A list of puns related to "Mathematics And Art"
Like, I know why that is, itβs just weird to think about how people like Aristotle or Sun Tzu knew less about these things than a B student in a decent high school
This afternoon, I accepted an award for Outstanding Student in Theatre from my college. I was the second student to receive my award, so I got to sit down and watch the same 15 people receive like 10 different awards for different things, and they all were students who were going into fields of math or science. I was the only Arts student receiving an award, unless you count Culinary, which I donβt. **EDIT: to rephrase, because my opinion has changed, my school considers Culinary separate from the Arts. And while entertainment isnβt saving lives, it has just as much hard work involved as math or science, especially as a student, when youβre trying out different parts of the theatre, trying to figure out what suits you best, like acting, makeup, costumes, stage management, lights, sound, backstage crew, set construction, directing, etc. and I believe that Theatre deserves a lot more recognition than it gets.
What should I do? Should I try and reconnecting with someone to get it archived or should I continue making art on it?
Didn't know how to upload the picture of the pages, but here is one page where I've worked. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxIDge8JK0g/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
Edit: Some elaboration.
Where is the culture in overemphasizing mathematics? Sure, did can do trigonometry in the eighth grade, but can he appreciate a good novel, or is he taught the important of walking and riding a bicycle versus taking a vehicle? He can find the volume of his pencil if it were hollowed out, but does he know about the mass deforestation and global warming? Can he simply sit and be present for ten minutes, thinking of nothing? Does he know what to do if his bicycle experiences a chain derailment or if his vehicle starts making a knocking noise below his feet as compared to the passenger side of the engine bay? Does he even know the state bird or flower? Can be name three literary geniuses of the 20th century? The 19th? Does he know of Bach? Vivaldi? What of John Nash, even? What about Home-Ec? Sure, you can do quadrilateral whatcha-call-its, but can you bake a loaf of bread? Do you know that you should not use a credit card if you don't have the money already? Do you know when to pay that card to avoid interest?
I could go on. Truth has it that mathematics is being placed at far too high of a priority than all other fields. Mathematics is not the soul of the universe (okay, so, it is...). Where are we if what we are most focused on is that of technological advancement and not even cultural maintenance?
Note: Thank you all so much for some great discussion and viewpoints. I can see some reasoning behind the value of mathematics, for the most part. Maybe, then, we should look at the value of our educations and its delivery methods.

Therefore,
The highest art is mathematics.
Hello all! I am currently enrolled to the University of North Texas to start off my freshman year very soon! I've always known I'm a big math nerd, and I enjoy doing math whenever I can. My plan is get a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics since I already have an Associates of Arts. No I do not plan on being a teacher, so I guess the teacher certification is not a thought for me... however I'm very open to pretty much anything else. The program states I need to have a minor (no specifications) that is not statistics.
Basically what I'm asking is what do you guys think a minor would work best with a BA in Mathematics given that I am not interested in teaching at all? How could that minor help me out?
I did this yesterday, so today's numbers are not included. I was a chronically high math/computer science double major, did all of this DD while high, used yahoo finance and S3 screenshots, and am still holding my 39 shares @ 250, so I don't know shit and this could be completely wrong π¦πππ
a. as of 1/15 there were 61.78M shares shorted out of a total 46.89 shares available to short
b. according to S3 estimates, shorties didn't start covering until about 1/28
c. total volume of gme since 1/28 (inclusive): 58.82 + 50.26 + 37.38 + 78.18 + 42.7 + 59.75 = 327.09M
d. weighted average of gme price (upon close) since 1/28 (the weight is the price's respective volume as a percentage of the total volume since 1/28):
193.6*0.1798 + 325*0.1537 + 225*0.1143 + 90*0.239 + 92.41*0.1305 + 53.5*0.1827 = $131.9987
e. assuming shorties played a game of numbers and DCA'ed, $131.9987 should be their estimated average cost per share
f. current estimated short interest is 39% (18.2871M shares), so the amount of covered short shares would be: 61.78 - 18.2871 = 43.4929
g. estimated total cost to cover (d * e): 131.9987*43.7929 ~ $5.7806B
we know this estimate is lower than what it really is because in our calculations we assume that only shorts are covering and no new shorts are being opened between 1/15 and now, however, in S3's estimates, short interest is accumulated after it's first decent from the range of 126% - 131%, therefore more shorts must have been covered and new shorts opened
we don't know how many shorts covered nor how many new shorts opened, but I would guesstimate this isn't greater than a factor of 3 (I know, shit mathematics right here, but we don't know these numbers, so this has to be a ballpark estimation)
h. estimated amount spent on gme since 1/28 (d * h): 131.7428*327.09 ~ $43.0918B
i. given that $43.0918B was spent and only $5.7806B (within a factor of 3; so max 17.3418B) was spent on covering shorts, it is possible that shorts have covered the amount reported by S3
*this doesn't account for option plays nor does it account for short ladder volume (I don't know how I would find that)
