A list of puns related to "Licence To Crenellate"
Someone I know is selling their old car and is willing to give me a heavy discount if I am interested - trouble is, due to the pandemic I've not been able to finish my lessons and obviously get my licence.
Is it illegal for me to "buy" the car? Obviously I am not going to drive it, I'll keep it on my drive and when I eventually pass and be able to get my licence/insurance and do all the administrative filings by then.
What's their point? Heard one is the same guy from Wicklow who stopped the Athenry apple data centre. Blanket objecting to a bunch of felling licences.
"A massive slap in the face for veterans"
Good Morning Britain rolled out a 99 year old POW veteran to prove a point about the "disgusting proposition" that over 75s should be means tested, to see if they are eligible for a free TV licence. Piers Morgan actually asked someone on his show if they think "D Day veterans should have to pay a licence fee?" Utterly and stupendously over sensationalising the issue. Should they all receive discount on their weekly shop at Tesco too?
Does Piers think it is fair that people on Universal Credit should pay the TV licence fee? That maybe they should receive threatening letters, advising that they may go to prison if they do not pay?
The licence fee should be means tested for over 75s, and everyone else.
As the other post rightly points out, most over 75s did not fight in WW2. Using that as a rallying cry is inappropriate and inaccurate.
The BBC giving over 75s a free pass, no matter what their income or savings, is a slap in the face for everyone else who has to pay the fee.
But then again, why am I watching Good Morning Britain?
On the evening of April 29, 1991, 36-year old Dick Hansen, a former college football star from Santa Clara University, went out on a date with his long-time friend, Jean. Dick had two daughters and had been divorced for years. He had an on-again, off-again relationship with Jean, but months earlier, Dick underwent alcohol rehabilitation. Upon completion of the program, Dick called up Jean again to see if they could give their relationship another shot, so they met for dinner at a restaurant called Original Joeβs in San Jose at 10:00 PM. They subsequently went to a nightclub located five miles away, travelling there in Jeanβs car while Dick left his pick-up truck parked outside the restaurant. They left the club at around 1:45 AM on April 30 and Dick drove Jeanβs car back to the spot where his truck was parked. Dick and Jean chatted inside the car and decided they would go back to Jeanβs place in Belmont. However, a car soon pulled behind them being driven by a white male who appeared to be in his late thirties or early forties and wore glasses with large black frames. The man just sat behind the wheel staring at them. Since they were parked in front of a mailbox, Jean wondered if the man was waiting to use it and asked Dick if they should move forward, but Dick said the guy had plenty of room.
Since Jean was unfamiliar with the route out of San Jose, Dick told her to follow him while they headed to Belmont. Dick then climbed into his pick-up truck and drove off with Jean following closely behind. Jean then noticed that the man in the vehicle was completely shadowing her. Whenever she changed lanes, he would do the exact same thing. They soon left the city on Interstate 280 and the man proceeded to follow them for the next ten miles. At one point, Jean decided to surprise the driver by suddenly slamming on the brakes, but he copied her by slamming on the brakes as well. Jean subsequently pulled up next to Dick and rolled down her window to suggest they go to the police, but Dick did not hear her. Instead, he told Jean to follow him when he got off at the next exit. Dick and Jean turned off onto Highway 85 with the male driver in pursuit Dick decided to turn onto a road in Sunnyvale to pull over, and both Jean and the driver pulled over behind him. Dick exited his truck and when he walked passed Jeanβs vehicle, he told her that he didnβt recognize the driver. While Jean stayed in her car, Dick walked over to the manβs driverβs side window and asked him what
