A list of puns related to "Molybdenite"
I don't know if this is right place to put this question. I'm also pretty much a layman on the concept, but I've been doing a bit of googling and it seems like molydenite with graphene transistors look promising. I'm aware of the doping necessary to do NPN vs PNP. A lot of what Ive seen may have been a little bit dated though and the question may no longer be relevant.
But what are the disadvantages to molybdenite transistors being used in consumer electronics? The scale seems possible as it is relatively abundant, while not as abundant as silicon, but it is indeed cheaper than silicon. Molybdenite is itself a semiconductor and doesn't need to be pure Mo. It shows promise for being used in very small devices and they can be like atoms thick. It appears to have better performance than silicon per energy usage. What's not to like?
What engineering barriers are there for molybdenite to displace silicon as the primary component in transistors used in consumer GPUs and CPUs? Or is this entirely just a matter of economics and investment in new tech?

So last summer I came across quite an outcrop of this lustrous metallic material while on my first backwoods rock hounding weekend. I was not prepared to actually come across something, let alone something so interesting.
It's seemingly non-magnetic, very very soft, always flaky in occurrence, leaves a greasy blue grey streak, and the stuff is beyond abundant at the location I have found. The pictures cannot capture how damn shiny and lustrous this metal is either. So tell me, am I right to think it is molybdenite?
I currently have my legally mandated amount hoarded away until next years trip, and there is lots more to come. Hopefully it's got some specimen value to some people (I realize commercially that molybdenite isn't really worth setting up a true mine for).
I'd also love to hear from some other rockhounds in Ontario and talk about how they buy trade and sell their collections. I am pretty green when it comes to all this.
I'm obsessed. The pictures look incredible. Has anyone done this run? The elevation alone is crazy, not too technical from what i gather... just one big hill climb with switchbacks and then the descent.
