A list of puns related to "Nestor The Chronicler"
Destiny is missing more of that content that makes you go "wow! where did you get that?!"
I must say, every time somebody uses an emote that is exclusively silver-only I always think to myself "cool he paid for that" instead of just appreciating the awesome emote itself.
Imagine how fulfilling and rewarding the Arc emotes could have been if they were tied to a triumph to get 100,000 kills with that particular subclass. Imagine getting the Collects Motes emotes for obtaining Dredgen or the Coin Flip emote for Reckoner. Get the Dawning Baking emote for baking 500 cookies during the event. Heck, make all new emotes for these things like your Guardian slaying a holographic Riven for Rivensbane! The list goes on.
The point is when something is tied behind a complete paywall, it removes all existing and potential satisfaction of owning it. The least they could do is compromise having an iron price and a gold so to speak. Where you can earn the reward by grinding naturally or you can pay for a shortcut. And people would still pay. And it removes the bitter feeling of feeling like all you're playing a mobile game full of microtransactions.
You can apply the same logic with Weapon ornaments with getting X number of kills with that gun. Make it high like 10,000 so you'd still have people pay for it or willing to grind and earn it.
I know Eververse has come a long way since the begining and this post isn't meant to rag on it. I get Bungie likes the extra income. It just sucks that Eververse indirectly affects some of the potential rewards and enjoyment of the game by existing the way it does. (Also conspiracy theory: Eververse is why we can't have shaders on exotic weapons :(
But congrats to those who're getting Chronicler.
Edit: I'm being told that it was nothing after all. Lol. That sucks, but I'm not upset. I'll check for sure after work.
Edit 2: Yeah it was nothing. Lol
To unlock all the pages of the truth to power lore book you need to visit mara 11 times but to do that you need to wait 3 weeks between each visit. When you only get 1 page per visit that means it will take 33 weeks to unlock the truth to power lore book and thus the chronicler seal
Why did I get myself into this?
A little over a month ago, I decided I wanted to try for the Chronicler title. At the time, all I had completed was the Forsaken quest lore book. I did a little bit of research, and it looked like it would be a fun journey, flying around the solar system collecting hidden lore scannables. Like a giant treasure hunt. Plus, I love the lore--knowing a little more about the story of what's going on makes all of the activities in Destiny shine.
And I was right, sort of! I spent several nights cruising around from planet to planet, poking into little corners of the maps that I never would have found if not for the need to chase the story. It was a refreshing change in the rhythm of play from nights spent playing Gambit, raiding, or pursuing power level through various other activities.
I even appreciated how hard I had to work. The Chronicler title requires more than just rummaging through forgotten alcoves in lost sectors. You have to complete the Ace of Spades quest (not terribly hard, but requires at least a little skill). You have to complete the Wish Ender quest, then destroy all 40 corrupted eggs. You have to complete the Malfeasance quest, then complete various other Gambit triumphs (including Mote Thief, a tricky one for me). I've loved all that because it has made me better at the game. As a man whose most noticeable talent in Destiny is the ability to fall into any hole at any time, I appreciated the training at jumping puzzles. I'm much better at those now. I normally leave it to others to invade during Gambit because I'm terrible at PvP, but chasing the Chronicler title meant I had to be brave in that respect.
However, there are other parts of the Chronicler title that are absolutely demoralizing. The Man They Call Cayde requires getting lucky in two ways--first by having the Ace in the Hole quest appear as a daily heroic, then by having one of the 14 lore tabs drop when you open a chest. Last night, I got 3 tabs from opening 50 chests. And I can't even complain about that too much because I read another post on here from a poor soul who ran the mission ten times (100 chests) and got nothing.
The Most Loyal lore book requires waiting until the Tangled Shore is the flashpoint (once every 6 weeks), then grinding activities and hoping for lore drops. Now, after waiting for a month, my experience with this one wasn't too bad--heroic adventures seem to have a pretty high drop rate, so I got the whole
... keep reading on reddit β‘For the Chronicler, I think it could be interesting for them to affect how the story is told. My suggestion would be that once per day the Chronicler could use a reaction to allow a fellow officer to reroll an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw and the officer would then have to use the new roll.
Anyone else have an idea? Obviously there's no requirement for Matt to use any of our ideas, but it could be interesting to see what we can cook up!

Finishing the Audible book but sure I missed a few things -- anyone know of any good summaries for action steps?
So, anyone has any idea why the Nestor prices suddenly exploded?
I get that for the nullsec NPC faction ships the price would increase on account of the blackout, but SOE missions afaik are done in high/ls so what's the deal here?
It used to be like 400m or so at some point, now it's selling in jita for 760m. I don't get it.
There is a ghost in the mission that can only be accessed during this mission and is needed for the triumph. I do not believe it was offered during the last tangled shore flashpoint a couple weeks ago.
The ghost is dead ghost #3 The chosens choice.

Am I just missing something or is this a potential mistake?
For those that are grinding for the Lore seal and for the title of Chronicler, this week is a special week you should take advantage of. The week of April 2-April 8th (or up until reset on the 9th) is when the flashpoint for the week will be in the Tangled shore, which is required to get lore pages for "Variks the Loyal" lore book.
To get the lore to drop, you must do events in the Tangled shore (i.e. public event farming or the heroic adventure) is how I've heard most people farm their lore pages. I farmed mine from the heroic adventure. Just make sure you try to get all 13 pages this week, as it will not be the flashpoint again for many weeks. Just a friendly reminder that you should put some time into this before it's Monday night and you are stuck at 3/13 and want to grind for 10 pages.
Also some things to look out for...
