A list of puns related to "Maru"
I see a lot of people blaming Maruβs loss on this or that but it really comes down to that he isnβt playing as well as he usually does. Heβs been making a lot of mistakes that he usually doesnβt, even compared to earlier this year in GSL. He could be choking, or jet lagged, or whatever, he is simply not playing up to his usual standard. So if anyone wants to cry imba these games are not the hill to die on. His opponents played well and Maru didnβt.
Every episode of ST: Prodigy involves forcing kids to brutally execute someone who has committed no crime...

Many jokes has been made about Maru being the last terran in a tournament, but how frequently does it really happened?
The meme originated relatively early in his career, between the first time he was the last terran standing, winning OSL 2 vs Rain mid 2013 and mid 2014 a year later, Maru was the last Terran 7 of the 9 tournament he entered and tied with MMA in one of the last two. Maru had to wait until 2018 to find a period as dominant against fellow terran.
In total, between the first tournament of SC2 history, GSL 1 and Dreamhack season 2 final, Maru has participated or qualified in 92 "Premier" tournament (I didn't count code A). In those he was the last terran standing in 27 time and not the last terran standing 51 time, having a last man standing success of 33%.
I have to say, it's somehow a bit lower than I expected? Still extraordinary. (Also since someone will ask, yes it's higher than Serral, he's at 31%)
Riker didn't need to take it, he just liked the decontamination gel portions of the exam and volunteered for continuing education unit purposes (on the pretense of one day accepting his own command.)
Has anyone played this game? I saw it at #12 in the Famitsu readers' poll for the best games of all time, but obviously it was never translated into English. I assume that this is because the Japanese voice acting makes a fan translation difficult.
I know zero Japanese, but I had decent success using Google Translate's OCR and audio recording features. Unfortunately it's kind of a pain and I can't see myself playing the whole game this way.
