A list of puns related to "Mutual Of Omaha"
The morning of 3/12 at the prairie life fitness in midtown. They just sent out an email.
Even though they were supposed to be self quarantined since 3/7 ...
Preferably in the IT department. How's the culture? Been reached out by a recruiter about a job opening, I'm currently not looking but doesn't hurt to look into it. Is tenure rewarded? Do you like it?
Edit: thanks very one. I think I got my answer from the few that replied. Work flexibility(7-3) and WFH are two of the important things for me. I don't think I'll be moving forward.
I am a marketing manager for a couple of small companies and was looking for upwards mobility outside of my current field. I have a background in administration and marketing so I started pitching to management and business firms around my local area I found from searching online.
In the first month of pitching my resume to various firms and industries, I received plenty of notifications for an interview. The first available one was from Mutual of Omaha, where I had applied for a "Financial Advisor" position.
Keep in mind that I am aware that they sell Insurance. I was explicitly looking to avoid any trappings of that - but I was totally on-board if it was insurance as a service as a Financial Advisor (part of stocks, bonds, and other planning).
In the first interview I expressed this concern, but was told that I would be getting licensed in more than just Insurance and that it would be a part of the services I would be able to offer. They expressed that - though pay was based on commission - the others in their firm brought home 6-figure salaries, and most got that from their Financial Advisory services to personally-networked clientele. I was then told of a bonus that I would be eligible for if I passed a personality test (not unusual. They want profit-pushers) and a second round of interviews.
Okay. Great. I got to the second round of this highly-lucrative and highly-secure position. After getting my suit cleaned and canceling another same-day interview I came in and channeled my inner Jordan Belfort/Donald Trump and blew the test out of the water.
After that test I sat down for my final interview.
Then they started telling me about the joys of selling insurance to my friends on social media, gave me a packet with "tiers" of percentages based solely on sales per quarter, and was told that I would have to "work my way up" to a full Financial Advisor from Insurance Sales. Yep. Full-on bait n' switch.
It gets worse: That bonus? I'm only ELIGIBLE for that if I put the full data of 300 persons in their "Market Share" program, which - with all immediate verbal assurances - was not going to be used outside of assessment and was there strictly to "help them track my marketing." Despite it being written directly on the fucking page that it was subject to their use for internal distribution and use as they saw fit.
They then go on to clarify that I would be paying for my own fucking licenses. Obviously starting with my insurance license. And FURTHER: th

I need your input as Mutual of Omaha has basically offered me the financial advisor role. However, it seems they only want me to do mutual funds and insurance. no stock picking aka no Series 7 requirement. Was curious everyoens thoughts on this. I love stocks and that's why I want to be a financial advisor so I can grow peoples money by investing it for them in stocks, index funds, mutual funds, bonds, etc. it seems Omaha doesn't do this.
I have a potential offer from Morgan Stanley to be a financial advisor, however now I'm thinking I should be an analyst if I like equities trading so much. I'm honestly quite confused and need some advice here.
Thank you in advance.
I just accepted an accounting internship with Mutual of Omaha for the summer of 2020. The official title is Senior Business Intern but, I'm focusing on accounting. Those who work at Mutual of Omaha or interns who had the same role what are your thoughts. Thanks!
