A list of puns related to "Mcmaster"
McMaster has a really wonderful opportunity right now in the palm of their hands to shift the way university runs for the better and they are going to fuck it up in so many ways.
I understand the strong desire to be back, its been two years since I stepped foot on campus and at this point I even miss centro.
One thing I cannot deny about online learning was how good of an opportunity it was for tons of students to watch lectures at their discretion and learn at their own pace, and be able to write stressful tests and exams in the comfort of their home. Plenty of tests in the real world are either take home or on the computer so firstly this isn't a big punch to true learning (the LSAT for example).
But if Mac gets their way this beautiful and difficult shift which is almost complete of making a hybrid university which gives students the CHOICE of how to pursue their education and giving them the best tools possible will be eliminated in a single day.
Im curious what you guys think, do you believe that students should have the option of how they learn? There is definitely a need for labs and maybe even tutorials to be in person, but what about the other 80% of learning, why not record all lectures and give students the option to come in or not?
Anticipating the emails to come out soon. Good luck to everyone applying!

Just want to start off saying Iβm a second year student, and from the beginning Mac has been screwing me over ( and other 2nd year students ). Paying full tuition fee, one of the only universities in Ontario that hasnβt been open to most students at least once in the past two years, there late announcements, and the fact that they wonβt even offer hybrid classes baffles me. Iβm tired of doing nothing, if anybody here can suggest how we can take action please leave it below.
What do you do when you can talk to Gods and have the second sight but everybody thinks youβre completely and undeniably MAD?!
Easy β you do what Ista did!
Start off on a quest to curse a few Gods, fight a few demons, save a few souls and gain forgiveness for your own, answer a few prayers, fall in love, curse the Gods some more and then become their tool to maybe save the world?! Perhaps find courage, happiness and even yourself along on the road.
I loved The Curse of Chalion but it's sequel, Paladin of Souls is even better. It centres on Ista dowager royina of Chalion-Ibra who was one of my least favorite characters until now. This story however, told from Istaβs perspective, turns the small little grey mouse of a woman from the first book into a strong, proud, level-headed independent woman with a sharp tongue and an even sharper understanding of world, spirit and life. It is a romance, a philosophical treaty, a spiritual guide as well as a quest and an adventure. And everything is glued together with an amazing craftsmanship!

This is a book for mature readers β not because it has sex β It doesnβt! But because you need to reach a certain age and life experience to be able to fully appreciate this authorβs subtleties of meaning:
the gods did not desire flawless souls, but great ones. I think that very darkness is where the greatness grows from, as flowers from the soil. I am not sure, in fact, if greatness can bloom without it.
There are so many little sentences in here that will set you thinking about life and love, about future and your soul. My book looks downright ravaged with so many little notes and highlights.
There are witty dialogues:
"No attendants, no guards - five gods, consider your station and your safety! Consider my grey hairs! You have stood them on end with this start.""I do apologise to your grey hairs," said Ista with a little real contrition. "They do not deserve the toil of me, nor does the remainder of you either, good dy Ferrej...."
hilarious internal musings:
βA god-given lover, importunate and bold as a scarred stray cat, rubbing past my guard into my good graces. If I can keep him fed.β
And above all, wonderful compliments:
***βTch, tch, tch, look at yourself, bittersweet Ista. Saint, sorcerer, dowager royina
... keep reading on reddit β‘I see lots of posts here (me being one of them) off people asking about their chances. I have seen the posted table that matches CARS, GPA and minimum Casper. The other way I have seen people calculate chances is based on deviation from accepted class stats. I have a similar way which is reasonable. Let me know what you think. So according to the data available on AFMC, the IP success rate is around 8%, this could include people who get off the waitlist and waitlist movement is around 100 people on average. 200 people in class size are from IP. That means that out of almost 5.8k applicants roughly 4k are IP applicants. 90% of interview spots are (out of 600) are reserved for IP students, so 540. In Order for you to make the cut you need to be in 88 percentile of applicants which equals a Z score of 1.2. Now I am going to use the Stouffer's approach to combine the Z scores (I assume the Casper and CARS distributions are pretty normal, I try to estimate the new SD and average GPA if they were to normalize the GPA distribution) The average GPA of applicants is said to 3.6 with SD of 0.4. I believe if they normalize the distribution the average will be closer to 3.7 with a SD of 0.15 which will grant people with 4.0 GPA a Z score of 2 (98 percentile). As for CARS the average for all applicants is close to 126.2 and a SD of 2.3. For Casper we will use the percentile to calculate the Z score. a 4th quartile Casper lets say 75th percentile for example will grant you a Z score of 0.7
Now in order to estimate the total Z score we use the following formula:
Z Total = Z CARS + Z GPA + Z Casper / β3
now again the minimum Z total needed is 1.2.
