A list of puns related to "Network Interface"
I'm mostly just salty that I have to run ethernet across the house, but at the same time, I have $50 raspberry pis with 5ghz wifi. There's no audio data going over the network - It's mostly just midi/osc commands from m32-mix and m32-edit, which are going over wifi from my tablet/laptop anyway. It doesn't strike me as a bandwidth problem.
Any thoughts?
I just resolved a really annoying client-server connectivity issue and found the client had two NICs running. Disabling one fixed the issue. So I have to assume both running were causing some sort of conflict or confusing response to the computer.
When a computer has two NICs on two different subnets, with different gateways, how does it decide which one to send traffic out of if I request a destination outside of both subnets? Does it just try both until it gets a response?
I have a problem on my hands. My line of work means many employees stay at the job site and get to use the wifi. Is a VPN like mullvad, set up directly to the source router plugged into the modern directly, enough to stop us from having copyright problems should one of them try to download a tracked movie? Would getting a router configured for vpn use help and if so, which one? If not, how do I protect myself in a manner where they can use the wifi but can't do some dumb shit causing us to lose our precious starlink up in the mountains? They don't necessarily need to have the option to download stuff but I'd be ok with it if it's secure. And from OPs post it seems like the only safe play is for every device to use a specific client program # programmed to port forward etc but I absolutely cannot rely on them to do that. We had over 100 employees come and go last year and expecting them to care is impossible. I just need a VPN that can handle 100-200mbps without lag issues, we mostly just stream movies etc anyways and need enough upload speed for 50+ cameras at 720p. Having a device like a router that is the final stop would be ideal I assume? Also maybe only having one free port for peer to peer while blocking the rest might work on a router? Thanks for the help!!
(I'm playing Project Ozone 3, just in case that matters...)
So in this video (around the 7:40 mark) he shows a cube of assemblers/interface modules. I've created the same thing, but unlike what he says in the video, I am NOT able to run only one cable. I'm using ENDER IO Dense conduit but have also tried the Dense cable from AE2. I have the cable coming directly from the ME controller build ( has something like 20 controllers )
I spent some time just wrapping cables around the whole thing lol and at some point it actually did show all 14 interfaces. Obviously not ideal. So what am I doing wrong? Was something changed with the mod?
EDIT: Forgot to mention I also tried going into creative mode and filled up the room with crafting cpus, crafting storage, and quadrupled the size of the ME controller build. I was trying to narrow down the issue. but nothing seems to work :(
EDIT 2: I just severed everything on the network except for this cube and an Interface Terminal. Still only 8 interfaces continue to show (out of 14) :(
I would like to route Prowlarr through my VPN on my Windows 10 server. Similar to qBittorrent's ability to bind itself to a specific network interface, I was wondering how I can achieve the same behavior in Prowlarr, as there does not seem to be a native way to bind to a specific network interface within Prowlarr?
The VPN is running in Split-Tunnel mode (meaning I can select the applications that are routed through the VPN). I've added the Prowlarr .exe files to the list of applications to route though the VPN, however, prowlarr still seems to be using my main network interface (not the VPN network) to connect to indexers.
And yes, before anyone says, I know accessing indexers is not against the law, only the P2P aspect is. However, I don't live in a country that looks kindly upon P2P filesharing, and as such, would prefer to keep my access to indexers routed through my VPN.
Any suggestions welcome.
I'm trying to play TCP/IP network game using two PCs on my home network, however when I start the TCP/IP to host a game, Diablo application is selecting the wrong network interface... I have a bunch of virtual network interfaces on the laptop I want to host the game on and don't want to have to disable them all each time in order to make Diablo select the correct lan interface...
Is there any way to 'force' Diablo to choose a specific interface either in command-line options or through some configuration file?
I looked in the install directory and nothing there, the registry also seems to have nothing useful - there's a lastTcpIp setting, but I tried configuring that with my IP address and re-enabling my other NICs, but it still latched on to the first available NIC. Also, because I use WSL on my laptop, it creates a virtual NIC that cannot be disabled without actually removing WSL and disabling it completely, which is fairly annoying and not sustainable as I really like to have WSL on my Windows host.

Hi.
If your VPN is on but the qBittorrent network interface is set to "any", is there a risk, or will qBittorrent automatically go through your VPN network?
Happened to see some other posts about this where people received notices with qBittorrent active and their VPN on. I just changed to qBittorrent today, but thought it was just a kill switch rather than completely necessary to get qBittorrent to go through your VPN connection as I assumed that would be automatic.
I tested with ipleak.net and whether the network interface was set to "any" or "nordlynx", the torrent ip test for both seemed to be using my VPN's ip address.
I never previously had any problems with uTorrent, but want to make sure qBittorrent won't be less secure strictly in terms of isp detection.
Cheers for any info!
Setup:
I have two Shelly 1 devices. If a device is on the "main" (10.1.0.0) network, it's auto-discovered when going to Configuration->Devices and Services
. If a device is on the "IoT" network, it is not auto-discovered, but I can configure the device by directly entering it's IP, thus it is visible to HA.
In all cases the devices are visible using mDNS in the host. I'm not sure how to check mDNS in the container itself.
I'm using "host" network mode in Docker, so HA is seeing both interfaces.
I have 19 network interfaces on the output of ip a, which seems a bit much? I run a few containers on my RPi4 with Nginx Proxy Manager and is only accessible externally via wireguard VPN.
