A list of puns related to "Maemo"
Anyone have experience with this brand and type? So far itβs been ok but Iβve never had brown kratom beforeβ¦ just using it til my preferred kratom gets shipped
so i am on a "quest" to compare every versions of every major web browsers, and i'm currently working on firefox : the problem is that the only firefox for maemo package is for ARM, but i was only able to run maemo leste on x86 so... does anyone know how to emulate maemo on QEMU's ARM emulator ?
thanks, Mariobot128
I have a number of Maemo devices in my drawer: couple of 770s, couple of N800s, an N810.
Any ideas how they can be used today? They still work! What can I turn them into?
I've been having issues with an ancient 2013 build of rockbox for maemo linux, it won't show any album artwork.
-Yes the artworks are in the correct jpeg format and work on my rockboxed ipod btw
-package info page states that its supposed to work (https://wiki.maemo.org/Rockbox)
Any ideas?
Update: it turns out this build is so ancient it can only get art from mp3 nvm, i was trying with flacs
Hello guys, I'm new to nokia n900,
Tl;dr
Install i3wm in maemo and remove hildon or alongside without using chroot distros.
Gpu state on pmos and maemo, is it possible to just use maemo with above case.
How long will this device last in the next few years, degraded and stuff, will this still usable in the near 3 -5 years (it might be won't, but if anyone knows more about this stuff, it might help to relieve this nagging curiousness)
This will be secondary device, what project might be good to use with n900?
I just bought one near me and I've also read a few things about n900 as a small terminal device using postmarketos as base. I wanna ask if it's possible in maemo (without migrating to pmos) to use i3wm (tiling window manager) instead of using hildon?
I read that maemo is Debian based and using hildon xorg de on the maemo leste, is it possible to remove it and then go into the command line interface first (like most Linux pre-desktop env. installation)? Or will it be better to just switch to pmos?
Also I've read some of the pmos reviews, PowerVR (GPU) isn't supported, or might be it is? I thought the GPU Will help with the processing on the maemo and pmos devices, or maybe it won't? I'm new to Linux, I've been using arch for a couple of months after tinkering with raspi and laptop, so I might be wrong if the GPU will helps at all on this small device, but I assume it'll prolly helps with watching videos (YouTube dl and mpv).
Also I thought it might be possible to remove or install alongside i3wm within the root env of the n900 instead of doing other distro chroot to use i3wm (cos I think it'll be lighter if it's using i3wm instead of doubling using chroot inside hildon) I'm not using it as primary device, so maybe I don't really bother with call functionality, it might be good if I still can get 2g or 3g despite of not using it to call at all (telegram-cli can be used instead).
Also how long will this device last (years/decade?) I'd like to tinker with this device, I know it's been a decade since, so it'll probably will hold on either 3 or 5 year most during it's lifetime? (Since technology will degraded as time goes on) but will it last more than that? (I love this kind of device much).
I'll probably used it like this
using terminal to mostly doing terminal stuff (vim and emacs maybe?)
fm transmitter, I've seen it's possible on the pmos also to stream musics (using spotdl in conjunction aplay or mpd with ncmpcpp)
ssh to
I have never had N900 (though I plan to collect such phones) but I always wondered: how do people exit full screen apps like games? There is no home button!
EDIT I unnecessarily put "Leste" in the title, the question is about every version that runs on N900
BTW. I tried to run Maemo Leste in QEMU like shown here, but there was no mouse pointer so it was very hard to do anything. Is there any solution to that?
Like, a lot?
I'm very tempted by the Galaxy Nexus - ICS looks amazing and I'm thinking about replacing my 18-month-old Nokia N900. I've done quite a bit of research but there's a few things I want to be sure Android (maybe only by rooting or installing apps) can do that my N900 (a Linux device) does. Can anyone confirm Android can do these things? Thanks.
