Iβm Julie Rodgers, author of the memoir Outlove: A Queer Christian Survival Story. I grew up in the Dallas area in an Evangelical Christian family. When I came out to my family at 16, I was immediately sent to a conversion therapy ministry. For years, my entire life revolved around trying not to be gay. Hey! I'm currently listening to the Making Gay History podcast, recordings of interviews from the late 80s (I think) with older people of the lgbt community. It's great all around, but this lady just seemed so lovely and courageous, and I wanted to share.
Edythe Eyde worked as a Hollywood secretary and was told to make herself look busy - so she wrote a lesbian magazine at work in the 1940s! π