"The Man They Called Cayde" - The lore from this book can be found while opening Cayde stashes throughout the game. A good way to farm them is to check the daily heroic story missions and wait for "Ace in the Hole" to show up. This is the Cayde mission where you have to open the 10 stashes and listen to his messages to everyone. You can reliably farm this mission on that day and get (on average for me at least) 2 lore pages a mission.
"The Dreaming City" - This lore book honestly feels like it's the longest to grind, as you have a random chance of getting lore from opening a chest from a Dreaming City public event or the chest from Blind Well. If you want to grind the BW, you can always do it solo, or you can even ask people in the LFG discord to see if anyone else is trying to grind (I've grinded most of mine solo on T2 blind well, but I believe it can come from any).
Hope this reminder helps. And happy grinding future Chroniclers!
I forgot how much I loved to hate that guy. The fact that he's so dug in that he will tell Norm to piss off. The guy is such a tool and so into himself you know it bugs him that aside from his twitter and wiki pages, if you search "Nasty Nestor" most of the top articles are about him and the Ticket. He's been in Baltimore radio for about 25 years and his only claim to fame is his beef with the little Ticket.
He's just so nasty, and so Nestor!
As this seal will be available soon, here is a guide on where to get all the lore books for the Chronicler seal. There are 10 books in total that need to be completed to get the seal.
Uldren Sov
4 of these books are collected through the Forsaken campaign, and the other 16 are found throughout the Tangled Shore and other destinations. None of these are timegated, you can collect them all whenever you want.
The Tangled Shore
These books are automatically gained by playing the Forsaken campaign, so you should have them all by the time you complete the last mission. No extra effort is needed.
The Man They Called Cayde
This book begins to unlock once you play the Ace in the Hole mission for the first time. This mission is unlocked by completing the Forsaken campaign and then most of the Ace of Spades mission. Once you complete this mission, you can unlock more entries from opening any world chests.
However, if Ace in the Hole is one of the heroic story missions, you can play this for a much higher chance of getting entries from the Cayde stashes.
The Dreaming City
These entries can be earned by completing public events in the dreaming city (including blind well), completing lost sectors and opening world chests. The drop chance is quite rare, so expect to be waiting a while between entries dropping.
Marasenna
This book is arguably the most annoying to get, as it requires a lot of waiting for weekly resets. Some of the entries are unlocked by collecting Ahamkara bones, which are scattered around in the dreaming city and the ascendant challenges, which are on a weekly rotation.
The rest of the lore is collected by destroying all 40 corrupted eggs. These are found in a variety of areas in the dreaming city. As you need the wish ender bow to destroy the eggs, and some eggs are found in the Shattered Throne, you will need to do the Shattered Throne at least 3 times to complete this book.
Truth to Power
This is the longest book to complete. Every three weeks, you are granted access to Mara's throne world. Each visit grants you one piece of lore, and since there are 11 books to collect, you will be waiting 33 weeks to get this book if you don't have it already.
The Awoken of The Reef
This book requires you to collect all the Crystallised Thoughts that are found throughout the Dreaming City and the other destinations.
The Drifter
3 of these entries are found by completing the Malfeance quest, and the other 7 are
... keep reading on reddit β‘My tinfoil theory is that Chronicler performs written magic and in the process drains all power from things in which he writes (like dragon turning into draccus). He turns reality into myth. By the end of the story, the Chandrian, Amyr, Scrael, Fae, Cthaeh, and anyone else that is a fantastical threat will be drained of their power which will save the world. But the sacrifice and tragedy is that Kvothe will also be drained of his power. And maybe the bittersweet ending is that the box will remain locked until he finally loses his power (maybe a part of his mind is keeping it locked or that's the charm put on the box), but once it unlocks he can finally return to his lute and to song. The struggle Kvothe has until this is written is that his most prized possession that brings him the most joy is locked away from him, and he cannot access it until what is fake (him acting as if he is Kote) becomes real. Kvothe locking away his lute is punishment for what he has caused in the world but also the thing that will drive him and force him to make the ultimate sacrifice to make everything right again.
Why?
Because you get a second Anivia for 4 mana.
Chronicler works fantastic with any Last Breath card anyways, but this specific interaction is quite special. Anivia's last breath spawns her egg, which in turn spawns her at the start of the next round, making her actually quite difficult to deal with. Since Chronicler essentially spawns a copy of the unit it kills, you get both a brand new Anivia along with her egg that spawns another Anivia at the start of the round.
And having both Anivias attack is enough to consistently clear the opponent's board time and time again.
The more I play with Chronicler, the more I fall in love with it, because it is just an awesome card.
I can't get the "By Thy Tongue Be Damned" lore triumph after having completed the Forsaken campaign twice and doing lots of Tangled Shore baron adventures.
Just had a quick question about this though. So far my lore hunting and gathering has been going great however, Iβm now at the more grindy parts with the βThe Man Named Caydeβ And the βThe Dreaming Cityβ Lore books. I know that you can get the lore pieces for Cayde by opening chests anywhere in the system, and obviously the dreaming city lore is by doing stuff in the dreaming city, but my question is; Are you limited to one lore piece per daily/weekly reset? The last one I got was Wednesday afternoon in the dreaming city from the Blind Well and I havenβt gotten a single piece since then! All Iβve been doing is roaming around the dreaming city doing Public events, Lost Sectors, Blind Wells and everything! And when I say βAll Iβve been doingβ I mean that literally. Hours a day. So are you limited per reset or am I just really unlucky?
I finally finished The Most Loyal book and FINALLY got the Mote Thief triumph to finish my Drifter's Gambit book! I've been grinding the hell out of it, and didn't know until yesterday that it only drops on weeks that the Tangled Shore is the Flashpoint... Oh well. Finally finished it.
Edit: Mote thief is available any time. Most Loyal is only available during Tangled Shore flashpoints.
