari, and noticed how he is able to fill his characters with so much emotion in their dialogue, I am just wondering how he is able to achieve this?
Recently been reading Zaregoto and Monogatari and I absolutely love the authors absurdist style. Anyone one know any other writers (light novel, web novel, or novel) that are similar or evoke the same type of writing style as Nisio Isin.
This is a bit of a crosspost but I am still asking a similar question. Can anyone explain to me the underlying themes of Nisioisin stories?
