Ducks have what are called lamellae, which are thin, comb-like structures on the sides of a duck's bill -- They're just inside the edge of the bill and can look like serrated teeth. These are used for straining food from mud or water.

I found a few of these mushrooms in the forest near my home (Southern Bavaria, Germany). From a distance I thought they were porcini mushrooms....But the colour is too "orange" and instead of a sponge there are lamellae under the cap.Does anyone know which sort of mushroom it is? reddit.com/gallery/jgqhlh

Polymer lamellae as reaction intermediates of copper nanospheres evidenced by in‐situ X‐ray studies
The Classical Nucleation Theory (CNT) is the most common theoretical framework used to explain particle formation. However, nucleation is a complex process with reaction pathways which are often not covered by the CNT. Here, we study the formation mechanism of Cu nanospheres using in‐situ‐X‐Ray absorption and scattering measurements. We reveal that their nucleation involves coordination polymer lamellae as pre‐nucleation structures occupying a local minimum in the reaction energy landscape. Having learned this, we achieved a superior monodispersity for Cu nanospheres of different sizes. This report exemplifies the importance of developing a more realistic picture of the mechanism involved in the formation of inorganic nanoparticles to develop a rational approach to their synthesis.

Any idea what this might be? I'm new to mycology, but think its probably an agaric. I love the slightly pink lamellae!
Spotted in Uruguay. Definitely mycorrhizal as it is growing against an old pine stump. Lamellae visible underneath but the whole cap is basically against the ground so I did not want to move it much for a pic. Sarcodon Imbricatus seems similar but darker and rounder, and distribution does not match.
Last week I saw this Soil in western Tennessee. The lamellae (small, layered bands of clay and clean washed sand) deep in the profile are beautiful. Thought you guys would like it!
Found on slope in wales, I have a spore print of one, when I first picked the other one they were both darker brown but that might of just been the rain, lamellae is dark purple/black