Lets do one example. A person with 3.8 GPA. 129 CARS and a 4th quartile (lets say 80% percentile) CASPER will have the following Z scores. Z Casper = 0.95 Z CARS = 1.22 Z GPA = 0.67
Z Total = 1.64 > 1.2 high chances of getting interview invite.
Let me know if you have any suggestions! π
disclaimer: iβm in this program but iβm just questioning some stuff
why do so many people in this program get into med school? and it canβt just be because of higher gpas. iβve seen people from other programs have the same stats as them, and yet theyβre the ones who get interviews, and the people from other programs donβtβ¦? is there something iβm missing because a 60% success rate is just too much and i still donβt know what the secret is. i think about this a lotπ
Last year there was 7000 people who applied to the program. How many of you are applying this year and if so have you begun the supplementary questions? Which options did the majority of you choose on your supp app. I think this program isnβt talked about enough on this Reddit considering it being the best program in Canada for βpre medβ
Since classes are resuming in-person, I have to commute to McMaster from Toronto. I'm going to be taking public transit, does anyone know if train actually goes all the way to mac? & is there any discount I can use since I'll be commuting regularly
Members of the Murdaugh Family Donated Over $110,000 In Political Contributions
In the past 12 years, members of the Murdaugh family of Hampton, among the most powerful legal families in South Carolina, have contributed over $110,000 to political candidates across the state, according to campaign disclosures reported to the S.C. Ethics Commission.
Richard Alexander "Alex" Murdaugh, along with his late wife, Maggie Murdaugh, his father, Randolph Murdaugh III, and brother Randolph "Randy" Murdaugh IV, donated to candidates ranging from prominent political players such as Governor Henry McMaster and 14th Circuit Solicitor Issac McDuffie "Duffie" Stone to local council members and sheriffs
In addition, the family's law firm, Peters Murdaugh Parker Eltzroth and Detrick PA, ("PMPED") has donated over $200,000 to political action committees since 2012, the ethics commission website shows. Such political contributions, which candidates are required to report, are not uncommon in South Carolina β a state with a well-connected, sometimes intertwined legal community. But they are one indication of the prominent family's access to power: the people who make, interpret or enforce laws and policies in towns, counties and the state.
Among the candidates receiving contributions:
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, $31,500 from 2008 to 2018; State Senate
Dick Harpootlian, a criminal defense lawyer who sits on the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee, $2,000 in 2020;
House Representative Todd Rutherford, a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, which oversees preparation of the state budget, $1,000 in 2016;
Former House Representative Bakari Sellers, $11,500 during his 2014 unsuccessful run for lieutenant governor;
14th Circuit Solicitor Issac McDuffie "Duffie" Stone, $2,500 in 2016.
John Crangle, government relations director for the SC Progressive Network, said Thursday that he worries about the ways powerful citizens use campaign contributions to try to "buy access" in state and local government. Crangle, a well-known government watchdog, is the author of the book "Operation Lost Trust: And the Ethics Reform Movement" about vote-buying and political corruption in the S.C. Legislature.

Do you need to dress formally like a blazer, or informal like a hoodie?
Hi everyone! I was wondering if there was anyone interested in forming a small group (3-4 max) to help each other prep for interviews for McMaster, Queen's and Ottawa (and possibly more too).
do they look at the current midterm? I did grade 12 eng, function and health during grade 11. but I'm going to redo eng and function. can someone explain to me like im in grade 9. thanks !!!!
What the title says
I used 10/13 clear tubing from bykski via ali express and it seems to be losing water to evap. (The loop has been running since August and the water level is still dropping and I see no sign of leaks, so I'm pretty sure its not air bubbles working its way out).
