A list of puns related to "Lfc"
So I was arguing with a guy on Twitter who turns out to be an Arsenal fan. But because I support Chelsea, he said I’m a Chelsea fan because I’m a glory hunter. If you not from Manchester, but you a Man UTD fan, not from Madrid but you a Madrid fan, or not from Milan but an Inter/Ac fan, you or your family were/are most likely glory hunters like the Chelsea/City fans y’all like to say are glory hunters.
Or am I wrong for having this view? This’s something I’ve never really understood. The ‘oil club’ argument makes more sense, but not glory hunting imo.
🚨EDIT: I was thinking about it and I think I may have answered my own question, perhaps.
I personally believe to be a big team, you need ‘glory hunters’. And you not going to have glory hunters if you’re not a successful club. How you become a successful club(for example, by spending ’oil money’) is irrelevant to why Chelsea/City/PSG fans are called glory hunters because most of the Chelsea/C/PSG fans didn’t become a fan because the club had money. But they became a fan because the club became successful.
Glory hunting is basically supporting a team because they are the current Champion/supporting the best team. ‘I’m going to support Chelsea because they won the CL in 2021’. That’s glory hunting. This’s my definition. And then ‘plastic’ would be switching from one team to another OR not really caring/being passionate for the team you claim you support.
Since UTD/LFC/Madrid/AC/(other ‘big’ team with good history) have been dominate for the majority of history, a good chunk of their global fans didn’t support the club because of their success, but because their family was a fan. And their family could be third/second generation fans. And if you not a first generation fan, you most likely didn’t glory hunt. But for Chelsea in the early 2000’s, a good chunk of their global fans were 1st generation fans, which mean they most likely glory hunted. So for example, Just because my family glory hunted to support LFC in the 70’s… don’t necessarily mean ‘I’ glory hunted. I just supported them because my family supported them.
This wouldn’t apply to Americans since football only became popular in recent years. So most Americans are first generation fans, so if they support teams like UTD, Chelsea, Madrid, City, PSG, Barcelona, Juventus, they are most likely glory hunters.
Paul Tierney on VAR, the horror.
