A list of puns related to "Lancelotβgrail"
My personal favorite is at the end of the Life of Brianβs 3 wise men scene when the mother gets very upset to learn that a wise man has brought a balm/bomb:
MANDY: A bomb? What are you giving him a bomb for?
And then the tag-along: βIt might bite him!β
The βit might.
This has wondered me ever since I got Saber Lancelot in F/GO: Memes aside, if Saber Lancelot was summoned in a HGW, can he use all of the Noble Phantasms he is known of (Arondight Overload, For Someone's Glory, Knight of Owner), or he would be restricted to one or two NPs only? If he can use them all, wouldn't he be a super powerful but expensive servant to be summoned and possibly be life-threatening for a rookie or normie master to use Saberlot in the battle (maybe as deadly as or deadlier than other very popular servants in mythos)?
Also, aside from being very loyal and upright to his master as well as being pure-hearted, what other personalities Saberlot can show to his master and to other people? Lastly, is it possible for him to have a Noble Phantasm that changes him to his berserker version (similar to Atalante's in Fate/Apocrypha) since it was part of his Fate mythos that he went crazy mad? Maybe he has to wear his helmet in order to berserkerize himself, just like Atalante donning the Boar of Kalydon in her berserker/Alter version.
Probably subconciously inspired by watching the seventh seal earlier this week, I decided to watch Excalibur. I had high expectations, Zardoz in the middle ages. Should be awesome right?
What a disappointment. The acting is terrible, there is mainly shouting. Could be the voice dubbing or the fact that most actors were used to the stage and still in the habit trying to reach the back rows. The scenery of this movie is fantastic though. However, the lighting makes the amazing stage setup look unrealistic in my opinion. The knights almost never shed their armour. Even the conception of King Arthur is done while in full armour. After this scene, early in the film I thought this movie should be interpreted as a comedy but I am not so sure this was intended by Boorman. I thought the movie was entertaining but not much more.
Next I watched the Bresson interpretation, Lancelot du Lac. This has a more interesting take on the Arthur legend. The knights have failed their quest for the grail and are infighting. There is no real heroism, only despair and pointlesness. This movie obviously had a lower budget and had a way more rustic feel. Most of the indoor scenes take place in some barn with hay and old plant pots tossed in. Nevertheless I thought this movie was more interesting because of its antiheroic take on the legend. What I did not like was some of the cinematographic choices. In the tournament scenes only the legs of the knights and horses were in view for large parts. I get that this was a concious choice to focus the audience on the sounds and visuals of knights hitting the ground but I did not think it worked very well.
During both movies I was constantly reminded of Monty Python's holy grail. Lancelot du Lac was not meant as a comedy, perhaps it was satirized by the holy grail? For Excalibur there is no excuse though as it came later. Or was Excalibur meant to be a comedy?
Or has the holy grail made me interpret all Arthurian medieval movies with knights in harnesses as comedies?
How does this go for Shirou? Saber Lancelot is a pretty powerful servant, how does he stack up against Berserker, Lancer, and Rider, ect. How do you think Lancelot and Shirou would interact?
By the way, this is a meme war where your Master will probably have minimal impact, just saying. Also I expect it to be over within a few days because that's how my wars tend to happen unless you're a victim of AWGW limbo.
What is the Lancelot Grail War?
Shitposting in Servants has made me realize - Lancelot is memes incarnate. I must seize this chance of course, being the meme GM (apparently).
It's a non-canon War that I expect can and will occur any number of times and should go fast.
Any number of players from 3-7, FFA-style in a very large colisseum divided into X sections for each class participating in the war. Within the colisseum lays many more weapons for the Lancelots to take control of and use. Remember, everything is disposable in this!
Rather than the seven standard classes, they're all Berserker Lancelots, but the catch is... They're color coded! Oh and they're all the classes.
Saber Berserker Lancelot starts with swords! (Well it's more exciting than that, but Saberfaces are a blight upon the earth so I'm biased)
Archer Berserker Lancelot gets himself some nice projectile weapons! (Because Archers really are archers!)
Lancer Berserker Lancelot has some pretty sick long-ranged melee weapons! (No one ever said they were all interesting)
Caster Berserker Lancelot slings some quality Knight of Honor'd spells! (I'll make it work.)
Rider Berserker Lancelot gets ROAD ROLLER DA! among other vehicles (Memes)
Assassin Berserker Lancelot ain't no pussy so he trades PC for BRUTE STRENGTH (and more!)
Berserker Berserker Lancelot is the ONE TRUE BERSERKER and I dunno, I guess gets the Hanging Gardens of Babylon super reinforced fists and stuff?
Don't worry about the balance, I'll take care of it. I always do.
The littered weapons will include Noble Phantasms randomly because it's NON-CANON I CAN DO WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT AHAHAHAHAHA!
I look forward to your participation!
Currently: 5/X where X is less than or equal to say... 9?
There'll be a deadline after we hit 7 if any stragglers wanna sign up, I'll edit it as needed.