I'm going to be moving my build to a new case, so I figured it would be a good time to swap out the tubing. EK's ZMT doesn't come in 10/13 but McMaster-Carr does offer EPDM rubber tubing in 10/13. On EK's site, they say their ZMT is EPDM. So is there any difference I should be aware of? Or am I good to go with McMaster Carr's EPDM tubing so that I don't need new fittings?

Let me know what you smart students think.
what do you guys think, drop your thoughts below
Yβall are rare and Idk anyone who got in with this but the 5 people who got admitted to McMaster MD with cGPA < 3.5ββ what are your other stats like (CARS, Casper, interview)?
I'm currently a high school student and am thinking of applying to Guelph's BLA program, but I'm applying to universities for the sociology program too as my second choice since Guelph is the only university that offers LA and it's competitive.
I'm not joking when I say this but the grade 12 english teacher at my school is brutal, so much so that they were forced to stop teaching grade 12's because they failed so many. But, now they are the head of their department and I really would like to take english in summer school, but english is my only requirement, will that affect my admissions?
If any social science majors at guelph could help me, I'd be really grateful! :)
FYI: My grade 11 english mark was a 88 and it was in summer school
Hi, I had a couple questions about the McMaster ArtSci program, hopefully someone can help me out!
With the case numbers going up, the holiday season approaching and the shortage of housing and the $-sucking landlords, University has got to decide SOON whether it is going to be ONLINE from Jan 2022.
I have tried numerous accommodations but non has worked out so far. Earlier I had accommodation then, in the end, McMaster decided to go for remote learning. And I lost all my rent money :( :(
As the subject says, I am a postdoctoral researcher at McMaster University cross-appointed to the Department of Surgery, and the Research and High-Performance Computing Services. I have a B.Sc from Bishop's University (1991-1995, go gaiters), M.Sc. from Athabasca University (2012-2016, go ???), a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan (2012-2016, go Huskies), and I'm hoping to start a B.Mus at Carleton University (2022?, go Ravens).
My primary research interest is in applied machine learning. My main research focus has been on inferred algorithms for different types of processes. One of my biggest projects right now is finding an inferred algorithm for neural activity to diagnose neurological disease and injury.
Ask me anything, and I'll do my best to answer. :)
EDIT: Feel free to post any more questions you may have. I'm off for the day, but if I see something then I'll still try to answer.
U of A is going to have to up its game to avoid a similar fate. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2021/12/15/ontario-universities-moving-classes-online-in-january-amid-surging-covid-cases.html
Spoilers Below! You've been warned. Also, all reviews are subjective. My opinions are my own. I'm writing this review as an author critiquing another author's book, in an attempt to improve my own writing.
BIASES STATED
To put this review/study in proper context, you must know my starting point.
This is my third time reading this book. I am a fan of this series (The World of the Five Gods), but this book is my least favorite of the main-line trilogy. That said, I still enjoyed it enough to read it three times, so bare in mind that my critique of this book will be influenced by my baseline enjoyment. If I didn't enjoy this book, I would not have read it again, and therefore I would not be reviewing it right now.
WHAT IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE?
READER'S EMOTIONAL RESPONSE/ FUN FACTOR
I am in this book's target audience. Indeed, this book and the rest of the World of the Five Gods series was MASSIVELY influential on my personal taste in fantasy, because I first read them at a formative period in my life. I like themes of religion and unwilling cultural assimilation. I like dark overtones in my stories, but not to the point of having Grimdark. I liked this book's small scope. As a result, I enjoyed this a great deal.
Overall, I give the story's Emotional Resonance: (4.5/5 Stars)
(5 Stars= Perfect, 4=Great, 3=Good/Average, 2=Fun but Flawed, 1=Not Recommended)
SIMILAR BOOKS
CONCEPT AND EXECUTION
This book is very much so the red-headed stepchild in the World of the Five Gods main trilogy. 'Curse of Chalion' and 'Paladin of Souls' are legitimately some of the best Fantasy books ever written, with excellent plots, characters and pacing. Now to be fair, 'The Hallowed Hunt' isn't bad- indeed, I gave this 4.5 stars based on 'fun factor'. But because we have to