Is it best practice to bundle a few or all of them into one network or should they be kept seperate?
I run the following, and am the only user accessing them at home (or mobile externally):
Portainer (I manage the docker-compose stacks in here)
Miniflux (RSS)
Uptime Kuma (monitoring tool)
Vaultwarden (password management)
Dozzle (docker log viewer)
Flame Dashboard
Nginx Proxy Manager
I have also not needed to define any networks in other stacks for NPM to function either.
Hello,
I just reinstalled adguard home on my raspberrypi, normally it asked me for setting a static ip. But this time I had to do it manually..... What is changed this time?

When I started my Cox internet service, I realized that modem was not receiving a signal, so I pinpointed that the issue was with the network interface device on the outside of my houseβa signal was entering the device but there was no signal coming out of it. I checked with a Cox representative to make sure that I would not be charged for a technician visit since the problem was with Cox equipment, and she said that I will not be charged because fixing the NID was covered by my personal protection plan. When the technician arrived, I told him what the problem was and he said that they donβt even use that NID anymore so he replaced the NID as well as the cable coming from the utility pole to the NID. Sure enough, I checked my cox bill for the month, and it included a $100 charge for that technician visit. Were they correct to charge me for replacing the NID / should that service been covered by the personal protection plan?
Update: I called them back today after being stonewalled yesterday, and I let them know that I think I may have been wrongfully charged for the technician visit. The representative said that I shouldnβt have been charged since I have the βprotection planβ and removed the $100 fee from my bill. Thank you all for the comments and advice.
I've got a 25TB TrueNAS SCALE NAS box connected to my PC through Mellanox Infiniband ConnectX-3 cables. It works wonderfully and the speed is incredible. My problem is that the adapter doesn't automatically bring itself up and as a result all of my NFS mounts fail upon start-up. At present, right after login I have to run:
nmcli connection up ibp5s0d1
mount -a
I was just wondering if there's a way to script this or to manipulate the start-up behaviour so that the interface is up before the storage is mounted.
I realise the NetworkManager GUI includes options for bringing the connection up on start-up, however the settings don't persist and in general behave very differently through the GUI (I guess because it's IPoIB which is a bit hacky in its implementation.
Any help appreciated!
I am in the process of learning linux and was following along with this video.
https://youtu.be/A3G-3hp88mo - 15:33 - an overview of /etc
I am missing /etc/network/interfaces
ls -a /etc/network/
. .. if-down.d if-post-down.d if-pre-up.d if-up.d
Any idea why I am missing that file? I have a VM with Ubuntu 20.04 server on it as well and that machine is also missing /etc/network/interfaces
Any help much appreciated.
Does anyone know how I can set up qbittorrent to only use a specific network interface if it's running via docker? Only the eth0 and lo interfaces show up. If running outside of docker they all show up.
Edit: I ended up finding and using the transmission-openvpn docker to make it easier.
Hello,
Is it possible to bind qBittorrent to several network interfaces but not all of them?
I know I could choose a network interface in Settings β Advanced β Network Interface, the thing is I'd like to bind more than one but not all of them. Is there a way to do it?
Thank you.
Hey, I have a question about HA Kubernetes with RKE2 and Kube VIP. For my setup: I have two network interfaces for my VMs one is the High Bandwidth Network interface powered by a 100Gbit Mellanox Card connecting my three Proxmox nodes together and the other one is a simple 2.5 Gbit network for the whole company. Now I have the question if this company network is gonna slow down communication between nodes and pods because I created the cluster with an VIP in the company network? Should I try to use the High Bandwidth network for better performance or should i just leave it as it is? If I use the high bandwidth one how would I configure it? I would have to have two VIPs right? For the external network (company one) and the high bandwidth one (because this is only connected to the other proxmox nodes)?
I noticed a suspicious device on my network. The MAC address company was AMPAK Technology. It appeared and disappeared faster than I could investigate. After 2 weeks it re-appeared and I was able to scan it with NMAP. Per NMAP, SSL certificate common name was "Shenzhen SEI Robotics TV SEI400TV Amlogic AMLS905Y2 Cast." The TiVo Stream 4K was off and its primary network interface was not connected yet this suspicious secondary connection was active. I unplugged the TiVo and the suspicious connection instantly went away.
I think TiVo has some explaining to do. It appears to have a secondary network connection that goes in and out of activity even when the device is turned off. I cannot find any explanation within TiVo's documentation as to why this connection exists.
Just a quick note in case someone else runs into the same issue. One of my two interfaces seem to be up but no network and so feeling around I ended up having to turn off and turn on the interface I did that through logging into the command line as the admin user and doing a 'ifconfig eth1 down' and then 'ifconfig eth1 up'. Then traffic started flowing like normal.
Qbittorrent - Advanced - Network Interface sees Proton Vpn, but not iVPN. Is selecting wi-fi enough to make sure Qbit doesn't leak?
It'd be much easier for me if ESXi/vCenter could allow adding labels/comments/descriptions for disks and network interface at VM's hardware level settings. If you have many VM/templates with multiple disks and network interfaces, one can easily get confused.
Is there a such feature planned or is there other approach to achieve this?
I am trying to make it so that SMB is only usable on one of the interfaces on my server (I want SMB on bond0 and docker vlan on enp5s0f1) Does anybody know how I could go about doing this, thanks:)
