A list of puns related to "Mendip Hills"
Has anyone got any recommendations for good wild camping spots in the Mendip Hills for some newbies?
The 3.2 earthquake at Bridgwater had me wondering. I'm not anticipating any massive unzipping along the floor of the River Parrett, just curious (and aware that many people here know things across a wide range of topics).
This is one of Englandβs most special places β the limestone Mendip Hills with the lakes of the Chew Valley is a stunning landscape of steep slopes and undulating plateau punctuated by spectacular gorges and rocky outcrops. On the hilltops there are hundreds of ancient monuments, whilst on steeper slopes flower rich grasslands and wooded combes offer varied habitats for a wide variety of wildlife.

In recognition of its special qualities the area has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). One of 46 AONBs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and a member of the National Association of AONBs, these protected landscapes are managed through local Partnerships on behalf of the nation. The Mendip Hills (normally called the Mendips) is a scope of limestone slopes south of Bristol and Bath in Somerset, England. Running east to west between Weston-super-Mare and Frome, the hills border the Somerset Levels and the Chew Valley. The higher, western hills, covering some 198 km2 (76 sq mi) has been assigned an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) designation.
The slopes are to a great extent shaped by Carboniferous Limestone. Three nationally important semi-natural ecosystems are characteristic of the area: ashβmaple woodland, calcareous grassland and mesotrophic grassland.
The earliest recorded mention of βMendip β is in a survey by the Knights Templar, 1185. However, it is known that there has been human habitation since Palaeolithic and Mesolithic times due to the range of artefacts recovered from caves. Neolithic, Iron Age, and Bronze Age features are common with over 200 scheduled ancient monuments recorded. There is evidence of mining in the Mendips dating back to the late Bronze Age particularly for lead and silver. The Romans expanded these operations after their arrival. A wide scope of recreational activities occur in the Mendips, it is a popular area for climbers and hillwalkers.
Do your worst!
OK folks, what's your opinion on the hardest hill to climb around Bristol? I mean in terms of the combination of steepness and length that makes your legs scream and makes you want to throw up. On road only please!
Personally, the hardest I've found is Queens Road/Broadway Hill between Bishopsworth and Dundry.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
